Diplomový projekt reflektuje autorčinu zkušenost válečné uprchlice a zkoumá koláž jako expresivní médium nabízející způsob, jak se vypořádat s traumatickou minulostí. Diplomová práce má podobu autorské knihy propojující vyprávění, koláže a ilustrace, v níž se noří do svých myšlenek a emocí prostřednictvím svého alter ega. Skládání různorodých prvků v kolážích zrcadlí proces opětovného skládání a tvoření života narušeného válkou. Součástí diplomového projektu je i zprostředkování terapeutického potenciálu koláže ostatním, zejména ukrajinským dětem, pro něž pořádá workshopy tvorby kolážových příběhů. Cílem projektu je prozkoumat koláž jako metaforický nástroj pro rekonstrukci roztříštěných životů — coby umělecké médium, ale i jako svébytný nástroj, jenž nabízí způsob, jak čelit traumatické osobní historii. Prostřednictvím vlastní tvůrčí práce a kolážových workshopů pro ukrajinské děti autorka vytváří bezpečné prostředí, v němž lze zkoumat a formulovat své emoce. Propojením vyprávění s tvorbou koláží usiluje o podporu hojivých procesů a odolnosti zúčastněných. Drawing on my personal experience of a war refugee, in my diploma project I want to explore collage as a creative medium for putting fractured pieces of my life back together and creating a new story out of the traces of the past, new things in my life today, and emerging plans for the future. Because of the war, my life has changed dramatically: I do not work in an architecture studio in Ukraine anymore, I cannot see my father and friends, I am scared that my home might cease to exist. I face an urgent need to adapt to new environment and make new plans. My own values became simpler and more human, like they came from the pages of a children’s fairytale. For my diploma project, I propose to use collage as a creative method, a coping mechanism, and a fitting metaphor for reassembling life shattered by the war. I plan to use it to reimagine my own story and to create stories with others. Storytelling can be an effective method to cope with psychological issues like PTSD, depression and anxiety, which are spreading between Ukrainians now. To this end, I would like to use it in a semi-autobiographical book combining text, collages, and illustrations. Additionally, I plan to organize collage workshops for small groups of Ukrainian children. During the workshops, I will create stories with my young participants: we will develop a character together, think of the obstacles this character needs to overcome in order to achieve its goal, and figure out a way how it could be done. Through workshops, I aim to create broader context for my book in which I hope to capture my own hopes, fears, and desires as well as to document the experience of others who, like me, face the challenges of life overturned by the war.
