Sperm and ejaculate traits and their association with male fertilization success in vertebrates with internal and external fertilization
Nesvedová, Anna ; Albrecht, Tomáš (advisor) ; Svobodová, Jana (referee)
Postcopulatory sexual selection, which encompasses sperm competition and cryptic female choice, has long been an understudied or neglected component of sexual selection. However, in sexually promiscuous organisms, it can play a crucial role in mate choice. Sperm competition exerts strong selective pressure on sperm phenotypes, yet detailed intraspecific studies investigating the relationship between sperm phenotype and male fertilization success remain relatively scarce. Furthermore, selection may operate differently in organisms with external fertilization (where the female's role in influencing sperm competition outcomes is limited) versus internal fertilization (where sperm competition occurs within the female reproductive tract, and cryptic female choice can also come into play), potentially favoring different sperm characteristics. This thesis, based on research synthesis, summarizes the knowledge about sperm traits that influence male fertilization success in promiscuous organisms, with a focus on differences in sperm trait selection in organisms with internal and external fertilization. To elucidate this issue, the thesis first provides a brief overview of the morphological diversity of vertebrate sperm. It explores sperm morphology and its relationship with male fertilization success, as...

Svobodová, Julie ; Laufková, Veronika (advisor) ; Novotná, Kateřina (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with fairy tales in relation to contemporary children of pre-school age and their knowledge and preferences of these fairy tales. My ambition is to point out what is the meaning and value of fairy tales for children as well as the importance and benefits of children's fairy tales knowledge and preference investigation. In my opinion, it is necessary to find out how children are currently doing in the field of fairy tales to let it contribute to their development. The theoretical section of this thesis is dedicated to characteristics of the preschool children in relation to the topic of this thesis as well as to the factors influencing children's reading which include family, kindergarten teachers, reading-stimulating environment and libraries. Also there is a part dedicated to literature characteristics for children as well as generations raising today's children and their relationship to children's literature. It can also affect children's relationship to literature. The next important area in the section is the fairy tale itself, its characteristics, types and fairy tale characters as well as the role of the fairy tale in kindergarten and what interaction options it brings. The aim of the practical part was to identify what fairy tales chosen group of preschool...

Truth, untruth and lies in Czech media discourse: Fact-checking methods applied on the website Demagog.cz during the 2018 presidential campaign
Poulová, Kristýna ; Kaderka, Petr (advisor) ; Macek, Jakub (referee) ; Svobodová, Jindřiška (referee)
The focus of this dissertation is on the description of the fact-checking process and methods as implemented on the Demagog.cz portal during the 2018 presidential campaign. Its objective is to evaluate the limits, benefits and specific forms of fact-checking within the context of the Czech Republic because the portal is the only Czech project exclusively focused on this activity. The research used the methods of ethnomethodologically informed ethnography that allows to study fact-checking in the environment where it is commonly done and to base the research findings on interpretations made by the portal members themselves. Video recordings of the coordinator's computer screen taken during the described activity were also used as research data. In order to clarify those parts of the process that could not be directly observed, the potential of metapragmatic awareness was harnessed by posing additional questions to the coordinator, studying his comments on individual statements and recordings of the communications among project experts that took place in the portal's administrative system. The fact-checking procedure was demonstrated with examples of both published and unpublished statements. Research has shown that the limits of the fact-checking activities on Demagog.cz reflect the limits of...
The phenomenon of the Franciscan monastery in the medieval society.
Svobodová, Jana ; Bláhová, Marie (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Petr (referee) ; Blechová, Lenka (referee)
The dissertation presents an edition of the medieval Latin chronicle of Eberhard Ablauff de Rheno. It is a previously unprocessed source. The chronicle is part of the Cheb Codex from the provenance of the Franciscans of the Bohemian-Moravian-Silesian vicariate. Today it is stored in the National Library. The Ablauff Chronicle records events concerning the Franciscans from 1451 to 1528, when Ablauff probably died. The chronicle is set in the broader context of late medieval Franciscan historiography produced in the Central European geographical area. The dissertation includes a codicological and paleographical analysis of the chronicle. On the basis of the editorially accessible text of the Ablauff Chronicle, it has been possible to discuss in a separate chapter the figure of the chronicler Eberhard Ablauff de Rheno, whose life can be imagined from inscriptions in his copied and written texts or from notes in the books he read. The edition of the Chronicle is supplemented by an overview of the Franciscan friars mentioned in the so-called Registrum fratrum. The edited chronicle can serve as a basic source for the religious and ecclesiastical history of our territory. Ablauff captured the continuity of the development of the Bohemian-Moravian-Silesian vicariate, where provincial chapters were...

Possibilities to monitor the effect of increased consumption of vegetables and omega-3 fatty acid food sources to the level of dairy oxidants and omega-3 fatty acids in the blood plasma of consumers.
SVOBODOVÁ, Jana
The aim of the work is to obtain specific data on the consumption of food sources of omega-3 fatty acids and food antioxidants in pupils from 6-15 years of primary school fed in a selected school canteen. In this respect, an analysis of the food consumed in the school canteen was therefore performed, from data reported monthly by the canteen in so-called consumer baskets. In addition, monitoring was performed on the effect of a defined supplement with omega-3 fatty acids at the level of their levels in blood plasma and blood cells. Furthermore, monitoring was performed by gas chromatography. The obtained results were processed tabularly, graphically and evaluated with the help of statistical methods.
