Consequences of opposition agreement
Eibl, Lukáš ; Novák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Švec, Radek (referee)
This bachelor's thesis examines the implications and impacts of the opposition agreement between the political parties the ČSSD and the ODS. The introduction is the definition of the way for the conclusion of the contract and the circumstances of its creation. Subsequently the work deals with the analysis and definition of the main causes leaded up to the opposition agreement. On the basis of these causes are identified major themes and objectives of both opposition parties including the definition of what exactly these two sides promised by this unusual and surprising cooperation. The next chapter is concerned with the main theme of this work which is an analysis of the effects and impacts of the opposition agreement. The consequences associated with the Czech political system are analysed at first. The greatest emphasis is placed on the consequences of the new electoral law and its comparison with the original electoral law. The next is the analyse of the transformation and development of the Czech party system during the term of the opposition agreement. I've used Sartori's typology of party systems for this analysis. In addition there are mentioned and discussed also other consequences that are linked to the opposition agreement and that in some way related to political and public affairs....
Media reflection of partisan leader and its influence upon electoral success of the party in parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic
Vocel, Jan ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
The key research question for my bachelor thesis deals with the problem of how great is the media image influence of the leader of a political party on the success in the elections. I will try to answer this question in the case of Jiri Paroubek, who was the leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2006. I decided to verify these theories, that explain the issue of leader and election campaign personalization. Then I carried out my research on two of the most famous newspapers on the right and left of the political spectrum: finding out how positive or negative was before the election the media image of Jiri Paroubek and Czech Social Democratic Party in these two newspapers. The research results are then compared with the pre-election opinion polls and election results and verified, if the media image of Jiri Paroubek was really different from his political party and whether it had an impact on the electoral success. It could help verify the validity of several theories, that leadership attributes of the leader have the great influence on the success of his party.

Political parties, their organizational framework and functioning
Ryjáčková, Lenka ; Buben, Radek (advisor) ; Koubek, Jiří (referee)
This master's thesis Political Parties, their Organizational Framework and Functioning deals with the political party organization, especially with their organizational framework and functioning. The observation of the party classification models has shown that models do not reflect party framework and functioning in a sufficient way. Therefore, the aim of the thesis is to define the important phenomena which enable us to study the organization and functioning of political parties and to reflect their inner party dynamic. The considered variables are the power structure, the organizational framework, membership and the hierarchy of members, the role of factions and bureaucracy. The theoretical conclusions are used in the case study which deals with the party organization of the Czech Social Democratic Party.
Intra-party democracy - the comparation of The Civil Democratic Party and The Czech Social Democratic Party
Müllerová, Miroslava ; Vymětal, Petr (advisor) ; Prorok, Vladimír (referee)
Political parties are an integral part of the modern democracy. However, people hardly ever have an idea about the internal mechanisms within them. The goal of this work is the evaluation of an intra-party democracy of the two biggest Czech parties -- the Civil Democratic Party and the Czech Social Democratic Party. This work is divided into two chapters. The first chapter deals with the political parties themselves -- the definition of basic terms, functions and role of the political parties, typology of political parties and also the issue of the intra-party democracy. In the second chapter the parties are briefly introduced. Next subchapters analyse aspects according to which the levels of the intra-party democracy can be meassured. After this, the comparation of both parties is made. In the conclusion all the results are summarized and evaluated.
