Once Upon a Time
Diplomová práce má podobu autorské knihy propojující vyprávění, koláže a ilustrace, v níž se noří do svých myšlenek a emocí prostřednictvím svého alter ega. Skládání různorodých prvků v kolážích zrcadlí proces opětovného skládání a tvoření života narušeného válkou. Prostřednictvím vlastní tvůrčí práce a kolážových workshopů pro ukrajinské děti autorka vytváří bezpečné prostředí, v němž lze zkoumat a formulovat své emoce. Propojením vyprávění s tvorbou koláží usiluje o podporu hojivých procesů a odolnosti zúčastněných.
Validization of diagnostic methods in PTSD
Vágnerová, Anna ; Preiss, Marek (advisor) ; Heider, David (referee)
With this work, I became involved in an ongoing project of tool validation for measuring psychological trauma within the activities of the National Institute of Mental Health - Validation of tools for measuring psychological trauma. The aim of this thesis was to collect data from a clinical population with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and compare it with the results of diagnostic methods in the general population (N=303). The research clinical sample consisted of 31 respondents who, based on diagnostic criteria for PTSD diagnosis according to DSM-5, were divided into two research groups - with a probable PTSD diagnosis (N=17) and without a probable PTSD diagnosis (N=14). In this work, the results of three research groups were compared using the PTSD Checklist 5 method, which assesses the level of traumatization, and the Life Events Checklist-5 method, which examines the frequency of experienced traumatic events. At the same time, measurement of depressive and anxious symptoms of all participants was conducted to assess convergent validity. The results of statistical analysis showed that the PCL-5 method proved to be valid. The group with a probable PTSD diagnosis achieved statistically significantly higher values than the general population group, even in the results of methods measuring...
Hippocampus and consolidation of contextual memory in physiological and pathological conditions
Taskina, Sofia ; Kelemen, Eduard (advisor) ; Vlček, Kamil (referee)
afa Contextual memory and context processing are important brain abilities for learning, adap- tation, and overall life. This work aims to understand what these abilities are, what structures and processes support them, and the pathologies associated with them. Such an approach will allow evaluating the significance of contextual memory, understanding how it arises, changes, is retrieved, and forgotten, and also identifying to what extent further discoveries in this field will contribute to the development of treatments for disorders in which contextual processing has undergone alterations. afa Key words: contextual memory, contextual processing, hippocampus, memory consolida- tion, PTSD
Prospects of PTSD treatment in war veterans with psychadelic-assisted psychotherapy
Štefánik, Timotej ; Kazharski, Aliaksei (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
The work examines the prospects of the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in veterans of war with the use of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. At the moment, psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is only partially legal. The term encompasses many substances - currently the only widely-used psychedelic dissociative administered in therapy is ketamine. The substance which is most likely to be the next in the implementation queue is MDMA and psilocybin. This work examines the history of psychedelics and the sources of stigma this term carries. It also examines a number of compelling studies that are pointing to the fact MDMA-assisted psychotherapy might be a useful tool in dealing with veteran PTSD. The empirical part of this research is of qualitative nature. With the use of in-depth interviews, the author gathered data on the state of affairs of the psychedelic research in the Czech Republic and was searching for the obstacles to the implementation of psychedelic therapy. The main conclusion is that psychedelic-assisted therapy faces obstacles in implementation in the form of lack of scientific knowledge on the subject on part of the public, and also faces legal and financial hurdles. The legal hurdles might be lifted in the coming years due to the movement forward in this regard. The...
