Wage differentials Men and Women in the Professional Category of Scientists and Knowledge Workers

This thesis is concerned with different incomes of men and women in the professional category of scientists and intellectual workers and aims to describe the reasons and the degree of income inequality between men and women in this category and in the conditions of the Czech Republic. The theoretical resources of the thesis are a compilation of facts and opinions of the authors and scientists who are engaged in the area of (gender) income inequality. The chapters gradually reveal the state of gender inequality in selected regions of the world - the U.S.A, Asia and Europe, including the legislative framework. The following chapter is based on available statistical information reflects the situation in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part ends with a description of the indicators of income inequality. Practical part of this thesis works with SILC2009 data for the category of scientific and intellectual workers in terms of dependent variables affecting the amount of income for both sexes and compares the results against each other. For complete the overall view on the topic of gender income inequality was made research of respondents' awareness of the issue
Discrimination in the labour market, gender wage differences

This diploma thesis deals with the position of women in the labour market, focusing on gender wage differences. It describes the problem of discrimination against women and the different valuation of women's and men's work. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses on the basic terminology and overview of Czech and European legal regulations, which should ensure an equal access for women and men. Essential part of this work is to analyze the wage gap by using Gender Pay Gap index and the factors, that affects this gap. Wage differences are analyzed at the level of national economy and also at the level of individual proffesional groups. A separate chapter is devoted to analyzing the macroeconomic factors that are considered the most important causes of differences in women's and men's income. The thesis presents statistical data, which explains the different position of women in the labour market and also provides evidence of wage discrimination against women. Results of the analysis are set into the Czech and European context.
Unequal pay for men and women

This thesis deals with unequal pay for equal work or work of equal value between men and women. The issue of unequal pay between the sexes has its historical roots, but in the second half of the 20th century, an increasing in exploration inrecent years, there are efforts to address this issue became a publich choice. The main aim of the study is to identify the causes of unequal pay between men and women.is now seen as an adverse majority and there are a number of efforts -- whether legislative (prevention and restriction), economic as well as changes in socio-cultural perceptions of the women status in society. It is important therefore to analyze the tools to eliminate or reduce those differences in the gender pay gap. The result of this work is a comprehensive look at the issue of different pay for man and women -- the historical development and current status, which can be bear predict the future developments within the EU and ČR. After reading the work a reader should create opinion on whether the labour market is examined objectively, the difference in pay between men and women, whether it is a deliberate violation of the principle of equal pay.
Discrimination on labour market, gender wage gap

The issue of gender equality as a part of more general problem of equal opportunities has become a horizontal problem of the European Union. Despite the general interest and different actions, the inequality between men and women on labour market is still strong. In the present work we study gender inequalities on the labour market in the Czech republic and Slovak republic in the context of situation on the labour market in the European Union. We study the main indicators of gender inequalities on labour market: employment and unemployment rate of men and women. The next important indicator is a gender pay gap, which is related to horizontal gender segregation of labour market according to sectors of national economy and vertical segregation, which we will study on the example of managerial functions. We show that there are significant gender inequalities on the labour market in the Czech republic and Slovak republic and for majority of indicators these two countries are behind the average of the European Union.

The bachelor thesis deals with discrimination in the labour market, focusing on gender pay gap. The theretical part describes gender differences from the sociological perspective, problems of coordination of privat life and work and gender integration in the companies. The aim of practical part is analysis of actual situation in the labour market in term of gender. In conclusion are placed results of questionnaire survey, which analyses experiences of interviewed people in discrimination.
Gender segregation in the labour market: roots, implications and policy responses in the Czech Republic

This study presents an analysis of the situation of the Czech Republic, a country with one of the highest levels of gender segregation in the labour market of all EU countries. The segregation of women into low-income professions, firms and employment groups plays a very important role in the Czech Republic and is the cause of approximately one-third of the gender pay gap. At present the gender segregation of the labour market is not a topic that is being discussed at the political level.
Alternative work arrangements and their connection with discrimination against women on the labour market

This thesis deals with the alternative work arrangements in Europe, namely flexitime and part-time. The theoretical basis is built on the theory of preferences and takes into account household labour supply considering also household production. The aplication part compares and contrasts situation in corresponding European countries with special reference to identification the differences between men and women. As a next step, regression and correlation analysis is used in order to identify relationship between part-time ratio and other variables. It was found that there is no relationship between part-time ratio and gender wage gap. Furthermore, there is a statistically significant relationship between GDP per capita and women part-time ratio, which helps to explain the differences among corresponding countries.
Salary differentiation assessment in the Czech Republic

The work analyzes the development and salary differentiation in the Czech Republic and focuses on the wage differentials between men and women. It evaluates the impact of factors, which may influence salary, like age, education, work classification (KZAM) and region, where an employer works. Women labour market condition goes before the own analysis.

The diploma thesis deals with the status of women in the labour market. The thesis outlines gender issues and focuses on the principle of equal opportunities for men and women, which has become largely a public issue. The thesis aims to explore two areas in the sphere of employment. The first aim is to detect differences in the status of women in the labour market regarding the level of employment equality and to identify factors that affect them. The second aim is focused on finding differences in the gender pay gap and to identify factors that determine them. The situation of women in the labour market and the wage differences is a statistical examination of data on the Czech Republic. The thesis presents a conclusive explanation of gender inequality in the labour market and the problem of harmonizing work and family life. The legislation is also presented, which represents the efforts of the state to eliminate unequal access to women. Results of the analysis made comprehensive findings of developments and current status of women in the labour market set in a European context.
