Development of communication skills in children with specific language impairment

The bachelor thesis focuses on speech therapy, specifically on the development of communication skills in children with developmental language disorders. The theoretical part includes two chapters. The first chapter deals with the theoretical background and then the developmental language disorder itself. The theoretical background defines communication, speech, and language, and describes the development of speech, language, and communication, as well as impaired communication skills. The etiological classification of impaired communicative ability is also briefly mentioned. At the end of the chapter, neurodevelopmental disorders, their common features and classification, diagnosis and therapy are defined. The second chapter deals with developmental language disorder. Specifically, it describes its classification, terminology, etiology, symptomatology, diagnosis, and therapy. The empirical part includes a qualitative research investigation consisting of two case studies of selected children with developmental language disorder. The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the development of communication skills of selected preschool children with developmental language disorder. Development of children's communication skills with different Mother Tongues in pre-school education

This bachelor thesis focuses on analyzing methods of speech development skills of kids with different mother languages in preschool education. Main goal of this thesis is to get knowledge applicable in work with kids with different mother language and in developing their communication skills. Theoretical part is based on information from proffesional literature, current legislation and electronic information sources which desrcibe definitions of terms communication, speech and language, ontogenesis of child's speech till preschool age and specifics of bilingual child's speech development. In this thesis is also a describtion of Czech preschool education system and it is focused on a group of kids with different mother languages. The empiric part is processed in the form of qualitative research. The case study desrcibes development of communication skills of three kids with different mother language and the methods that are used.

The first theoretical chapter presents the issue of communication in a view of behaviorism and compares this approach with classical linguistics. Use of mediated learning in the development of communication skills of preschool children

Thesis deals with the use of mediated learning experience in the focus on the communication skills of preschool children. Thesis follows up the theoretical knowledges of preschool education especially content of it and related to main documentes. Thesis describes the development of child in preschool age and describes the speech development and speech impairments. Thesis is focused on the mediated learning experience, its principles, goals and also on the theory of structural cognitive modifiability. In the last part of thesis is describede the program of Feuerstein instrumental enrichment, which is the main part of the research. The goal of thesis is to analysed the use of the Feuerstein instrumental enrichment program in the focus on development of preschool children's communication skills.
Current approaches in the speech therapy for children with Down syndrome

The thesis discusses the specific therapeutic methods and techniques that can be used in the context of speech therapy for children with Down syndrome who suffer from symptomatic speech disorder. The thesis includes the complete terminological definition of Down syndrome etiology, diagnosis and detailed elaboration of the therapeutic methods. It also includes complementary therapies that contribute to the overall development of the child's communication skills. The main objective of the thesis is to analyze the speech therapy. It may be an inspiration for speech therapists, parents, teachers in kindergartens and primary schools who take care of children with Down syndrome and want to contribute to improvement of communication skills of the children. The thesis can be a starting point for further scientific work that deals with similar issues.
