The aim of the research was to describe and understand the process of constructing social status during transition from elementary school to high school. The theoretical part focuses on the classroom as a social group, there is described the social structure of the classroom, as well as the most common roles and sociometric positions that occur in the classroom. There are also discussed relevant topics about adolescence and possible ways for exploring social relations within the classroom. In the empirical part I present a qualitative research, in which have been involved five high schools from Prague and its surroundings, N= 104 students. For this purpose two questionnaires were used - sociometric rating questionnaire SORAD and questionnaire mapping experience of the individuals in interpersonal relationships and their satisfaction with the change of the school community. Based on data analysis and interpretive methods, I conclude that social status is constructed in the earliest interactions between members and there is only a little variability. Social status is made up of two categories - relational skill, which is expressed by popularity, and social force, that is expressed by the ratio of power in the group. Development of communication and social skills in children with autism Group social skills training and communication of children with autism at a young age
KOPFOVÁ, Markéta
The bachelor thesis focuses on issues of the communication and social skills development at the children with Autism at their younger school age. This bachelor thesis should provide a comprehensive overview of the issue. There are characterized specific problems occuring at those children and their consequences in the everyday life and there is also described their behaviour and explained a basis on which we should approach to them. In the theoretical part generally I am trying to give the most important information relating to this topic, which should serve as a specific summary of findings even for the lay public. The greatest contribution of this thesis should be a creation of my own methodological material for a group training of social skills for children with the autism spectrum disorders, oriented to children at the younger school age. These methodological sheets could be used by special education teachers for the trainings of social skills in various facilities or centres or they could serve to parents who would like to develop their children´s abilities and skills in their home environment. The aim of this thesis was to create the own methodological material for the group social skills training of the children with Autism at the younger school age and then to verify it in practice. To obtain all the information about individual clients it was necessary to study all the available documentation I got from the Special Educational Centre on basis of a written consent of the parents. For additional information I interviewed the parents. In the empirical part there I devoted to my own ideas for the group social skills trainings. These trainings were conducted in the Special Educational Centre and they were divided into ten sessions held once a week for one hour. I worked with five children who have the autism spectrum disorder and they were aged from 6 to 12 years. These trainings were focused on the most significant problem areas at these children. Each time I specified a different problem area and tried to improve it. Nevertheless all the ideas have in common the fact, that they have been unified by a theme of the friendship. This created material could serve as a methodological tool of the social skills training for the special education teachers, parents and organizations dealing with children with the autism issues.
Group training in social skills of children with Asperger syndrome in older school age
SKOTÁKOVÁ, Jana
We use social skills during interactions with other people. They form an inseparable part of each of us. We first learn them from our parents, then from other people, and during our whole life, with each new experience. People with Asperger's syndrome are not able to do so. They have problems during conversation understanding elements of non-verbal communication such as gestures, proxemics, facial expressions, postures and many others. They do not understand their emotions or other people's emotions. They do not get irony. For their trustfulness and naivety they can easily become a victim to persecutors, bullies or impostors. My Bachelor's work focuses on the period of older school age. It is the time of big changes which bring certain risks. For teenagers with Asperger's syndrome, as well as for their peers, it is one of the most demanding life periods. They start to realise their dissimilarity and therefore they need more support. Group training of model situations is one possibility for them to learn to understand the basic rules of social interactions. The aim of my work was to create work lists on the basis of determined deficits in the selected group of teenagers, on the basis of observations of the whole group, discussions with SPC (Special Pedagogic Centre) employees and analyses of documentation, and to test these work lists during social skills group training in practice. The first part of my Bachelor work describes general information about particular types of autistic spectrum disorder. It also compares symptoms of children with Asperger's syndrome and children's autism in the area of social interactions and communication. At the end of the first chapter I define problems of people with Asperger's syndrome in three basic areas ? social interactions, communication and imagination. The second chapter describes individual elements of social skills. The next part is devoted to the period of older school age (pubescence), first at a general level, and then focusing on particular specifics of adolescent children with Asperger's syndrome. The final chapter highlights the increased risk of bullying for these children. The next part of my Bachelor work describes the research method which was used for this work. Social skills training for children with a mental handicap, with an extended scope of activity for caring for people with autistic spectrum disorder, was carried out at the České Budějovice SPC in Štítného Street. The selected group comprised of four clients with Asperger's syndrome who attend the second stage of the primary school in České Budějovice. The work characterises this group as well as individual clients. The practical part describes the course of each training session and reflection of the selected group. Finally I included a discussion with two parents of the children who attended the group training of social skills at SPC. During my work with the target group I realised that group training has its pros and cons and it is not always suitable for every client ? not every client is able to work in a group and individual training may be more convenient. The individuality of every client must be taken into account when creating the group. During group training with the target group I detected certain difficulties and dangers which this form of training brings, e.g. the variety of the group, an irregular number of clients, the increased number of hours with increased demands in lessons at the second stage of primary school, the different interests and demands of individual motivation for each client. Each client needs an individual method of motivation.

During this interview children were inquired individually in advance prepared, open questions, concerning, above all, their opinion about the handicapped friends, who took part in this stay action together with them. The last method used for collection of the dates in my thesis is the method of structural examination, which was used with the parents of children from the intact society, who took part in the stay action focused on canistherapy. After its ending, among the parents of children, there was realized examination, endeavouring for opinion of them: influence of this stay action to their child. As complementary dates resource, there was used the method of photo documentation. The research was under way in the period from July to September 2012 with the children from intact society, who where participants of the stay action focused on canistherapy and their parents. Camp was arranged with the Training Centre of Canistherapy called Hafík, o.s. (non-profit civic association). Whole of a piece 12 respondents both males and females from the row of the children from intact society took part in this stay action together with 6 parents of them. Results of the researching proved forth coming changes in the social sphere and social skills of the intact children during their stay action focused on canistherapy. The children improved their communication, learnt to establish and keep contact with new people. They became more self-confident, independent and self-sufficient. Further, the children, thanks to the presence of handicapped one´s, have learnt both the correct access to them and the forms of manners with them. At the same time they have got new knowledge about some individual types of disabilities. During the program with present dogs children gained couples of knowledge and skills, concerning with behavior, care and training the dogs.
