Priority packet queues in FPGA

Master thesis is dealing with issues and problems of packet queue management in high speed packet networks. Design implementation is made in VHDL hardware description language. In theoretical part of thesis are explained different types of mechanism used for providing quality of service in communication networks. Furthermore the brief description o VHDL, FPGA and framework Netcope Development Kit is a piece of theoretical part as well. The outcome of practical part contains a design, limiting packet queues based on Tocken Bucket mechanism. Design verification was made by simulations, synthesis and real implementation on smart NIC NFB-200G2QL. All kind of verificaion results are summerized in last three chapters.

Quality of service assurance in IP networks

The aim of this work was introducing the options of configuration mechanisms for quality of service (QoS) in basic network products of Cisco company. The characteristics of the techniques for control and management of bandwidth, delay, jitter and packet loss were examined and explained. The attention was then focused mainly on DiffServ mechanism. Its individual functions, such as classification and marking, traffic rate management and its policing and shaping, congestion management queuing and congestion avoidance, are discussed in detail. Further investigation was aimed at the possibility of QoS implementation on Cisco devices. The basic principles and commands for providing the quality of service were then demonstrated by Cisco MQC. The specific terms, such as traffic class definition, policy definition and policy application, were presented and explained. Consequently, the different scenarios of measurement were proposed and a testing network was designed. Influence of FIFO, PQ, CBWFQ and WRED mechanisms on the network traffic was measured. As a result of the work, the optimal mechanism for providing the quality of service was chosen.

Effect of chromatic component on function of antipredatory warning signals

Warning coloration is used by prey to signal its unprofitability to potential predators. Warning colours may have different effects on various cognitive processes of predators (innate avoidance, avoidance learning, memory and generalization). Typical colours regarded as aposematic are red, orange and yellow. Red colour is considered to be the most effective signal and has a significant effect on avoidance learning, memory and generalization. Orange also represents an effective warning signal, though it has been studied less. Yellow is effective aposematic stimulus but it has frequently been found less effective compared to red and orange. Warning functions of white, blue, violet and ultraviolet colours were studied less frequently and their role in aposematism is not yet clear. Iridescent coloration might also be an effective warning signal affecting avoidance learning, memory and generalization. In this thesis I present a summary of information with regard to different warning colours and their effect on cognitive processes of predators. The magic and power of red lipsticks. How do they affect our perception and communication with our surroundings

This master thesis The magic and power of red lipsticks represents theoretical-empirical analysis that argues how red lipsticks influence our perception and how we communicate through them with our surrounding. The thesis stems from the basic assumption that red lipstick is truly important and bold communication mean that is able to talk to our surrounding in a completely different ways than other colors or color shades. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether the aforementioned assumption matches the reality. Key questions for this master thesis were as follows: How do women communicate with their surrounding through red color (red lipstick)? What do they expect from these communication means? How do they feel when they communicate through these means (when they wear red lipstick)? How to they perceive reactions for this mean of communication? What are these reactions like (men- and women- wise)? The master thesis is based on researches from the field of beauty, human attractiveness or perception of red color that have already been done and it presents several different theories about human beautification as well as cosmetics evolution and evolution of perception of beauty itself. RadioEurodistrict (RED) - History of the First French-German online radio (2004)

This paper has considered the history of the Radioeurodistrict (RED) which led to the difficulty of defining the concepts of Eurodistricts and Euroregions. A literature review was undertaken initially, and further information provided by a semi-structured interview with the general secretary of the Strasbourg-Ortenau Eurodistrict (the focus area). In order to understand the objectives to create a Eurodistrict the history of an established Eurégio (Germany-Netherlands) was examined as well as a Euroregion of the Centre-east of Europe (Poland-Czech Republic). The consideration of the history of war and conflict in these European regions further facilitated the understanding of the motivations which are shown to have changed over time. Since the main focus of this paper is the SOE, the motivations to form this Eurodistrict and its specific projects were described. By considering the functioning and administration of these regions, their complexity was examined. The SOE as an EGTC was addressed in relation to the finance and the administration and the role of INTERREG was discussed. The interview greatly enhanced the understanding of the functioning of the SOE. Reasons for the failure of RED radio were surmised and failure of the Eurodistricts examined. Some evidence of failure was provided by newspaper articles from as recent as this year as well as the interviewee who spoke of some of her difficulties. In order to improve future study, weaknesses in the questions asked are addressed and further research ideas put forward.

Czech avant-garde argumentation, in ReD magazine's replies to outer eriticism

The theme of the work is assessment of argumentation strategies used by Revue Devetsil (ReD) editors, eg in response to articles published elsewhere or other critical contributions - especially in the context of conflict of art and politics. In particular, the observed situations relate to cases in which ReD editors expressed their views on the evaluations of contemporary avant-garde movement. The content of the study is an analysis of argumentation techniques according to social viewpoint. Rather than formal stylistic means, the text is oriented to contents and context of the use of specific or repeated arguments, especially the position from which the message is being produced. At the same time, the work captures the communication traits and characteristics of the First Republic cultural journalism and the position of the Czech avant-garde at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s. The thesis is divided into four chapters and a conclusion. The first one presents the media landscape of the First Republic cultural journalism, the second chapter informs about Devetsil movement, third part focuses on presentation of the goals of the Revue Devetsil, the fourth chapter presents examples of argumentative concepts on the genre of the manifesto, the polemics and the theoretical study. Surrealism - War of my world

The bachelor thesis deals mainly with the theme and the comparison of French and Czech surrealism until their peak during the 1970s. At the same time it works with surrealism from the psychological point of view, which means free associations by Freud that were the pillars of the beginnings of surrealism as we know it today. In the practical part, the topic mentioned above is worked with because my paintings are all within the scope of surrealism.
