Self-assessment at the Primary School focusing on integrated pupils

This thesis is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part defines the concept of self-assessment and focuses on the significance and forms of self-assessment, as well as the factors arising during implementation of self-assessment in education. This part also contains findings from specialized publications analysing the relationship between assessment and self-assessment directed towards individualisation (personalisation). The practical part of this thesis takes the form of pro-active research, the aim of which is to observe implementation of self- assessment by a specific pupil with a specific learning disability. It describes how to teach an integrated pupil to self-assess, confirms that the pupil is able to self-assess his work and describes the steps involved in the implementation. Diploma thesis named Skill of students primary school to set thein personal goals, maps and describes the components which affect child and how do they influence child's choice of his/hers personal goals. The specification of personal goals is one of the activities of cross- section subject personal and social education, which is set by educational program framework. Its scope requires to name particular activities and their praxis. The thesis id divided into theoretical and practical parts. Theoretical part covers elemental components for personal goals specification, which are divdided into internal and external. The thesis also describes the fundamental basics of personal and social education, its methods and forms. In the practical part there is a model lecture covering two lessons. The lecture is a form of action research, and every realization of the lecture is reflected in detail. The purpose of the lecture is to find out the major motives for personal goals specification and what forms of work to chose while facilitating the lecture. Development of self-assessment skills of pupils in 1st and 2nd year of primary school

This graduation thesis has a theoretical and an exploratory character. The theoretical part is focused on the knowledge in the field of school evaluation and self- assessment of pupils. It defines the basic concepts, types, forms and functions of evaluation and self-assessment. The main aim is to define ways and various strategies to develop self-assessment skills of children in the beginning of primary school. The research questions and methods of investigation are formulated in the theoretical part. It presents results of long-term research about development of self- assessment skills of children from the beginning of 1st grade to the end of the first half of 2nd grade. One of the most significant parts of the research is devoted to specific strategies of the teacher, which positively affect the development of self- assessment skills of pupils, as well as involving parents in this process during a common consultation of teacher, student and parent.

The present thesis focuses on assessment of pupils at primary school in relation to motivation for learning. The theoretical part describes kinds and forms of assessment and aspects influencing students' motivation. The practical part researches if a form of assessment influences student's motivation. Research results show that a student's motivation is determined by family influence and upbringing from which a student's attitude to education unreels. School assessment does not cause students any problems; it is important and desirable for them and their parents.
Program of Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT) in the approach to teaching beginning teachers in the primary school

Development of reading literacy in elementary school education (comparison between Norway and Czech Republic

The aim of the thesis is to compare current approaches to the development of reading skills at the primary school level in Czech Republic and Norway. In the thesis are staked out the terms of reading (čtenářství) and reading literacy. Further there is comparison of the PIRLS research results and marginally the PISA-reading literacy part results. The topic is implanted in the context of the school reform in Czech Republic and Norway. The thesis includes a brief characterization of Norwegian school system. The foundation of this thesis is that the current level of reading literacy in Norwegian schools is similar to the Czech ones. The thesis gives answers to questions: Which approaches uses the Norwegian and Czech school system to develop reading skills of the pupils. Do this approaches react on the reading skill's level of the pupils? Are these approaches functional? Is it possible to apply some of the Norwegian approaches in the Czech environment? There are used methods of analysis of the materials, observation and interviews in this work. The main conclusion of this thesis is that the biggest benefit of Norwegian school system is it's unity, orderliness and presence of vision which are the missing factors in Czech school system.
Communication between teacher and parents of his pupils

The thesis deals with the communication of class teacher with the parents in primary school. The current position of this topic within the Czech education system is examined. Educational programs and initiatives focusing on this area of teacher's work are studied. Specific forms of communication available to teachers are presented with their advantages and disadvantages. Four case studies and their final comparison examines teachers' approach to the selection of specific forms of communication and the formation of the overall structure of communication with parents. Case studies describe the forms of communication used by individual teachers. Sources of information about the possible forms of communication, as well as factors that influence the teachers are presented. Individual studies are evaluated in the context of the others and their common and different features are identified. The issue of training of future teachers in this area is discussed. Individual approach of teachers to this topic is observed.
Using new teaching methods and educational strategies to support reading and reading literacy at the primary school.

This thesis deals with the use of innovative teaching methods and instructional strategies to support and develop literacy at the first grade of primary school. The theoretical part describes the changes in education related to curricular reform, also the change the objectives and the content of education towards the formation and development of key competencies, to prepare students for real life. This paper introduces the concept of contemporary Czech language and literature, its inclusion in the National Curriculum for Basic Education. The theoretical part focuses on the concept of literacy, reading literacy defined criteria. It also discusses the methods of critical thinking, which contribute to the development of reading skills. It also describes the course "Promoting literacy", which the author of the thesis completed in 2011. Research section presents action research, where the author verifies the theoretical knowledge of new specific methods and instructional strategies to promote literacy in practice. Research validates the effectiveness of innovative methods in terms of the development of key competencies for learning in terms of reading literacy criteria. Usage of portfolios in drama classes

I divided my thesis "The usage of portfolios in drama classes " into two parts. The first part of my thesis is theoretical and it deals with different types of portfolios and rates the usage of them in different drama classes. I tried to see the portfolios from the user's point of view. The whole collection of portfolios is a valuable tool that reflects the personality and social development of my students. It allows the observation of a student's attitude and value development. The list of methods and techniques can be found in my thesis, and can be used to plan lessons with the planned portfolio's output. The second part of my thesis shows illustrations of practical drama class lessons and the worksheets that can be used as a basis for future portfolios. The lesson samples contain methods, and information about the realization and reflection of the lessons as well. My thesis contains samples from the children enriched with worksheet evaluations.