Diagnosis of PTSD - A contribution to validization per interview and questionnaire methods
Králová, Michaela ; Preiss, Marek (advisor) ; Dymešová, Gabriela (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to contribute to the validation of diagnostic methods Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist-5 and Life Events Checklist-5 intended for PTSD diagnostics. For this purpose, the practical part of this work focused on finding differences between the group of respondents from the general population (N = 303) and the clinical group of people exposed to trauma (N = 28). As part of the research of this work, a clinical group of persons who were assigned PTSD criteria according to DSM-5 and DSM-IV for posttraumatic stress disorder was created. The clinical group of persons was divided into the groups "diagnosed with PTSD" and "at risk of diagnosed with PTSD" according to the fulfilled DSM- 5 criteria. The results of statistical data analysis verify the validity of the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist-5 method, in which the clinical group of people diagnosed with PTSD achieves statistically higher results than the control group, as well as the group of people exposed to trauma at risk of PTSD. A statistically significant difference was also found between the control group of people diagnosed with PTSD and the group of people from the general population in methods measuring the rate of anxiety and depressive symptoms, confirming the convergent validity of the...

Hollasová, Sára ; Kavka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šembera, Martin (referee)
Variables predicting the effects of surgery in patients with low back pain Abstract The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the knowledge about pain and its types, especially chronic pain. Than we focus on low back pain and currently used approaches in the treatment of this syndrome. In this work we summarize the influence of central sensitization and adverse life experineces and posttraumatic stress disorder on pain (especially low back pain). In the practical part, we investigated the effect of central sensitization and adverse life events and posttraumatic stress disroder on the effect of spinal surgery in low back region. The results were obtained using Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI), PTSD Cecklist dor DSM-5 (PCL- 5) a Life Event Checklist (LEC-5 Standard), Short Form 36 Helth Survey Questionnaire (SF- 36), NASS Lumbar Spine Questionnaire. The obtained data were statistically evaluated and processed. Higher scores of CSI and LEC-5 (more adverse life events) were both statistically significantly correlated with worse low back surgery outcomes. At the same time, a statistically significant relationship between PCL-5 (checklist of PTSD symptoms) and CSI was confirmed. Keywords Pain, central sensitization, adverse life experiences, adverse life events, PTSD, posttraumatic stress disorder,...
Bullet does not differentiate - War through the eyes of contemporary Czech female reporters
Molcsánová, Simona ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Lovaš, Karol (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the mental health of war journalists in the period when this profession is undergoing significant changes. In the theoretical part, the thesis has the ambition to briefly describe the main development points of this profession from its inception to the present, which we define as a period of new wars. This is characterized by the increased danger faced by war journalists, as their originally respected, protected status has become the target of murder and kidnapping. The work of a war journalist has been transformed mainly in countries where media houses no longer have the funds to run foreign newsrooms and pay for the journeys of their journalists. Therefore, the phenomenon of freelance journalism has flourished, which gives journalists freedom at the cost of poor financial rewards and reduced security. However, the main topic of the work is the mental health of war journalists. Work stress, burnout syndrome, depression and post-traumatic disorder are mentioned as the main psychological pitfalls that the war journalist faces. An anomaly is identified that although an ordinary woman is more likely to develop PTSD than a man, a war journalist has the same probability as her male equivalent. Thus, the research part, through conducting semi-structured interviews, focuses...
Discrete Psychopathology Development in Foreign Military Mission Veterans
Král, Pavel ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Slabá, Šárka (referee) ; Vevera, Jan (referee)
Deploying soldiers in foreign missions undoubtedly represents a significant burden associated with the risk of harm to their physical and mental health. Regarding the mental health, stress represents the most significant risk factor traditionally associated with the deployment. In fact its influence during the deployment tends to be continuous since the amount of different stressors is plentiful. Traditionally, the attention of clinical psychologists, psychiatrists and researchers associated with foreign operations and their possible consequences was targeted mainly on (the) PTSD, depression or addictions. However, it appears that the soldiers also suffer from other mental health disorders. This thesis is focused not on disorders but their partial symptoms, predominantly neurotic. Initial research hypothesis presumes that if we compare the population of soldiers who have been deployed in a foreign mission with those who have not been deployed we will find (the) significant differences between the groups. We expect those who have been deployed to show a higher rate of psychopathological symptoms, probably subclinical and therefore discrete, but still more prevalent comparing to those who have never experienced the military mission environment. The data have been collected through the questionnaire...
