Media image of the Soviet Union in selected Communist and Christian Democratic weeklies during the Third Czechoslovak Republic

Media image of the Soviet Union in selected Communist and Christian Democratic weeklies during the Third Czechoslovak Republic The paper deals with selected aspects of the media image of the Soviet Union during the Third Czechoslovak Republic. Its aim is to analyze the mechanisms of media image construction in two journals of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and in two weeklies of the Czechoslovak People's Party. Partial aim represents an effort to compare the resemblance of discourse of the USSR between Communist and Christian Democratic journals and then effort to capture eventual changes of the discourse image during the analyzed period. To achieve the objective we use method of critical discourse analysis inspired by the design from the pen of J. P. Gee. The first part presents historiographical outline of specific socio-political conditions of the Third Republic. Second, theoretical and methodological chapter provides an overview of the conceptual framework embedding that is used for the text analysis. The research part identifies that some discursive aspects of the image of the USSR in Communist and Christian Democratic conception seem to be diversifying over time, others are different from the outset.
Zruč nad Sázavou during period 1945-1948. Memories, memorials, reality

This banchelor thesis "Zruč nad Sázavou during period 1945-1948: memories, memorials, reality" contains a description of all the important events that occurred in the postwar period in this town. The thesis is divided into six key chapters. The first chapter introduces to the reader the town and its genesis and development till the Second World War period. Also war acts are not omitted, which greatly influenced life in the small town. The second chapter deals with the local uprisings and changes that have brought these moments in May. The following three principal chapters descrie the development of the town after occupation. Local Communist Party, a post-war elections and the Communist takeover are mentioned as well. The last chapter is devoted to the company Bata, which was most affected by the post-war changes. In this thesis are also testimonies of witnesses who remember the events of that period.

Campaign against sionism in Rudé právo during the years 1951-1952

This thesis is focused on describing the image of a zionists, which was used and presented to public by being published in Rudé právo during the time of the imprisonment of Rudolf Slánský. From 23.11.1951 to 3.12.1952 which was the day when he was executed. It deals with propaganda, which surrounded the trial. The goal of this thesis is to analyse how was the accusation of zionism constructed and what arguments were used. It was decided to use Rudé právo, as it held prominent position in the workings of propaganda of Communist party of Czechoslovakia. It was also the central press body of Communist party. The main goal of thesis was achieved by researching the articles, which were published during the time author was focused on. The propaganda which was aimed to reach the wide public was analysed. For the purposes of my paper, I divided the propaganda in several categories depending on its content. By that i determined that the creators of the trail and the accusations were mainly focused on accusations linked to finances and economy. By that they tried to use the long established stereotypes linked to jewish minority. The thesis deals with investigation of activities of Catholic sports association Czechoslovak Eagle from the beginning of the century to the Second World War. It describes its history and explains its most important activity with reference to the activities in South Bohemia, in particular in Jindřichův Hradec and Třeboň. It explains the aims of its work as well as the historical value with reference to particular examples. Its how is the main meaning in connection of spirituality and materialism. The first part describes the history of Czechoslovak Eagle, its foundation, organization, and, its most interesting historical moments. The second part describes its activities in the region of South Bohemia. The third part sets the Eagle's work in Třeboň into the historical context. The fourth does the same with the Eagle's work in Jindřichův Hradec.
