Evaluation of two diagnostic tools used to diagnose school readiness

The thesis is devoted to the issue of school readiness and its diagnosis. The aim was to compare the two tests used for the testing of school readiness and to assess whether the comparatively evaluate some aspects of school readiness. In the first chapter of the theoretical part the area of development of preschool children in describe. The second chapter is devoted to major changes in the legislation of our education. The next two chapters (third and fourth) are on school readiness, enrollment in elementary and diagnostics of school maturity. The last, fifth chapter of the theoretical part, deals with immaturity and unpreparedness for entry into school. In the practical part I focused on in-house testing and evaluation of tests used. For testing, I chose two tests used to evaluate school maturity. The results of the two tests I tried using statistical methods to determine whether these tests evaluate comparatively. Diagnosing school maturity

Annotation: Thesis characterizes contemporary nursery and basic school, direct basic methods and forms mutual cooperation these institutions and points out how to facilitate children the transition from pre-school to primary education. The methods which have used are method of observation and the structured interview. Observation was carried out on the selected nursery and basic schools. Interviews were realized with directors or executives these institutions and with experts from pedagogical- psychological counseling. The aim of the thesis was to find out how take place school enrollment in the current elementary schools, how the students are successful/unsuccessful, what are the most common reasons for postponements schooling. Thesis also shows that preschool children are able in a relatively short period of time of great expansion capability. Another aim was to determine the forms and methods of cooperation of individual nursery and primary schools. Work also points to the possible difficulties of children in nursery or later difficulties at the beginning of schooling. Children Preparedness to Beginning of Compulsory Education from Social-cultural Handicapped Background

This thesis is focused on the issue of children coming from socially and culturally disadvantaged environment before their entry to the compulsory education from a socially- pedagogical point of view. It describes the influence of the environment the child lives in, its family, the community, and the living conditions affecting its readiness for admission to an elementary school. The nature of work is theoretical work and research. The theoretical part of the thesis in quires into such terms as socialization, family, social and cultural disadvantage, the Roma, preschool education, and their interdependence. It describes the current methods used for recognizing the school maturity and preparedness for an entry to the compulsory education of children in the Czech Republic. It compares the most common institutional forms of preparation for the compulsory education, i.e. nursery school and preliminary classes at elementary schools that are designated especially to the children of socially and culturally disadvantaged background. Education in preparatory classes

The thesis titled "Education in the preparatory classes", is focused on issues related to the opening of preparatory classes in the Central Region. Assessing school readiness and preparedness and describes the educational field for preschool age children. It includes analysis of rules that must be respected in the establishment and operation of preparatory classes in terms of legislation, education and training, on his terms, fillings and organizations. Research section clarifies the issue of opening preparatory classes in the district of Pribram and Benesov district. Compares the results of children from the preparatory classes and courses from pre-orienteering tests of school readiness. This thesis deals with the issue of school readiness and procedures for the assessment. It focuses on achieving individual developmental areas for children before they enter school, the conduct of the assessment of maturity and option diagnostic tools. The objective of this work is to identify most vulnerable and high-risk areas for school children before entering school and the possibility of stimulation. It also presents the possibility of using screening tests and presentation of their results. The aim of this thesis is based on the utilization of available screening tests in a sample of children, including the latest diagnostic tools maters, the practical part of the work and the conclusions of this thesis, which dealt with the appropriate options stimulation attenuated developmental areas. Role of the teacher and his/her responsibility in assessing student's maturity when enrolling in the first grade of primary school

The topic of this diploma thesis is devoted to the issue of a children enrolment to the first form of a basic school as an important milestone in their life. The theoretical part deals with the topic of the enrolment in its full scale. The author presents an overview concerning the issue of school maturity, school preparedness and their diagnostics. Further she deals with the topic of a postponement of school attendance and legislation. The main chapter of the theoretical part is the topic of competencies which a teacher of primary education should have at disposal during enrolments. In the practical part of this diploma thesis the author gives space to teachers, who, by means of a questionnaire and an unstructured interview, reflect their opinions and feelings concerning their role during enrolments. The author deals with their pedagogical competency. The teachers have an opportunity to present their opinions about the current form of the enrolment procedure. The outcome of this thesis is a discussion about usefulness of the current enrolment procedure and concrete suggestions for a change.

School adulthood diagnostics Abstract: This thesis is devoted to the topic school adulthood and its diagnostics by the children in the pre-school age. In the theoretic part there are included basic information about the ontogeny of a child in the pre-school age and contemporary conception of pre-school aducation. There are explained the expressions school adulthood, school preparedness, postponement of obligatory shool attandance, partial functions and shortages of these functions here as well. There are also described the possibilities how to diagnose the functions that are neccessary for the sucessfull acquirement of school skills. You can find the information about the enrolment of a child to the basic school too. The aim for the empiric part is to find out if it is possible to contribute to the improvement of the choosen partial functions by the aid of their regular stimulation by the pre-school children and in this way to increase a change for the successful acquirement of school skills. I had made my exploration through four diagnostic tests focused on the choosen partial functions in two kindergartens in Prague.
Assessment of the readiness of children at compulsory school teaching public and family

The main goal of the thesis was to detect and subsequently present a comprehensive views of educational society and parents for the current issue of school preparedness and its related issues concerning the high number of school attendance delay. To obtain these views was used a method of semi-structured interviews with parents, teachers from preparatory classes and teachers from nursery and primary schools. When analysis of testimony was finished, has been used and also elected procedure confrontation between these dates, then confrontation with professional publications, articles, web discussion forums and also primary data which was find out at conference that was organized on this topic. After the research was found that the issue of school preparedness affects to other issues like: an education and qualification of nursery teachers, the quality of cooperation between school and family, problems of capacity classrooms in nursery and solving number of children and age composition of class, accountability for school readiness child etc. The results of this thesis indicate what opinions have the family and educational public on the current status of the school preparedness disadvantages of children and also parts of school preparedness, in which today's children mainly excel. The thesis deals with the issue of delay, schooling in the Czech Republic. Responding to the high percentage of children with delayed schooling in kindergartens. In the theoretical part, the author wants to provide general information about the suspension of schooling, who shall decide on the suspension of schooling and will address why the delay of schooling so much nowadays, will focus on the diagnosis of school maturity in the pedagogical-psychological counseling and pedagogical Diagnostics by means of the teachers in kindergartens. A significant portion will be devoted to the issue of educational work in kindergarten. In the practical part will then outlined examination in the pedagogical-psychological counseling, development of individual educational plan for the development of the most common areas that postponement of the schooling grants, and games for kids with the deferment of the schooling. Partial case reports will be complemented by interviews with the parents, how is the decision making process of schooling. Pupil with communication disorders in preparatory class

The bachelor thesis "Pupils with Communication Disorders in Preparatory Classes" analyses the issues of preparatory classes. It develops the competences of school readiness and preparedness. The thesis summarizes the speech development as a basis for the diagnosis of communication disorders. It declares the positive effects of preparatory classes on the development of communication skills of children with postponed school entry in the region of Prague 9. The thesis proves the need to include children with communication disorders into preparatory classes. It offers the possibility to the parents of children attending preparatory classes to express their opinions on the functioning of these classes. It informs parents of preschool children in the region of Prague-East about the existence of preparatory classes and it monitors the level of parents' awareness. A mixed-method research is applied in the study. It combines a quantitative method - a questionnaire - and qualitative methods - structured dialogues and case studies. In the conclusion of the thesis practical recommendations are offered: amendment of the Education Act and the implementation of school-readiness testing at the beginning and at the end of the school year.
