Diet after retirement: Does working after retirement matter?
Hrušková, Barbora ; Votápková, Jana (advisor) ; Bertoli, Paola (referee)
Barbora Hrušková Abstract A balanced and healthy diet can prevent chronic and cardiovascular diseases, can- cer deaths, and other serious health problems. Following a healthy diet is therefore essential during all stages of life and old age is no exception. This thesis examines the impact of working after retirement on the diet of retirees using data from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The propensity score matching and the logit methods are performed and robust standard errors are ap- plied. Our analysis reveals that retirees who start working anew after being already retired and unemployed for some time, have by 9 pp higher probability to increase their consumption of meat, fruits & vegetables, compared to their counterparts who do not start working. No significant differences are found regarding the impact of starting to work on the change of consumption of dairy products, legumes & eggs. However, we further conclude that the probability of eating meat every day is lower by 4 pp for retirees who are working after retirement, compared to retirees who are not working after retirement. Therefore, we point out that to get a complete picture of how the diet changes based on post-retirement work, it is ideal to also observe the data regarding diet prior to retirement.

Educational program on topic of healthy nutrition targeted on preschool children
NOWÁKOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor's thesis focuses on educating preschool children about healthy diet. Children begin to form basis of their dietary habits at a very young age so it is crucial to instil fundamentals of healthy eating in them as soon as possible and do so in a comprehensible way. This was one of the main goals of this thesis. The theoretical part contains definition of preschool age as well as brief characterization of healthy dieting in general. Then it focuses on more in-depth description of healthy diet of pre-schoolers. It also mentions some mistakes to avoid in children's dieting. And finally it also contains a piece of information about few educational programs that revolve around the topic of healthy dieting suited for kindergartens. Practical part focuses on education itself and also on evaluating its efficiency. The aim was to map current state of knowledge of children about healthy diet, try to expand it and then evaluate the effect. Most of these children had certain amount of awareness of healthy dieting but I observed big differences in the level of knowledge. After educating and putting their knowledge to test again they appeared to know more and differences seemed to get wiped off.
Problems of diabetic diet in spa
ŠTÍCHOVÁ, Kateřina
This bachelor thesis deals with the problems of diabetic diet in spa, specifically in the Peat Spa Třeboň, sanatorium Aurora. In the theoretical part I focused on the diabetes mellitus disease in general. In the first part we can find there the description of the carbohydrate metabolism, the brief anatomy of main organs that are related to the disease, epidemiology, classification, therapy and diabetes' affiliated complications. The next part of the theory defines specialistic recommendations for the diabetic diet itself. The third part describes the history and present of Czech Spas and possibilities of the food consummation in spa including diets. There were three goals determinated for this thesis. First of them was to map the possibilities of the diabetic diet in the spa, the second one was to analyse spa menu and to realize if it was suitable for the diabetics and the last goals was to compare patient's menu with the spa-one and to find their differences. In the practical part I evaluated the suitability of the spa menu for the type 2 diabetics by using the qualitative research's methods. Afterward I compared this menu with patients' menus. There were 8 patients of the Aurora sanatorium with type 2 diabetes in my research. The menus were evaluated in Nutriservis Proffesional nutrition software. I mainly noticed the total daily energy intake, carbohydrates, fats, proteins and mono- and disaccharides in the research. The results of the research show that spa menu is despite of some slight imperfections suitable for the type 2 diabetics and it corresponds with the recommendations for the diabetic diet. In the comparison of home menus and the spa-ones, the most of the patients boards better and more regular in the spa. But, as we can see by the results, there is an essential need of patients' education in the nutrition area and also a necessary cooperation with the specialists (diabetologists, nutritional therapists) in their treatment.
