Comparison of Theory and Practice of Authoritarian Regimes in Cases of Austria and Portugal between the World Wars

Diploma thesis, titled " Comparison of theory and practice of authoritarian regimes in cases of Austria and Portugal between the world wars" deals with authoritarian Austria in 1934 - 1938 and authoritarian Portugal in 1926 - 1940. Diploma thesis is focused on theory of authoritarian regimes, also aimed at ideological base and authoritarian tendencies in both cases, trying to approximate Austrian and Portuguese authoritarian model. The most important part is focused on juxtaposition of theoretic concepts and their practice usage, confrontation of establishing authoritarian regimes in Austria and Portugal, also comparing regimes structures. Foreign policy connotations, which have influenced both regimes is also mentioned.
Presence of Colonial Past in Contemporary Portugal

This diploma thesis, titled "Presence of Colonial Past in Contemporary Portugal", deals with how the Portuguese society has coped with their loss of the last colonies after the democratic revolution in the year 1974. Portugal belonged, along with Spain, to the first colonial powers in Europe and for long time - till the 20th century - the independence of colonies was for many Portuguese people unimaginable. Therefore a lot of them were surprised with the speedy decolonization of these territories after 1974. Investigation of reactions of Portuguese society to this change is based on the analysys of responses of its political and academic communities after the year 1976. Attitudes held by the wider society was demonstrated by the massive support of Portuguese to the former colony of East Timor during Semptember 1999. The approach of politicans is analysed in this work through their speeches during the key' historical moments, which influenced relations between Portugal and its former colonies during the years 1976-1996, as well as through government' programmes and comments in mass media. Comparison of the Colonial Policy of the Portuguese New State During 1926-1945 and 1945-1961: An Ideological and Legislative Perspective

The Portuguese New State (1926-1974), as the longest lasting authoritarian regime of its kind in Europe, was making efforts in maintaining its sovereignty on the global scale. Especially the view of the international community on colonialism underwent significant transformation in the course of the examined period and the Portuguese regime had to reflect the changing order in its stances as well. The thesis conducts a comparison of the particular features of the colonial rule during time periods 1926-1945 and 1945-1961. Firstly, the emphasis is placed on the comparison of laws which adjusted colonial administration and status of the natives in overseas dominions. Secondly, the colonial ideologies the Imperial Mystique and Lusotropicalism are described and compared as they provided grounds for the advocation of Portuguese presence in its colonies. The main objective of the thesis is to confirm whether the regime in the postwar period, through the reformulation of the legislative documents at least legally got on the road to the progressive administration in the colonies. Rancho Folclórico - Musical Heritage of Portugal

Thesis is dedicated to traditional folklore music of Portugal and introduces different kinds of traditional music. Chosen are those kinds that are even nowadays very popular and that are to be found around the country. The main focus of thesis is on music and tradition of folklore groups called Rancho Folclórico. History of Portuguese traditional music in general as well as the origins of rancho are introduced. Those are connected to the context of general Portuguese history. Furthermore, traditional musical instruments typical for rancho groups are described as well as the musical repertoire and traditional dances. The character of rancho groups, their members, rehearsals, costumes and festivals the groups preform in are closely examined. Final chapter introduces concrete activities and ideas for utilization of Portuguese traditional music in pedagogical practice. Thesis is also based on information obtained from interviews with current members of variant rancho groups. Hereafter, appendix is attached to thesis consisting mainly of photographs and video recordings taken personally by the author in Lisbon.
Portugal as a tourist destination

The main aim of this thesis is to characterize Portugal as a tourism destination, as well as to analyze the current situation of the tourism industry in this destination, and to try to outline the possible options for future development. The partial aims of the thesis, that should help to achieve the main goal, are: the description of economic development of Portugal in a past few years, the analysis of the offer of the tourism products in the destination, the demarcation of the position of tourism industry in Portuguese economy and last but not least the desciption of current tourism policy in the country. This thesis uses especially electronic sources, that are available online. These are mainly annual reports, statistics and research papers. The thesis then also uses literature, which is relevant to the topic of the thesis. After brief introduction at the beginning, the thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter has a theoretical character and contains the definitions of specialized terms of economic field as well as of tourism industry field. The second chapter provides basic information and facts about Portugal. The third chapter is dedicated to political and economic characterization of Portugal. The last chapter is about tourism in destination Portugal, about its current situation, as well as about its possible development in the future. The thesis then ends with a conclusion, that summarize the whole work.
The role of rating in terms of FDI

The world crisis that countries were facing since 2008 strongly affected the international capital flows. Beside other factors, the cause was found in inaccurate ratings hence the rating agencies were criticized very harshly. The mail goal of this diploma thesis is to study the interconnection between sovereign rating and FDI inflow from 2011 until 2015. The first chapter describes FDI and main factors which play a key role in FDIs setting. The second chapter concentrates on rating and rating agencies. The third part of the thesis works with representative countries data in 2006 and 2015 and its aim is to compare FDI inflow and sovereign rating of each country using static data. Last chapter consists of three case studies: Slovenia, Portugal and Ireland and tries to find out if there is a correlation between FDI inflows and ratings from 2011 until 2015.

This bachelor thesis deals with life expectancy, healthy life years analysis in selected countries. The begining of this thesis is devoted to explanation of individual concepts, which are used in in this thesys, later it aids on healthy life years indicator and its calculation methods, meaning and usi in practice. It ges on with hypotheses verifying or returning influence of natural, demographic, biological, socio-economic phenomena on healthy life years in selected countries. These countries are: Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, Finland, Island, Norway. Comparsion was made from the point of view of the EU 27/28 average, individual type sof disability were also evaluated.

Fertility development in selected European countries considering the timing effect from the second half of the 20th century to the present The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate the influence of the timing effect on the mean age of mothers at childbirth in the context of fertility development in selected European countries from the second half of the 20th century to the present. Another objective is to adjust the total fertility rate to the timing effect and consequently demonstrated how changes in fertility timing affect this period measure in selected countries at a given time fame. The last objective is an evaluation of the views of respondents from studied countries from the sample survey of the European Social Survey for the years 2004 and 2010 to the questions relating to the reconciliation of work and family as one of the factors affecting the timing of fertility. On the basis of Esping-Andersen's typology of welfare states, following states are selected: Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine. Changes of the mean age of mothers at childbirth are given not only by real changes in the timing of childbearing (the timing effect), but also by changes in the childbearing according to the birth order (the effect of fertility structure).
