Czech language teaching materials for pupils with hearing impairment and Czech language teaching materials for pupils of the second level of primary school (Fraus publishing house)

The bachelor thesis is focused on evaluation, particularly of printed educational materials, for teaching the Czech language - grammar textbooks on the lower secondary school level, intended for pupils with hearing impairment and for pupils of the mainstream education. The theoretical part contains enumeration and characteristic of particular types of educational materials; and also the factors that influence their selection. Based on the study of professional literature, it observes the development and specifics of educational materials of the Czech language for students with hearing impairment. The thesis further summarizes general knowledge related to the education of deaf pupils and briefly describes the acquisition and teaching of the Czech language in these pupils. In addition, the theoretical part includes a list of Czech publishers that publish teaching materials of the Czech language for pupils with hearing impairment, and a summary of publishers publishing teaching materials of the Czech language intended for pupils in the mainstream education. Czech language in deaf children's lower secondary education

Presented bachelor's thesis is focused on problems of teaching of Czech language to deaf and hard of hearing students on lower secondary education. The first part of the thesis provides general description of hearing impairment, communication options for deaf and hard of hearing people and basic information on educating deaf and hard of hearing pupils. Next part is focused on teaching of Czech language to deaf and hard of hearing pupils containing listing of available materials, description of differences between educating a pupil who prefers Czech language in communication and pupil who prefers Czech Sign Language. It also define language competencies in written speech of deaf and hard of hearing pupils. The goal is to call attention to very small number of universal research works focused on language competencies of deaf and hard of hearing pupils, pinpoint the current deprivation of teaching materials for pupils who prefer Czech language in communication and prepare a suitable worksheet for pupils who prefer Czech languege based on the gain knowledge.

The Communication of Teachers in the Secondary Schools for Hearing impaired in Czech Republic

This diploma thesis deals, in a broader sense, with classroom interaction betwen students and history teachers at secondary schools for hearing impaired in the Czech Republic. In a narrower sense, it examines a pattern of teacher's language behaviour and his/her motivation when choosing relevant language means during his/her history classes. The work consists of two parts - theoretical specialized background, and practical research. The theoretical part gives an overview of the relevant specialized terminology used in the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as a short insight into the development of classroom interaction between a student and a teacher at special schools and pays attention to the developmental linguo-didactic aspects in the Czech schools for hearing impaired. The practical part uses qualitative research as a means of a research method. I have observed and filmed history classes at three secondary schools for hearing impaired. As my research interests laid within the above mentioned research technique, I did not assess teaching methodology of the teachers. I focused mainly on the form of teacher's communication.
