Motivation of students and university graduates to study secondary vocational schools

This diploma thesis deals with the motivation of university graduates and students to study at a secondary vocational school and their use of selected fields in work and personal life. In the thesis, I pay attention to the origin of factors influencing the choice of education, such as their family, the usability of gained knowledge at work and in everyday life, and supplementing practical skills in their field of work. The theoretical chapter introduces the reader to the theoretical background on which the research and its outputs are based, namely the theory of sociology of professions, the process of professionalization, the theory of social constructivism, and the phenomenon of a crisis of 'office' work causing a transition to manual work. The theoretical basis is supplemented by the historical development and the current situation in education in the Czech Republic. As a method of answering the research questions was chosen an analysis of semi-structured qualitative interviews, which were supported by an analysis of quantitative data collected through questionnaires. Education plays an increasingly important role in achieving success in life and the social ladder, because every individual should have the same opportunity to study regardless of their origin, social characteristics, educational family history or other ascriptive factors. This thesis deals with an access to higher education for those who come from low-income families or families where a higher education has no family history. It describes and analyzes the current access to tertiary education in the Czech Republic in the context of the equalization of opportunities of students from families with no tradition of higher education or lower socio- economic status. The theoretical part presents information about the issue of access to higher education. It explains the concepts which are often mentioned in this thesis, describes the historical development of the right to education and the path to the right of equal access to tertiary education in a modern society. The following describes the sociological theories on educational inequality and they are applied to the specific factors influencing equity of access to tertiary education. Title: Management of Physical Education and Sport Field of Study - Students' Motivation and Studying Satisfaction. Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to identify current students and graduates ' main motives for initiating the study of Management of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University in Prague. The work maps whether the students are satisfied with their choice of study and detect whether the expectations they had before studying were met. Another aim of the thesis is to develop recommendations for increasing students' satisfaction with the field of study and to propose recommendations which may lead to the improvement of the current situation on the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. Methods: The thesis uses the method of questioning and group discussion method. The questioning method was applied on a sample of respondents comprising of all the current students of Management of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University in Prague and the graduates in this field. Group discussion method was applied to a selected sample of eight students from the researched field of study.
