Řehák, Česlav ; Moraová, Hana (advisor) ; Novotná, Gabriela (referee)
This thesis seeks to create, test and discuss the success of several activities for the second year of the upper secondary education, where the target language is English with 20 % of all lessons taught with the use of CLIL. Individual activities are described from the points of view of the planned and the piloted course of the lesson, including reflection on which aspects of the activity worked and which require further adjustments in order to improve upon the motivational and educational impact. At the end of the thesis, the reception of the activities by the students, the influence of CLIL teaching on the students' motivation and the enthusiasm with which they participated is summarised. The fulfilment of the thematic plan and most importantly the common attributes of those activities that can be viewed as successful in respect to piloting are discussed. These notions are put into context of the generally accepted principles of CLIL teaching, which are described in the theoretical part. The need to create new teaching materials and develop new activities for upper secondary mathematics are discussed and defended in the theoretical part.

Clients of Residential Youth Care at Risk of Dropout from Upper Secondary Education
Bílá, Pavlína ; Dvořák, Dominik (advisor) ; Straková, Jana (referee)
Early school leaving represents a serious problem in the European and recently also in the Czech context. The aim of this thesis is to research the dropout risks at clients of the Youth Diagnostic Facility using qualitative methods. The subject of the research is a group of six boys aged 15- 17 years. The goal of the research is to map the causes of educational issues through case studies and identify the reasons for dropout among the facility's clients; to explore the approach of schools and their staff to the education of these individuals; to describe the education conditions provided by the diagnostic facility; and to find out how the clients themselves see their education process and whether their attitude and approach to education changed during their stay at the facility. The results show that in some cases placement in a diagnostic or educational facility can increase, by providing suitable conditions, the chances of obtaining secondary education. The chosen strategy of the performed qualitative research was a cross-case study, data were obtained by direct observation of the lessons, individual interviews with teachers, group interviews with pupils and document analysis. The concept of biology teaching in selected schools is elaborately analysed, including the description of specific lessons. In addition, the ideological basis, the organisation and evaluation in each school is analysed too. Comparison of selected schools identified common characteristic features such as emphasis on personal development of pupils, non-traditional teaching organisation, evaluation without school grades, frequent excursions, respecting approach towards pupils and deviation from systematics in biology teaching. The thesis provides a deep insight into biology teaching in alternative secondary schools, which is an under-represented area of the Czech education system....
