Main content of the study was reconstruction of the former Zlín county court building and finding a new function for the object that is situated near Zlín castle, Míru square and Svobody park. Basic idea of the project was to utilize as large part of the prime building as is possible, avoid increasing of the built-up area and design a context-friendly object that will bring some new life in this part of the town. Important was also underlining of the most impressive parts of the building that are baroque vaults in the ground floor and frontage from 1922 in the “Czech Modernism” style. Worrisome extension from the 1990’s got a lighter “Czech Modernism” expression, its scale was humanized using brickwork and a new terrace with a clear shot at the Zlín castle was created. The parterre is now friendlier and invites passers-by to visit the new micro-brewery. A literary café with a small gallery provides some cultural activities and also a bicycle rental is here to provide some physical activities too. Upper floors consist a pension and a hostel.

The building is designed to be constructed in the area of the Brno city centre, between two houses from the late 19th century. This site has been empty since the Second World War when the original buildings were destroyed by a bomb. In the amendment of a 3-storey building (2 floors, 1 underground parking). I tried to complete the street line as well as create an inviting space with an alternative scene. It has been achieved by using slats which fill the space while walking down the street, however see through glass panelling invites you in while looking at the house from the park across the road. The building is located in the city centre with the bus stop at the door. Therefore, the underground parking offers only few parking spots. The house is surrounded by two parks - one on the street level and one in the back, located on the hill, leading to the Špilberk castle. There is a bridge that connects the roof of the building to the hillside park. There is an amphitheatre designed at the rear of the building site, which can be used as an open-air cinema/theatre in summer. The first floor contains a bistro, an exhibition hall, dressing rooms, facilities for actors and both small and large hall. In the second floor you can find the same bistro, meeting room and art studios.

Franková, Tereza ; Kolouch, Jiří (referee) ; Hrabec, Josef (advisor)
The aim of the present thesis is to carry out an architectural study for the reconstruction of the chateau complex Zdounky, located near Kroměříž in Litenčiče Downs. The chateau complex covers the area of ca. 9 hectares and consists of a four-wing chateau, a Baroque granary, a new farm building with an old orchard, and a large landscape park in the English style with a number of small-scale buildings such as a greenhouse, an ice house and other valuable and remarkable natural sites, for instance an old lime tree alley or a restored animal park. The proposal complies with the intention of the current owners, i.e. to use the complex as a centre for environmental education of the youth and to make it available to the general public with an interest in nature and ecology. Therefore, the main goal of the study has been to find an optimal urban-architectural solution in order to preserve the historic value of the buildings and at the same time allow the possibility of using them for their new purposes. The concept of the reconstruction is influence by the correspondence of the surrounding landscape, the place’s history, the historic value of the individual buildings and the morphology of the terrain. The whole complex is organized in order to give the impression of unity where all the functions are connected in a logical way. It was the division of the complex into public, semi-public and private zones that represented the main guideline for the present plan. The design of the reconstructed chateau includes the semi-public and private zones - it comprises both the educational centre with accommodation as well as the owners’ residence surrounded by a private garden. The Baroque granary is reconstructed and used as a museum. Additionally, a new orangery is added and its facilities used for a cider house (in the form of a small café) where local production commodities are sold. Both of these are open to the general public as well as the chateau park. Furthermore, the design includes a trail around the chateau. For the purposes of the present thesis, it was necessary to find and redraw the old plans, verify and document their true condition and measure the Baroque granary, whose documentation was completely missing.
