Bednaříková, Petra ; Laufková, Veronika (advisor) ; Komberec, Filip (referee)
This master's thesis titled Developing children's emotional intelligence through a story (from the point of view of parents and teachers). For a proper understanding, in the first two chapters of the theoretical part I summarized where emotions come from, what their function is and characterized the emotional development of the child according to psychologist Marie Vágnerová. In chapter three, I first use relevant literature to present the development of the views on emotional intelligence, compare it to rational intelligence, and then describe its importance for a successful life. The fourth chapter of the theoretical part focuses on the concept of storytelling and its role in the preschool period, especially in the development of emotional skills. I provide reasons why storytelling is an appropriate way to develop emotional intelligence and also include insights into how to work with storytelling in preschool children to effectively develop emotional skills. In the practical part, using a descriptive case study, I examine how this topic is anchored among parents of preschool children and kindergarten teachers and how its knowledge is used in the education of children. Next, I investigate how emotional intelligence is developed in parenting and teaching practice and what function storytelling...

Linguistic complexity of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series
Gottwald, Michal ; Malá, Markéta (advisor) ; Jančovičová, Ivana (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the language complexity in the initial and final volumes of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, testing the hypothesis that the novels' linguistic features, impacting readability, are adjusted to the intended readers' evolving comprehension and reading skills. As the series progresses, the complexity is expected to increase, reflecting the maturation of its audience. The research investigates whether the series' later novels are syntactically and lexically more complex than the earlier ones, with the help of employing corpus stylistic methodology. The theoretical part of this thesis outlines the definition of linguistic complexity and its relation to readability and discusses various methods of analyzing literature from a linguistic perspective. The complexity is measured using various criteria: the number of tokens, types, chapters, sentences, the extent and types of clausal subordination and non-finite clauses. Sentence length and type-token ratio are also considered. The methods include frequency lists and keyword analysis, complemented by a detailed examination of text samples. KEYWORDS complexity, children's literature, sentence structure
Didactic potential of literary works with the theme of death in primary education
Bauerová, Zuzana ; Komberec, Filip (advisor) ; Laufková, Veronika (referee)
The thesis deals with the topic of death and how to convey it to the pupils of primary school by means of literature. The first aim of the thesis is to justify why the topic of death belongs in the primary school curriculum. The main reason is that if communication about the topic of death is denied to children or is done in an inappropriate way, children form wrong ideas about it, which can have a negative impact on them. This thesis explores how the concept of death evolves over time, both within society and in the individual. Another aim is to explore the specifics of working with texts containing the death motif. In fact, literature is the most appropriate tool to open up the topic of death and help individual to process it. This applies in the school environment as well as outside of it. It is caused not only by the content itself, but also because of the way the recipient processes the information received from this medium. The main aim of this paper is to compile a list of literary works suitable for dealing with the theme of death in a school setting and to briefly characterize them. I have chosen one book title for each year of primary school and proposed a methodology for the work. Ordered from first grade to fifth grade, I selected the following works: The Visit from Little Death, The...
