The Conception of Virginity in Greek Culture

Maidenhood is an interesting topic in the context of ancient Greek mythology and ritual. Despite the fact that women had a marginal position within the Greek polis, they were important in myth and ritual. Maidens in particular played an interesting part in Greek myth and ritual, mainly because they were in a transitional state between childhood and womanhood. Myths and rituals concerning maidens involve the goddesses Artemis and Hera, who help them with this transition. At the same time, this transitional state of maidenhood helped the girls learn to be women. Maidenhood transformed them from "wild" children into women ready to accept their roles as mothers and wives. One of the key questions that I would like to answer is how Greeks defined the concept of maidenhood. The maidens in myth and ritual that I'm concerned with are for example Pythia, Pandora, Atalanta or the Danaides. But who was a maiden? Why was she such an important figure in myth and ritual? To find an answer to this question I have turned to ancient Greek texts concerning the anatomy and health of women, and ancient Greek mythology and rituals have helped me interpret them. In the context of Greek thought, maidens were self-consistent in a way. They were pure, untouched and that is where their power came from.

Use of adventurously oriented games in the teaching of physical education in the gym at the second grade of elementary school

This diploma thesis deals with the use of adventurously oriented games in teaching of physical education in the gym at the second grade of elementary school. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is devoted to the child's personality in middle school age in terms of physical, motoric, mental and psychomotor. It also describes psychomotorics, psychomotor game, adventure education, adventurously oriented games, tools and utensils and motivation. In the practical part I examined the use of adventurously oriented games in physical education through the questionnaire and my own practice. The results have been recorded into graphs and tables. Each question was analyzed in the discussions, evaluated and I suggested possible solutions to identified problems. I replied at predetermined hypothesis and stated the results in the conclusion (see Chapter 3 of 5).

Differences in spending leisure time of children living in the country and in the town

1 Summary: At present our society faces the fact that children have been losing interest in activities that do not generate an immediate result and their free time is spent primarily passive. Overall values in society have changed. To obtain the various resources, experiences, property, we prefer the easier way to the effort and perseverance. Therefore we cannot value our own personality and know ourselves. Probably that is why current society is called consumer. This study consists of two parts - the theoretical and the empirical part. The study deals with the relation between physiological and psychological development of children, influence of environment and the use of free time. It detects options and ability of pubescent children living in the city and in the country to use leisure time offer. It also examines how much the place of living influences the way of spending their free time. The main objective is to find differences in the use of free time due to specific life in the city and in the country. Some problems in relation to the free time are also mentioned, e.g. specifics of life in the satellite towns, some sociopathological phenomena (crime, drug addiction or vandalism). Determination of Vuppor admixture for the refractory light weighting bodies

Lightweight refractory products are materials used for the construction of certain parts of industrial furnaces, especially for iron, but also in other sectors where is operated with high temperatures. There are special requests on refractories. The theoretical part contains an overview of used raw materials, production and properties of lightweight refractory products and description of not burnable lightener - chemical additives VUPPOR I and information about previously conducted trials dealing with these topics. The practical part is divided into four parts, which are evaluated by tests which were performed on a refractory clay with chemical additive Vuppor I (samples are lightened and not lightened) - it was primarily a test of sensitivity to drying, density, compressive strength, thermal insulating properties, etc.

Characterization of brick clays for the production of THERM bricks

The Bachelor´s thesis is focused on the comparison of brick claysthat arecalcium and non-calcium and then it determines which of these brick clays are suitable for production of thin wall thermal insulating fittings called THERM. The main influence has CaO contained in the calcium brick clay in the form of calcite. In the theoretical part you can find an overview of the brick clays in the Czech Republic and abroad then requirements for clays and laboratory testing of bricks. In the practical part of the work were performed tests on samples of brick clays used in the Czech Republic. Mineralogical composition differenceis obviousafter firing the brick clays.This difference is caused by occurrence of anorthite calcium brick clay which then reflects in the usefulproperty of brick shard. Based on these tests I make evaluationof the most suitable type of brick clay for processing the THERM fittings.
