Návrh naučné a turistické stezky na ostrově Sokotra
Kaplánek, Tomáš
The thesis focuses on designing an educational trail and tourist routes on the island of Socotra. The educational trail is located in the forest of dragon's blood trees (Dracaena cinnabari) on the Firmihin plateau. The route is approximately 6 km long with an elevation gain of 300 m. Ten information boards have been designed to describe the dragon's blood trees and the environmental issues affecting this area. The information provided includes issues such as land degradation, erosion, climate change and its impacts, inhibition of natural tree regeneration, and how local people influence this ecosystem. The same topics are also described in a 24-page brochure created in both Czech and English. Additionally, four tourist routes have been proposed in the work, which are color-coded, with three located in the Haggeher Mountains and one in the Homhil area. Information on the educational trail and tourist routes is also provided through the ArcGIS StoryMaps web platform.
Abundance and habitat use of reintroduced populations of the Hermit (Chazara briseis) in the Czech Republic
Pešová, Lucie ; Sedláček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Vrba, Pavel (referee)
The Hermit (Chazara briseis) belongs to the critically endangered species in the Czech Republic. Its last population survived until recently in the NPR Raná in the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area, but it has gradually declined. The specie's habitat is short-stemmed grasslands, which are maintained mainly by extensive grazing and management. Currently, these sites are declining, traditional management has changed and the sites are gradually becoming overgrown. Therefore, the reconstruction of the butterfly's habitats has been undertaken in selected localities that the butterfly used to inhabit in the past, in the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area (PR Číčov, Dlouhá hora, PP Radobýl) and in the Český kras Protected Landscape Area (Třesina, Radotín). Reintroduction of eggs and caterpillars took place in these sites in 2020-2021. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the population abundance and habitat use of the Chazara briseis at these sites immediately after reintroduction. I estimated the size of the populations using the mark-capture-recapture method in 2020 and 2021. The size of the populations in the Lonské středohoří (Dlouhá hora and Číčov) was around 400-500 individuals with a fairly balanced sex ratio. Overflights were also recorded between these sites, which may indicate...
Out of School Biology Instruction in Podpořany Region
Kantová, Ludmila ; Skýbová, Jana (advisor) ; Svobodová, Silvie (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with biological excursion of teaching in Podbořany region. This region is able to provide variety of places that are attractive in terms of science education. Excursion routes here can be suitable for pupils of primary and secondary schools and focused on different directions of biology. Particularly, it concerns botany, geology, zoology and ecology. The thesis has a theoretical part, the aim of which is to characterize the natural science excursion as a form of teaching and to describe the basic characteristics of natural science excursions. The practical part deals with the list of regional localities in terms of organizing natural science excursions, processing of proposals for excursions to selected locations with outputs in the form of worksheets and verification of these proposals for excursions in practice. Except of the selected locations characteristics the ideas also contain materials for teachers, which is useful when planning excursions for teachers from nearby schools. Part of the thesis is also a double questionnaire survey. The first focuses on the attitude of teachers in the region to excursion teaching. The aim of the second questionnaire, which was distributed to pupils, was to find out whether the excursion motivated them to a greater interest in natural...
The educational trails in the Jizera Mountains Protected Landscape Area and the interpretation of the environment in which they are located
Svárovská, Eliška ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Bittnerová, Dana (referee)
My thesis is in the field of social and cultural ecology, which examines the relationship between nature and society. I focus on mediating this relationship through research on selected nature trails found in the Jizera Mountains Protected Landscape Area. In the theoretical part, I describe the protection of nature and landscape, then I focus on the Jizera Mountains where the research took place. I mention the three-phase learning model related to the trails, as they are meant to educate us, and I also discuss interpretation. Finally, I describe the phenomenon of nature trails in general. In the empirical part, I mention a subchapter on mobile QR code technology and present the application Stepping Off the Trail for visitors of the nature trails. In the following subchapters, I focus on evaluating the nature trails using a methodology I have devised. I evaluate both verbal and non-verbal elements, focusing particularly on a comprehensive evaluation that includes an overview of interpretive panels and the thematic integration into the environment. I also examine how the nature trails present the concepts of nature and its protection as a whole, related to the learning model, and I include the five principles of proper interpretation set forth in the Methodology of Principles and Methods of...
Nature trails and their use in environmental education
Merglová, Markéta ; Thorovská, Alena (advisor) ; Zvírotský, Michal (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the concept of nature trails and their use in environment al education. In the theoretical part, I will focus primarily on the general characteristic, which appears similarly in publications. Above all, it is the basic definition of nature trails, types of nature trails, rules for creating information panels and what each nature trail should contain. F urthermore, the contribution and function of nature trails as described in printed, documented literature will appear in the thesis. Definition of the contribution of nature trails to environmental education in comparison with o ther environmental education tools according to the basic literature on nature trails. Furthermore, I will present how environmental Education (EEA) is described in the St ate EEA Programme and in the Methodological Instruction of the Ministry of Education, Yout h and Sports to provide environmental education at secondary schools, secondary vocational s chools or vocational schools, which will provide illustrative instructions on how to implement environmental education at these schools and how it is embedded in the school's documents. I will base it mainly on the online portal, specifically on atre.cz and mzp.cz. In the empirical, practical part, I will focus on the results of the...
Use of individual acoustic monitoring to study endangered species - case study on the Meadow Pipit
Helmbold, Lily Carolin ; Petrusková, Tereza (advisor) ; Beran, Václav (referee)
1 Abstract Monitoring is an essential part and prerequisite for successful conservation measures. Methods used for decades for bird monitoring provide information about species richness and partly use acoustic signals, an important communication tool not only for birds. Unique features of song allow idividual identification, but this knowledge has not yet been captured by traditional monitoring methods, but it is very important for a deeper understanding of the ecology of monitored animals. To identify individuals based on vocalisation, science is increasingly turning to a method called individual acoustic monitoring (IAM), based on unique differences in vocalisation. IAM has so far been used for simpler songs, but its applicability to complex vocalizations would be a valuable complement to traditional monitoring methods. In this paper I therefore address the question of the applicability of individual acoustic monitoring for on-site conservation measures. The study was conducted on a model species of songbird, the meadow pipit (Anthus pratensis), and individuality in song was assessed by subjective analysis of the syllable repertoires of singing males. This is an alternative approach that considers shape similarity instead of discrete syllable values. A total of 168 singing males of three European...

Vliv managementu na složení rostlinných společenstev a na ohrožené zájmové druhy NPR Vyšenské kopce
VACEK, Michal
The study assessed the impact of grazing on the composition of plant communities and endangered plant species. We studied the effect of grazing using (grazed and ungrazed control) permanent plots established 20 years ago in a semi-natural calcareous grassland in the National Nature Reserve Vyšenké kopce, and established new permanent experimental treatment plots for mowing. We compared the species composition and the numbers of species between managements and compared the results based on monitoring in different seasons of the year.
