Portrait of Polyxena of Lobkowicz - haptic model for the disabled people

This bachelor thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. First chapter of the theoretical part deals with the issue of renaissance woman in society. It shows a woman in role as a virgin, wife and widow; it describes education that every woman had to go through; and it looks at noble woman in point of view of aristocracy. Second chapter of the theoretical part is dedicated to a specific noblewoman Polyxena of Lobkowicz, maden name Polyxena of Pernstein and describes her lifeway. Last chapter of the teoretical part deals with the problematics of perception of visual impairment and focuses on the methodology of compensatory aids, especially haptic models for visually impaired ones. Practical part of this bachelor thesis has the goal to transform the Polyxena's paintings into the haptic model in the form of relief which is primarily intended for the blind and partially sighted.

Annotation: The diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of the portrait family galleries in the Czech Republic. Thanks to using the example of two important collections - Lobkowicz and Kolowrat, it will be shown how the ancestral portrait galleries were created, what was their significance. The thesis will focus on the evaluation of their installation, and their current state will be discussed as well. The thesis will also focus on the manner and form of presentation of individual works of these family galleries and will try to place them in a broader European context. It will be pointed out both to the client of the works, as well as the painters of portraits. The aims of the thesis will also be to evaluate in which spatial contexts the galleries were located and what representative role they played. Synopsis The aim of this diploma is to chronicle the history of the noble family of Lobkowicz of Melnik. The body of the research paper focuses on the development of the house of Lobkowicz from the beginning of the twentieth century until the present days. During this particular period of time the members of noble family of Lobkowicz have considerably participated in political, social and public life. The attention was also given to detailed description of history of family estates and land tenure during the emphasised period of time. Especially the manor of Melnik, Horin and Drahenice which were one of the main interests of new states and political constitutions forming in Central Europe during the twentieth century

Václav Chaloupecký Czechoslovak historian and archivist (1882-1951)

The aim of the presented PhD thesis is to deal with the historiographical legacy of Czech historian Václav Chaloupecký (1882-1951), the pupil of Josef Pekař and Jaroslav Goll. During the First Czechoslovak republic Chaloupecký kept the professorship of Czechoslovak history at the newly established Comenius University in Bratislava. His historiographical work has its basis in mediaevistic studies yet it also deals with the questions of contemporary history. The roots of his creativity, however, lie in poetry. Chaloupecký's work is often marked as "czechoslovakist" and positivist and due to this fact usually viewed as methodologically and ideologically obsolete. The aim of this thesis is to rethink Chaloupecký's historiographical legacy from the non-nationalistic and ideologically open minded point of view. The core of this critical approach is to show the stereotypes bound with Chaloupecký's name and last but not least to reveal the specific ideological background of Chaloupecký's work, its roots based in his individual experience with the Czech and Slovak cultural horizon and mainly in the marriage with the Slovak modernist poet Ľudmila Groeblová.
