Alternative lifestyles: homelessness vs. squatting

This thesis deals with two alternative lifestyles: homelessness and squatting. Its ambition is to describe these lifestyles, define them and make the reader familiar with the way of life of homeless and squatters. After comes the comparison, analyzing the similarities and differences. The thesis not only describes these lifestyles but also provides the reader with an insight into the terms lifestyle and alternative lifestyle. For both, homelessness and squatting, home is an important issue. For the homeless it's the absence, for the squatters the effort to create a new one. This is why the term is also being dealt with. For better understanding and insight into the matter several interviews with people familiar with homeless and squatters were included into the thesis.
Common attributes and specifics of urban development in GDR and the territory of the Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis is to draw a comparison between urban development in East Germany and in the Czech Republic. While the main stress is put on characterization of the situation in East Germany, the objective of the description of Czech situation is to provide information and overview essential for comparison with the situation in GDR. Description of situation in both countries after World War II is given as a starting point, followed by detailed depiction of the socialistic era, and short characterization of urban development in 90s is given as well. The thesis is focused on overall urban development aspects such as style, form, and quality of housing, housing policies, migration, and expansion of cities. Specific factors, which influenced the urbanization in the past, and continue to have certain impact, are taken into account. Within context of social, cultural, economical, and demographical conditions, some common features may in social and spatial structure of the towns be found, but there are differences in both countries, too. The rural and the urban: mapping the dynamics

The thesis deals with the problematic of socio-cultural differences between the rural and urban dwellers. According to sociological tradition, three approaches are presented: (1) the idea of dichotomy, i.e. the existence of substantial difference between the rural and the urban; (2) the concept of rural-urban continuum and (3) the idea of convergence, i.e. the disappearance of above mentioned differences. These approaches have been confronted with historical and regional context of the Czech Republic and also with the results of a questionnaire survey "Actor 2005" that are representative for the population of the Czech Republic. Having do ne this, the author concludes that the Czech Republic has reached the point typical for advanced capitalist countries where the socio-cultural differences between the rural and urban have been gradually disappearing.
On the question of concept of civilizations in the work of Jaroslav Krejčí

The purpose of this theoretical bachelor thesis is to consider the concept of civilization in the work of Jaroslav Krejci. The work deals with the authors who have influenced Krejci's thoughts particular attention is paid to the British historian Arnold Toynbee. At the end of the thesis is Krejci's work put into the context of civilizational discourse. The work is based on the comparative method.
Russians in Karlovy Vary from its inhabitants' point of view

The thesis is a case study of Russian presence in Karlovy Vary from its inhabitants' point of view. This presence is described from the standpoint of the inhabitants' perception and their attitudes towards the Russians. Causes of Russians' coming to Karlovy Vary are also inquired and consequences of the Russian presence are reflected too. The causes are sought in the town history, especially in context of new colonization of border region after 1945. Present time is described in terms of statistical data regarding especially migration and a count of foreginers. The consequences of the Russian presence are found in changes in spatial zoning of the town and relation between of the Russian presence and local identity of local inhabitants. Interpretation of nine qualitative interviews is the source of evidence for this.
The development of the sociological leisure research from the 60th of the 20th century up to the present in the Czech society

This work describes the development of the leisure research in the Czech society and compendium of the significant publications about this theme. The fundamental part is preceded by the summary of the progress of the human-being relation to the time category, including leisure, and short note about time sociology. It is followed by the list of the famous world literature about this time dimension. Next chapter is dedicated to theoretical resource of the research. The chapter focused on the Czech research, begins by the description of methodological issues of the research and by the description of the factors influencing on the leisure (home facilities, working hours…). The description of the research is divided into two main complexes according the time of origin - first part dwell with the time from the 60th to 80th, second part from 90th up to now. In the conclusion is the summary of the findings and the recommendations to the leisure research.
Urban tourism and its social and economic aspects

This thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical one and a research one. The theoretical one deals with selected issues of modem mass tourism with emphasize on urban tourism and its social and economic aspects. The selected issues are city marketing, congress tourism, security in tourism, forms of tourism with increased social risk and sustainable tourism. The research part is based on interviews with tourism experts from municipal authorities of Prague and Hradec Kralove. The objective of the interviews was to demarcate the major features of the municipal authorities' tourism policy with emphasize on the aforementioned theoretical issues and to compare the policies ofthe two cities.
Conscience of the ecological crisis and its reflection in lifestyle

In this paper author makes an attempt to describe the development of the man - nature relationship in the Western thought and also the reflections of this problem, using the "domination of man over nature" metaphor. He concludes the problem of "culture versus nature" duality on the example of philosophical and historical research on the cultural basis of ecological crisis. He follows describing the birth of early conservationist movement (H. Thoreau, J. Muir), ecological ethic (A. Schweitzer) and transformation of this concepts into various fields: ecofeminism, social ecology (M. Bookchin) and deep ecology (A. Naess). Author reflects the position of environmental issues in the academic discussion as well as the incorporation of the ecological concepts into sociological theory (environmental sociology). In the final part of the paper the issue of individual life-style reflection of the environmental problems is opened, using the conception of "voluntary simplicity" (D. Elgin) or "postmaterial values" (R. Inglehart). The paper is finished with critical views on the "voluntary simplicity" phenomenon, the issue of "privatization of the ecological crisis" and commercionalization of the ecological lifestyle.
Financial analysis of Sberbank CZ, Inc.

The main objective of this master thesis is to develop a financial analysis of banking institution Sberbank CZ, Inc., to evaluate the overall effectiveness of its activities and to compare its situation with competing banks. The master thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part focuses on description of methodological and theoretical findings, which are connected with financial analysis. Attention is paid not only to financial analysis and financial indicators, but the author of the thesis also deals with information resources, information duties of banks, financial statements and regulations of the Czech National Bank. The second part is devoted to introduction of chosen banks and description of their main features. The third part focuses on application of reached findings and creating financial analysis of Sberbank CZ, Inc.. Results will be continuously evaluated and also measured with competing banks. In conclusion are presented reached results of financial analysis, on which is evaluated whole financial situation of Sberbank CZ, Inc..
Surveying measurement for the photomap of the frontage building.

This work has been aimed at establishing a geodetic base for photo plans of building site objects or scenes and the application to ``Photogrammetry`` studies. It will be used in teaching of Land Adjustment and Real Trade Estate study programme at the Department of Land Adjustment, Faculty of Agriculture, the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The work should result in establishing the geodetic base of a building frontage using terrestrial and GPS methods.
