Methods of molecular and cell biology in the frame of secondary school education
Blaha, Milan ; Ehler, Edvard (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
Teaching of cell and molecular biology is often restricted by financial and material limitations as well as a lack of expertise. These problems may be overcome by cooperation with scientific institutions and universities. Some scientists teach select courses under the auspices of high school. Others allow students to fulfill internships at their workplaces. The first aim of this thesis is to describe the characteristics of summer school, wherein the participants are integral for providing feedback on what matters most to them. The second goal of the study is to perform four molecular biology lab lessons in the advanced placement genetics course. The results of a qualitative research conducted among summer school participants have shown the benefits present due to contact that occurs between people of the same genuine interest. Student evaluation of molecular biology lessons performed in the advanced placement course revealed that the lab lessons are feasible and positively accepted by students. The thesis also highlights the importance of cooperation between high school and academia. Key words: molecular biology, DNA, secondary schools, gifted students
Lectures of information literacy in education of history at Dvořákovo gymnázium in Kralupy nad Vltavou
Řihák, Jakub ; Římanová, Radka (advisor) ; Vášová, Lidmila (referee)
This thesis deals with a concept of information literacy lectures applied to the project-based teaching of history at Dvořákovo gymnázium in Kralupy nad Vltavou. In this thesis are presented and further developed the information literacy requirements for high school students, specified in the "Educational program framework for High schools" (27). These requirements are further developed, based on the information literacy standards published in the USA and the UK. On this basis is formulated a concept of information literacy teaching instructions. This concept results in the formulation of information literacy lessons curriculum and their implementation in the history lessons through project-based teaching method. The whole concept was tested in practice. However, in this thesis is also mentioned the possibility of teaching information literacy in a way of a separate workshop, connected with other school subjects. This method seems to be more suitable, because it allows the inclusion of a wider range of subjects into the workshop's curriculum.
Motivation to study economic subjects at secondary schools and universities
Herlíková, Eliška ; Krejčová, Kristýna (advisor) ; Fišerová, Marie (referee)
This thesis deals with motivation to study economic subjects at secondary schools and universities, specifically with its level and structure as well as achievement motivation. You can find a general theoretical overview in the first part of the thesis and then a detailed view on motivation to learn, on the importance of adolescence and young adulthood in human motivation. The final part of the theoretical part evaluates the influence of teachers on students' motivation. The second part of the thesis is a research of secondary school and university students' motivation made by using a questionnaire. Differences between both age categories are then compared and their existence is discussed in the context of the theoretical basis.
Analysis of the interest in intimate nature at primary and secondary school in the area of Chrudim
PEŠKOVÁ, Šárka
The aim of the bachelor thesis is analysis of the interest in inanimate nature of respondents from five primary schools and three secondary schools in the area of Chrudim. The thesis has theoretical and practical parts. The first part is focused on the description of research methodology, motivation and leisure activities, and the description of basic factors affecting student's interest in inanimate nature. The practical part has dealt with the author's research consisted of questionnaire survey among the students (134 respondents) and structured interviews with the teachers (4 respondents). The obtained results show that geological topics, i.e. inanimate nature, are not favourite theme for the students at primary and secondary schools. There are no significant differences between girls and boys, as well as between students of primary and secondary schools. The results have proved that unpopularity of geology (inanimate nature) is caused mostly by insufficient time devoted to this theme at schools, which is currently one lecture a week. During this lecture it is necessary to go through and explain large amount of new terms and knowledge from geology. Therefore, there is a shortage of time for favourite practical examples in lectures or excursions to the nature.
Monitoring of the state of ecology education at secondary schools in the Czech Republic
JELÍNKOVÁ, Lucie
The aim of this work was to chart the situation of ecology education at Czech secondary schools and compare it with modern knowledge and with total concption of the ecology as a science discipline. Only 77 % of primary schools dedicated to biological ecology and most of teachers spend teaching this topic less than 10 lessons during the school attendance. Approximately half of the teachers use textbooks in teaching, mostly textbook series Ekologický přírodopis by D. Kvasničková et al. Less than half of teachers complement teaching by using popular-science journals and internet servers. Used textbooks are partly consistent with current conception of biological ecology, but there are missing topics like evolutionary ecology, the origin and development of the communities, the role of disturbation on formation of the communities, the factors influencing biodiversity and the ecological methodology.
Current situation in teaching of algorithmization in secondary school
BROMOVÁ, Jana
The aim of this thesis is mapping of current state of teaching of algorithmization in secondary school. Basic information about the subject is given in theoretical part - a relation between teaching of algorithmization and RVP ZV, and basic assupmtions of teaching of algorithmization: a historical aspect, methods, aims and possibilities of teaching of algorithmization (and an approach on teaching). The essential part of teaching of algorithmization is an education support - a textbook about algorithmization and programming, programming support, projects and competitions for students. Practical part is a pedagogical research. This research consists of five themes A. A quantitative research of teaching of algorithmization in secondary school in České Budějovice. B. A review of extra curricural teaching of algorithmization in ČB. C. A statewide mapping of teaching of algorithmization in Czech Republic. D. A statewide research on a success rate of the competition ?Bobřík informatiky? (informatics beaver). E. A teacher's experience with a textbook.

Secondary schools students´ latent knowledge of human physiology
JELÍNKOVÁ, Martina
The aim of this investigation was to discover if there is different knowledge of Human Physiology at Grammar Schools students and Secondary Nursing Schools students. The research carried out among students of secondary schools showed that the time interval in school curriculum hadn´t a big effect on the amount of students´ knowledge. The research consisted of preparing and checking of a didactic test investigating the Human Physiology knowledge, then its distribution at carefully chosen secondary schools and finally evaluation the results. The didactic test was submitted to 156 third-level students, 87 fourth-level students at Grammar Schools and 56 students at medical secondary school. The test was set just after finishing the topic of Human Physiology with the third-level students. The fourth-level students completed the test with a 6-month interval. The test results could show if the time interval of a term influenced students´ knowledge and if they could remember the information after certain time. Analysis of results carried out in particular levels was evaluated in details and summarized in charts.
