Qohelet's Soliloquy and its Peculiarities
Rudolf, Štěpán ; Beneš, Jiří (advisor) ; Holubová, Markéta (referee)
This diploma thesis called Qohelet's Soliloquy and its Peculiarities goes through the era of Qohelet 's origin, it describes the title of the book and resumes some of the results of biblical scholarship concerning, authorship, background and structure of this book. The thesis reconstruct the way of this book into the Old Testament scriptures. It presents it as a result of this book being used and fast placed in Jewish schools rather than a result of divine inspiration. It describes the author of this book as a Jewish man, experienced in Greek literature and trying to critically evaluate his own Jewish traditions. The book searches a Jewish answer to contemporary Greek philosophical questioning about the right way of living. The conclusion of the narrator's unceasing inquiry is rather a disappointing one, he finds out nothing but vapour, chasing the wind, wasting of both time and energy as a result of human (his own) activities. That is bitter but inevitable knowledge, since it is an innate human desire to grasp things which are out of his reach. The most important parts of the text and quotations are considered both in their original Hebrew sounding and the reputable ancient translations: the Greek Septuagint and Latin Vulgate. The key term of the book, that is to say hevel is much discussed and...

Supervision focused on the preachers of CB
Caklová, Kateřina ; Havrdová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Brnula, Peter (referee)
The diploma thesis aims to find such a form, focus, and way of conducting supervision in which the preachers of the Church of the Brethren (CB) could obtain what they need for their vocation, and the diploma thesis aims personal growth. To achieve this goal, it is important to understand the CB preacher in his environment and his needs so that supervision can be "tailored" to him. The theoretical part of this work aims to explore and describe the starting point, which is the organization of the CB and the profession of a preacher with all its aspects affecting his service. It also describes the conceptual and organizational framework of the case study and clarifies the starting points on which the supervisor is based. It deals with the concepts of supervision, reflexivity and a safe environment in supervision. The practical part in the form of an extended case study of three groups of preachers describes the process of introducing supervision for CB preachers. The process of the first group of preachers is recorded in more detail, where the supervisor notes the needs of preachers in the context of supervision, which she evaluates and, if necessary, sets changes, which she retrospectively evaluates and reflects. The inclusion of changes in the supervision process and possible setting of...
Catechetical Aspects in the Work of Rudolf Horský
Chottová, Eliška ; Bravená, Noemi (advisor) ; Tvrdek, Petr (referee)
Katechetické aspekty v díle Rudolfa Horského Catechetical Aspects in the Work of Rudolf Horský Bc. Eliška Chottová Rudolf Horský, a theologian, catechist, bishop of the Czechoslovak Church, professor and dean of the Hus Czechoslovak Theological Faculty in Prague left behind, among other things, his works on catechetical themes. These works, which include, for example, How to Work with Children (Handbook for Religious Teachers and Volunteer Lay Preachers), How to Work with Youth, and A Child in the Living Church, can still be beneficial for working in the church today, especially in religious education of children and youth. The central point of Rudolf Horský's catechetical activities were the Sunday Schools and the Youth Union, that is the institutions aimed at religious education for children and youth. Horský, of course, emphasized the methods that should be used not only in religious teaching, which is also related to the character of the preacher, or a religious educator, i.e. a teacher, who should be properly educated not only in the given issue, but also in the child's soul, in order for the teaching to be as effective as possible. 1
The Book Song of Songs as an Answer to Qohelet's Vanity
FILIPOVÁ, Anna
This thesis is concerned with, in the words of Song of Songs, finding an appropriate answer to Qohelet's vanity - vanity of a human life and things that inherently come with it, as Qohelet himself proclaims in his book. The first chapter introduces the Book of Qohelet and aims to capture the main themes of vanity and transience, while also providing the ways out from this situation, as presented by Qohelet. The second chapter introduces the reader to the Song of Songs book while also describing its content which concerns the interpretation of love between a man and a woman. The third chapter brings forward efforts of the author and the main themes and conclusions of the book are analysed. This allows - in the conclusion of this thesis - to answer the question of whether the love in the Songs of Songs is a possible answer to Qoheleth's vanity - the transience of a human life, as brought out by Qohelet in his work.
The Book of Qohelet in the Context of Ancient Philosophy
FILIPOVÁ, Anna
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze The Book of Qohelet in the Context of Ancient Philosophy. The first part of the thesis introduces the book itself, focusing on its title, authorship, place of origin and defining themes in particular. The thesis continues with a basic characteristic of four ancient philosophies: the philosophy of 6th and 5th century BC and its main herald, Heraclitus, the Aristotle philosophy and Hellenistic philosophy, namely Stoicism and Epicureanism. What follows is the comparison of the listed philosophies and the book itself. The thesis concentrates on finding similarities between the book and those contemporary philosophies. It also hopes to answer the question of whether the influential parts of those philosophies are somehow reflected in the book itself.

Kierkegaard and Ecclesiastes: The Relationship between Knowledge and Grief
Janoušková, Anna ; Marek, Jakub (advisor) ; Kružík, Josef (referee)
The presented philosophical-anthropological interpretation seeks to examine the phenomenon of "the image of humanity" (the becoming of Self) and consequently to study the human condition defined as "man longing for knowledge", all from a Christian perspective. After a thorough overview of the development of the Skeptical tradition in the history of philosophy, the two subjects of study will be interpreted, phenomenologically and exegetically, based on various texts from the Danish existencialist Søren Kierkegaard and the Old Testament book Ecclesiastes. The following comparison will enable us to see the parallel between knowledge and doubt in both of the authors' works. We shall come to a conclusion that there is an exponential relationship between knowledge and doubt: the more knowledge there is, the more doubt arises. During this interpretation, the aim will also be to trace the origin of doubt, while using the story of creation from the book of Genesis as the foundation for our study. Doubt, as we shall notice, entered the world accompanied by sin (in the form of consciousness) after Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This moment was crucial, for man committed a qualitative leap from innocence to the state of sin. Therefore, man is situated in between two extremes...
