Parking Planning and Calculation
Ježek, Jan ; Heinrich, Jaroslav (referee) ; Radimský, Michal (advisor)
The purpose of this diploma thesis „Parking Planning and Calculation„ is car parks at selected buildings. The goal of this thesis is to optimize the selected of targeted units for calculate the number of parking spaces. First part of the work is focused on the measurement itself and data analysis. The next part of the work consists of comparison of calculated parking places according to standards with real number of parking places.
Determinants of car-sharing use: Autonapůl Case study
Baudyšová, Anita ; Ščasný, Milan (advisor) ; Pavlovová, Anna (referee)
This thesis investigates car-sharing use by subscribers of that time of Auton- apůl, the longest operated App platform in the Czech Republic. First, we analyse the mileage of the App subscribers and survey respondents, finding different behaviour patter among the users who did not participate in the sur- vey. Survey participants use the App more actively (89% with non-zero km) and drive on average more (154 km a month) than the App users who did not agree to participate in the survey (65% and 85 km, respectively). Then, we analyse demand on kilometres driven by survey respondents, treating the potential selectivity due to reported zero mileage. We compare OLS and two selectivity models - two-stage Heckman and two-part models. The study also examines the impact of usage frequency on kilometres driven. Those who drive more frequently also drive more - users who used the App at least once a week drive almost ten times more kilometres than those who used the App less than once a month (395 km versus 53 km a month). We find that age, use for leisure purposes, satisfaction, and having children are associated positively, and car ownership is associated negatively with mileage driven by car-sharing. This study enhances the topic of car-sharing by examining determinants of car-sharing use and its underlying...
Analysis of Determinants of Carsharing
Špiroch, Jakub ; Chytilová, Julie (advisor) ; Hájek, Jan (referee)
Shared economy is a phenomenon becoming more prevalent in our society. The study explores the case of business-to-consumer (B2C) carsharing. Using a unique cross-sectional data set, which is compiled by aggregating several city- specific demographic and geographic factors, we construct several models which should be explanatory on the characteristics of cities, where car sharing is ac- tive and successful. Firstly, a logistic regression is employed to estimate the impact of predefined factors on the presence of B2C car sharing in a city. We find out that there is significantly positive relationship between the presence of prestigious university and active shared mobility platform. Furthermore, we introduce the OLS regression with log-level functional form to estimate, what determinants affect the quantity of cars in cities. Additionally, we provide explanation on demographic and geographical variables, which have the most defining impact on the prosperity of car-sharing. In conclusion, several sugges- tions on future research and studies based on carsharing success are presented. Low cost travelling: comparison of hitchhiking and ridesharing
Urbanec, Matěj ; Mervart, Michal (advisor) ; Kalousek, Petr (referee)
There are many ways of travelling, but lots of them are, especially for students, too costly. This thesis focuses on low cost methods of road transportation, which are hitchhiking and ridesharing, which anyone can afford to travel by. The aim of this thesis is to compare these specific forms of transportation from different perspectives and try to determine the trends of their future development. In the theoretical part hitchhiking and ridesharing are discussed from a historical perspective and there are also described trips, for which these methods can be used. The practical part analyzes the servers that provide ridesharing and compares the two forms of transport from different points of view.
New Approaches to Entrepreneurship Applied Through a Business Plan
Caspe Pikhartová, Dagmar ; Hartman, Ladislav (advisor) ; Brůhová Foltýnová, Hana (referee)
This master's thesis deals with the potential for a car-sharing service in Prague. The service allows renting cars for a specified number of hours. Car-sharing is a commonly offered service in cities of the developed world. The theoretical section of the thesis introduces car-sharing and the current level of its adoption. Next, two conceptual bases for the development of the business plan are presented. The first is the macroeconomic theory of natural capitalism. At the theory's core is the recognition of the importance of natural capital. An improvement in protection of natural capital can be achieved by raising the consumption of services, instead of material products. In the case of car-sharing, the consumer only pays for the actual use of car, not for the ownership. The second concept is social entrepreneurship, which is an inspiring alternative to managing a business entity. Its goal is not only financial gain, but also positive social impact. The impact in case of car-sharing is in lowering the number of vehicles on the road and improvement of quality of life in cities. The business plan includes two financial alternatives. The thesis concludes that running a car-sharing organization in Prague is conceivable, but requires support from the municipality. Car-sharing cannot be expected to generate quick profit, but rather the profit model builds slowly. The final part of the thesis presents balanced scorecard developed for the first year of operation with the goal of achieving the optimistic alternative modeled in the business plan. The key to success in the first year is gaining and retaining customers.
Influence of automobile transportation on environment and possibilities of reduction of using of private automobiles
