Information Systems Assessment Methodology
Novák, Lukáš ; Fecenko, Josef (referee) ; Koráb, Vojtěch (referee) ; Molnár, Zdeněk (referee) ; Koch, Miloš (advisor)
The doctoral dissertation thesis is focused on assessment of information systems and defines the main deficiencies in operation and management of information systems in relation to processes in the department of informatics with partial overlapping into the other parts of the company. The thesis further extends the current view of assessment of information systems in the company and, in accordance with the goal of the work, it defines its own methodology, which defines the specific assessment process and subdivides its contents into individual units. The proposed methodology provides an overview of the deficiencies and possible measures in operation and management of information systems. Qualitative verification of methodology in small, medium and large companies using case studies form a part of the thesis as well.

Agile methodologies in complex environment
Balada, Jakub ; Buchalcevová, Alena (advisor) ; Pitner, Tomáš (referee) ; Antlová, Klára (referee)
Only a small number of projects of information system development succeed. Agile methodologies have contributed to a higher level of success of specific projects developed by small teams. Nevertheless, most IT companies still refuse this approach with large-scale projects. This paper comments on the conditions that must be fulfilled for agile adoption, analyzes the limitation of such processes, and describes the approaches for the solutions of such problems with the focus on projects in a complex environment. By means of a case study, the next part of the paper shows the advantages of adopting an agile approach in a real project in a complex environment, which is in conflict with the so far presented limitations of this methodology. The project was evaluated as a success, primary, due to the implementation of the agile methodology during the development phase. This implementation helped meet all the project deadlines, accelerate bug-fixing, and especially deliver functionalities which brought an additional value to the customer. Based on the findings of the case study, the procedures and practices extending the chosen agile methodology are defined. Such procedures and practices can be used in other projects in complex environments in the future. Thus, the paper shows more options for the use of these methodologies, which may help its wider use in the future and hence increasing the success of projects focused on the development of information systems. Such situation would lead to an effective interconnectedness of ICT and business strategies, especially due to the flexible delivery of currently needed ICT services.
Bank's IT department process management improvement
Holub, Jan ; Svatá, Vlasta (advisor) ; Ondruška, Marek (referee)

For the purpose of the thesis we use Cobit 5, the latest Cobit version published in 2012. Next part of the thesis is focused on describing the principles of process management and analyzing differences between line and process management. To be able to choose the appropriate modeling notation, the work uses the most common notation of process modeling -- BPMN, EPC and UML. The second part of the thesis analyses the current status of process management in an international bank using methods of questionnaire, document analysis and observation. Problems of ITSM implementation
Lukavcová, Kateřina ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor)
The main objective of this diploma thesis is to identify the problems (restrictions, impasses) which are connected with the practical implementation described in the ITIL publication - the processes of ITSM. For achieving these objectives it was necessary to study extensive library of methodologies and standards that are being used in the area of IT service management (i.e. ITIL, CobiT, and ISO 20000). The conclusion is based on the results of consultations with the practicing specialists. The form of these consultations was a questionnaire elaborated in advance. The whole thesis can be separated into two logical units: the theoretical one and the practical one. The structure of theoretical part and the content of individual chapters are designed so that the reader can progressively acquire knowledge about the position of ITSM/ITIL in the area of methodologies and legislative standards intended for operating organization as a whole. In the other part of this thesis the relationship between, actually the most prestigious, two approaches to IT service management: ITSM and IT Governance is described. The chapter presenting other similar methodologies for IT service management follows in logical sequences. The introduction of practical part is dedicated to the basic characteristics of various ways of ITSM implementation (from the position of system integrator, in the form of internal project and in the public sector). The conclusion is divided into three units of the same titles as the main headstones of ITSM, these headstones are: the people, the tools and the processes. For every single unit I have elaborated the summary of the restrictions and the impasses that can appear during practical implementation of ITSM. The main contribution of this diploma thesis is just the last-mentioned, the compilation of summary of impasses related do the practical implementation of IT Service Management.
Use of Real Options in IT Investment Valuation
Polakovič, Robert ; Šebesta, Michal (advisor) ; Bruckner, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis presents the new approach to IT investment valuation by using real options. In the introductory part the traditional methods of information investment valuation are introduced and described. It gives a detailed summary of valuation methods that could be used for valuation made in the traditional way. Next part deals with the financial options, its definition, types, parameters and methods of valuation. Some basic methods of reducing the risks (hedging) with the help of financial options are mentioned as well. After that, the real options, the difference between real and financial options, behaviour, parameters and methods of valuation are introduced. Next chapter analyses and describes the chosen frameworks for using real options in IT investment valuation. The selection was performed so as to give reader a full idea of possible ways real options could be used. Final part presents a case study where one of the chosen frameworks is applied to a real project so as to show all aspects and level of complexity of this solution.

Complete data model of ITIL
Gažmerčík, Jakub ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to design a complete ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) data model by using Entity-Relationship diagram and the argumentation of this model in relation to ITIL Configuration and Asset Management federative approach. The thesis is build of two major parts, where the first one focuses on the theory of recommendations and best practices in the IT Governance processes, its relationship to ITIL and a high-level overview of ITIL history. Theoretical part ends with the brief description of tools and methods used in data modeling. It is followed by practical part in which the content is based on analyzing of ITIL publications in the same order as IT Service Management life cycle phases and designing of the logical data model. Each chapter discusses at its end the abiliity of designed model to cover the data requirements for particular ITSM lifecycle phase. In the very last chapter, all partial models are joined into one complete data model and shown relations are argumented.
