The diploma thesis deals with the capture of life destinies of a teacher and later (from 1923) a regional politician Josef Caňkář (1889 - 1975) who was the mayor of Poděbrady in the years 1927 - 1939 and the chairman of the national committee of the town of Poděbrady in the years 1946-1948. The aim of the study is to illustrate the rise of the educator in Poděbrady in the dramatic years of the first half of the twentieth century and his persecution by the Nazi and Communist regimes. Firstly, it represents the character of Josef Caňkář, his origin and political career and then it takes sounding into the specific problematic issues of the town which associates with Josef Caňkář's work in the town of Poděbrady. Diploma thesis deals with the turning points in Josef Caňkář's life and the history of the town and spa depending on the change of the ruling regimes. It penetrates the fate of Josef Caňkář during World War II, his imprisonment in a concentration camp Sachsenhaussen while it still emphasizes the connection with the town of Poděbrady. It also tries to provide related aspects of Josef's decisions and its implications for the town, the lives of the citizens, his family and himself. Third republic in Podebrady

The proposed diploma thesis "The Third Republic in Podebrady" focuses on town Podebrady during years 1945-1948. The work provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of events at the end of the WWII. It also describes the period of liberation and the arrival of Red Army and Allied troops. Furthermore, the thesis investigates various events, that took place in Podebrady in the time of so-called Third Republic. The establishment of Municipal and District National Comitte is explored as well as their activities. Besides that, the work deals with actions of the National Security Corps (SNB) and with the development in schools and in industry in Podebrady, especially with the process of nationalization in glass and spa industries.

Jindřich Freiwald and Czech Interwar Theatre Architecture

(in English) The subject of the present thesis is a complex of realizations and projects of Czech architect Jindřich Freiwald (1890-1945) in the field of theatre architecture and its putting into context of Czech interwar theatre architecture. The initial part outlines theatre building as a specific architectonic problem and shows the important moments of its evolution. The subsequent chapter focuses on the situation of Czech theatre architecture between the World Wars and presents briefly the constituent realizations of individual theatre buildings with their promoters, interior organization and outer form. The next part of the thesis deals with the personality of Jindřich Freiwald, his works and production of the Freiwald & Böhm studio. Subsequently, the crucial part of this thesis presents executed theatre buildings by Jindřich Freiwald - Jirásek Theatre in Hronov, Karel Pippich Theatre in Chrudim, Municipal Theatre in Kolín, item project of the Jiřík Theatre in Poděbrady, placing of the Theatre Na kovárně in Poděbrady, project of reconstruction of the Dusík Theatre in Čáslav and project of theatre in Čelákovice . Bachelor thesis deals with the boarding areas of cities. It is written in literature section on this topic. Literary part includes a historical overview of the development of cities and describes solutions to cities at different times. Below are the main types of entry areas in the city and for each type is given an example of existing solutions. View and approaches to solving the city is described by four prominent authors: Jan Gehl - city for people, Christian Norberg Schultz - genius loci, Camillo Sitte - artistic principles of creation and Kevin Lynch - the city's image. From their perspective, the city is based on inspiring conclusions from which I come for the next part of this work , which deals with the model territory - the city of Poděbrady and defining theirs entry areas . Of these, we selected two examples in which are processed architectural study.

Position of the spa town Poděbrady on the Czech spa market

The thesis analyzes and evaluates the position of the spa town Poděbrady, respectively, the largest local spa company Lázně Poděbrady, a.s., on the Czech spa market. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The theoretical part makes an introduction into balneology (basic notions, relationship between balneology and tourism, spa product, management and marketing, the economic benefits of the spa). The next section provides basic information about Poděbrady, development of providing spa services in this town and about the local natural healing resource. In the following chapter, there is an analysis and comparison of spa subjects providing spa services in Poděbrady. The fourth chapter analyzes the position of the spa company Lázně Poděbrady, a.s., on the Czech spa market. Based on the analysis and comparisons, an evaluation of the position of the company on the Czech spa market is made in the final part.

Marketing Strategy of the Spa Lázně Poděbrady

This thesis analyzes current situation of the Czech spa industry and significant changes in this field in relation to the planned health care reforms. The number of patients, whose treatment is fully funded by health insurance, will decline. These payments are important income for Czech spas. Practical part of the thesis is focused on spa marketing and suggests marketing strategy for the company Lázně Poděbrady adapted to the new economic environment.
