Product placement in Czech television production during 2019-2021

The thesis is devoted to product placement as a marketing tool and its execution in Czech TV production between 2019 and 2021. Firstly, it pays attention to the evolution of its definition and descibes the history of product placement both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The thesis also presents typologies and the key trends related to this advertising technique. The positive and negative effects of product placement for both TV producers and advertisers are involved as well. The theoretical part deals with the problematic aspects of product placement and its perception by audience. The research part uses content quantitative analysis to process data from selected Czech TV production including series and shows produced by ČT1, TV Nova and TV Prima. The analysis focuses on different types of product placement, camera shot, the relevance and recognizability rate as well as brand categories. It is also devoted to highlight potentional differences between series and other shows, specific characteristics of certain TV channels, audiovisual works or differences between the channel. The research revealed the fact that active visual product placement with dominanant camera shot focused on category of food and services prevail.

A Comparative Analysis of Foreign News in the Main News Sessions of TV Stations ČT 1, Nova and Prima in 2010

Diploma thesis "A Comparative Analysis of Foreign News in the Main News Sessions of TV Stations ČT1, TV Nova and Prima TV in 2010" studies the way of producing foreign news by Czech TV stations in the year 2010. Also, it focuses on the question which countries were mentioned. The introductory part discusses the Czech and foreign literature and offers the overview of TV news production, international flow of communication and factors which influences the production of foreign news. It also introduces the main news sessions Události, Televizní noviny and Zprávy TV Prima. The analysis of foreign news service is divided into two parts, first inquires into differences in used types of reports, their representation in the main news sessions, the topical structure and other characteristics connected with the production of news. Then, the second part concentrates on the states which were mentioned in the foreign news and focuses on the impacts influencing the production of foreign news by the Czech TV stations. For both parts of the analysis methods of quantitative research were used. The thesis also studies the differences between the main news sessions of private TV channels TV Nova and Prima TV and ČT1 which offer public service broadcasting. A method of programming the TV channel ČT1 in connection with its focus groups

This thesis deals with programming of the TV channel ČT1 in connection with its audience. The first part of this thesis is a theoretical explanation of the television programming. It clarifies reasons and methods of the channel structure, then it introduces the research of viewer ratings. It concerns the techniques of the television programming whose goal is to gain sufficient ratings of the stated programme. However, it also determines the Czech Television as a public broadcaster with respect to the Czech law. It tries to explain how this fact affects programming of the Czech Television's channels. The second part of this thesis consists of practical research of programme ČT1. It analyses four weeks in 2015, it clarifies their main features. It takes knowledge from three interviews with the key operatives who are responsible for the programming at the Czech Television. It also devotes to the fact how the target audience forms placing of programmes sociologically. It is known that the association of human life with television broadcasting is necessary and strong. Besides, it identifies the channel ČT1 as it is, it compares its target audience with other channels of Czech television. Gatekeeping in the news ČT1 a TV Nova

Bachelor thesis Gatekeeping in the news ČT1 and TV Nova is focused on gatekeeping process in the most watched commercial television and the most watched public television. Gatekeeping is the process within which gatekeepers decide what information will not be processed as a news and, vice versa, what information will be processed and will become a news to be broadcasted in television. This process is controlled by gatekeepers on whom the decision-making processes depend. One chapter of the thesis deals with the history of researches focused on gatekeeping process and one chapter deals with the most comprehensive gatekeeping research carried out by Pamela Shoemaker. Other chapters address information sources in the Czech Republic, news values and researches focused on determination who are persons speaking in news. The practical part of the bachelor thesis is based on detailed interviews with individual gatekeepers in the ČT1 and TV Nova newsrooms. It is the aim of the bachelor thesis to map functioning of decision-making processes (who determines themes of news, who decides on replacement of a news by another one) in ČT1 and TV Nova newscast. Representation of the Korean Peninsula in the news of Czech Television in years 2015-2020

The diploma thesis introduces the media image of Korean Peninsula within the news of Czech Television from 2015 to 2020. Korean Peninsula is an incredibly interesting area in terms of history, politics, economics, culture and international relations, including relations between the two Koreas and the Czech Republic. Czech Television was chosen to depict the two state units existing on the Korean Peninsula, which should - due to its specific position as a public service medium - provide viewers objective and impartial news. The theoretical part introduces the basic concepts and theories, focusing on the media public service broadcasting, media construction of reality, gatekeeping and agenda-setting. Considerable attention is also given to Czech Television itself and the Korean Peninsula, where among the other things, the key historical moments of this region are briefly explained and the media environment of both Koreas is overviewed closely. In the practical part, the collected data is analyzed, both quantitative and qualitative methods. Within the content analysis, the data are sorted by frequency, order, topic or tone of the content.
