The principle of freedom of conscience in the Czechoslovak Church in the years 1920-1924

The principle of freedom of conscience is supporting and typical principle for the Czechoslovak Hussite Church as can be seen already from the age before creation the new Church. We can find the mention in the articles in reform-modernist magazine The right of the nation by Alois Spisar or even in Farský's writing The Czech Church problem, which calls for freedom of conscience. Czechoslovak Church consciously follows the Master John Hus with its conception of freedom of conscience. According to Farský, freedom of conscienceis the only dogma of Czechoslovak Church, right in the sense of Hus. We can talk about following on Hus in case of freedom of conscience in sense of the freedom to full intrinsic binding to the law of God,Christ's law, as it is written by Hus, or to the spirit of Christ as it is used in Czechoslovak Church. The spirit of Christ is a requirement, which God claims to us through Jesus Christ and which is not in the litera of Scripture, it is somehow hidden behind it. Adult Catechetics in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church as an Open Path of God's Word towards Modern Society

RESUMÉ The purpose of this thesis was to outline the current state of catechesis in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and basic regularities of the andragogic discipline as the science of adult education. We put these findings in the context of adult life, which is based in the postmodern era and secularized society. The first chapter dealt with the specifics of contemporary life and the needs of the post-modern man living in a secularized world. In the second chapter we entered the path of God's Word. We interpret the Word of God in the theology of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and pointed out the personal / personalistics dimension of the relationship between man and God In the third chapter, we introduce catechesis as a theological discipline. We captured its mission and emphasis from theoretical and practical point of view, and we have followed with the fourth chapter and the specific concept of catechesis in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. We focused on its development, legislative basis and especially methods of catechesis. The fifth chapter describes andragogy as a scientific discipline. Celebrating the Hussite Triennium as an example of church public communication

This work is concerned with church communication in the Czech Republic, focusing on the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. Using case study, it looks at it as the church is organization with its own corporate communication and examines a concrete campaign ‚the Hus Fest 2015' from the marketing perspective. The aim of the text is to find the specifics of church communication of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and to come up with new recomendations. These are summed up at the end in ten key points. The text proceeds from a very general part about communication to differences in public sector communication trought church communication to end with the specifics of The C. H. church communication. The writing was formed during the process of developing the campaign of Hus Fest. Besides the author's experience, it draws particulary from the schemes of Cornellisen's Corporate Communiaction and Kotler's Marketing in the Public Sector.

Prague Hussite Churches from the Thirties of the 20th Century

This bachelor thesis deals with the theme of Prague Hussite churches from thirties of the 20th century. The first part of this thesis is devoted to a history and basic ideas of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church necessary for overall understanding of this topic. Afterwards the author tries to characterize a general approach to a liturgical space and describe the issue of erecting buildings of this new church during the interwar period. The main part of this thesis is closely concerned with four Prague Hussite churches which were built in the thirties. Chapters of this core part are dedicated to the Hussite churches in Vršovice, Vinohrady, Smíchov and Holešovice.

Church views on euthanasia in the Czech Republic

This Master's thesis named "Approaches of Czech Churches towards Euthanasia" studies the topic of euthanasia through position papers of four selected churches active in the Czech Republic. The four examined churches are Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, and Czechoslovak Hussite Church whereas documents published by ecumenical panels are studied as well. The goal of the thesis is to create a statement overview of these four churches. First, the work introduces the topic itself, explains basic terms and development of different approaches. Second, it analyses position papers of examined churches which are subsequently compared in order to find the aspects which are common to the all four churches.

Summary: Srovnání základních věroučných dokumentů CČSH a ČCE The Comparison of the basic doctrinal Documents CČSH and ČCE Michal Vejvoda The Comparison of the basic doctrinal Documents in their broader context has lead into surprising discovery of their similarity, though with more or less important differences. Especially the doctrine of faith (rules of faith), by which ČCE (Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren ) finds their source by interpretation of the Word of God while inspired be the Holy Spirit and for CČSH (Czechoslovak Hussite Church) it is the Spirit of Christ. With a closer look at it you will find a similar concept of this rule. Another difference is a concept and approach towards the church itself, CČSH talks about God's Church as a visible, tangible human fellowship, whereas ČCE talks about an invisible God's Church, operating within concrete fellowship. Another difference, this time practical one, is a number of celebrated, (served) sacraments; nonetheless this difference is suppressed by its similarity and the approach towards them. The Second Liturgy of Czechoslovak Hussite Church

Presented work has in its first part tried to evaluate both textual and theological development of the liturgy in the Czechoslovak (Hussite) church. It has focused on Farsky's translation of the Roman Mass from 1919, first liturgical reforms of the young church, liturgical diversification and unifiction in newly conceived liturgy by Karel Farsky in 1923. The work further follows development of such liturgy, especially its revision in 1939 and attempts of liturgical renewal in seventies and eighties of the twentieth century. The final conclusion of the thesis resides in stating that revision was crucial for blurring certain parts of Farsky's liturgy. It was not conciliated with Učení, official doctrinal document of the Church, and also didn't stay in line with its origin. The main part of the work is focused on analysis of singular parts of Second Liturgy s it was adopted by Assembly in 1991. We attempt to compare this liturgy with earlier versions as mentioned above. This thesis particularly states, that recent version of the Second Liturgy presents two parts of the liturgy of the Word,when the first reading is sharply distinguished from the rest. The Oldest Community of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church in České Budějovice in the years 1920-1948

This master´s thesis informs about community of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church in České Budějovice in the years 1920-1948. The thesis highlights the membership of this church and how it grew in the early 1920?s, it also focuses on the establishment of the house called Husův sbor, on communities existing within the church, and on the reflections of other townspeople on this church. There are three main sources for this thesis: the documents of a private archive of this church in České Budějovice, the documents belonging to the State District Archive in České Budějovice and the documents accessible on the webpage of the State Regional Archive in Třeboň. Additionally, regional newspapers from that time were used. The aim of this thesis is to study the history of this second largest denomination in České Budějovice, which appears to be rather neglected in the Czech scholarly literature. The author believes that the thesis could contribute to a better understanding of this church and of the history of České Budějovice.

The Transfer Movement in Pisek (1918 - 1922)

The thesis deals with the religious life in the town of Pisek in the time period of 1918 - 1922. The first part considers religious circumstances in the context of creation and development of the Czechoslovak Republic. It pays special attention to the so called "cultural struggle" when two trends of progress were consolidated - "away from Habsburgs" and "away from Rome". The text draws connection between the reform movement within the Catholic Church and formation of the Czechoslovak Church. It briefly characterizes the changes in evangelical churches and describes the Transfer Movement phenomenon in concurrence with the census. The second part focuses on specific expressions of the Transfer Movement in the town of Pisek. It uses data found in Church sources, records of announced withdrawals and transfers kept by religious organisations and in the period press. In the core of this section is the confrontation of activities and viewpoints carried out by representatives of three churches - the Catholic, the Czechoslovak and the one of Czech Brethren.
