Selected analysis of the EU development assistance

Including its member states is the EU the largest provider of development assistance in the world. This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of the EU development policy. The goal of this thesis is to evaluate effectiveness of the EU development assistance in selected countries on the basis of selected indicators. The counties are Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Peru and Ukaine. Evaluation of effectiveness was based on the outputs of the sectors in selected countries that were financially supported by the EU. According to these data, there was at least partial improvement in each of the selected countries. The EU development assistance in these countries was therefore identified as effective.
Factors Affecting the Balance of Payments in Selected Latin American Countries

The bachelor thesis focuses on factors affecting the balances of payments of the biggest Latin American economies. The research factors are liberalism, regionalism, monetary and fiscal policies, hot money and both monetary and economic crises. The emphasis is put on balances of payments of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. The examined period of time ranges to the end of 80s in the last century. The first part of the paper defines the balance of payments and the factors affecting it in the case of Latin America. The second part applies theoretical hypothesis of the factors on real development of the balance of payments structure.
The problem of poverty in African countries

The aim of this thesis is to draw attention to the issue of poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. The first part focuses on the definition of poverty and indicators for its measurement. It also outlines the causes which lead to poverty. The second part defines the main problems related to the existence of underdevelopment in African countries. It includes mainly a lack of access to basic needs, incorrect way of managing water resources and the problem of food waste. Last part concentrates on some of the tools which could lead to eradication of poverty. The attention is devoted to the Millennium Development Goals, humanitarian and international organizations and the concept of Fair trade. The bachelor's thesis draws upon Czech, mostly foreign books and Internet resources, particularly the annual reports, statistics and databases of international institutions.
Analysis of the BRICS Cultural Aspects: Perspectives and Barriers to the Mutual Integration

The content of the bachelor's thesis is the identification of common and also different cultural aspects of the BRICS countries and appraisal of their influence on mutual cooperation. In order to do so, Hofstede's system of cultural values is used. Initially, all features of the cultural dimensions are described and then applied to the particular observed countries. Also other non-cultural features (economic) are included in the country comparison. Finally, the main common goals of the BRICS countries are described primarily according to the outputs (declarations) from their common summits and the efforts to get involved in the global affairs.
The position of Maghreb countries in the world economy

The main goal of the bachelor thesis is to analyze history, development and current situation of regional integration in Africa. It also puts emphasis on the Arab Maghreb Union. The first chapter provides reader with information about regionalism in global context. It describes its evolution and defines so called "new regionalism". The second chapter is concerned with history and actual situation on the field of African regionalism and focuses on most important integration groups functioning in Africa. The third chapter depicts The Arab Maghreb Union as the main regional integration group in Northern Africa with close relationship with the EU.
Millennium Development Goals fulfilment in Zambia

This bachelor thesis focuses on analysis of progress made in fulfilment of Millennium Development Goals in Zambia. The first chapter describes how the agenda of Millennium Development Goals was created and summarizes the progress made in fulfilment of the goals worldwide. The second chapter sets Zambia into the international economics, characterizes Zambia from both economic and demographic points of view and defines main Zambia's problems. The third chapter analyzes the progress made in fulfilment of Millennium Development Goals in Zambia and focuses especially on health-related goals.
Vznik nadnárodných spoločností vo vybraných rozvojových krajinách a ich postavenie vo svete

The primary focus of this bachelor's thesis is a new phenomenon of multinational and transnational corporations being established on developing and emerging markets. The market of People's Republic of China has been chosen to demonstrate this phenomenon on local multinationals with a special focus on on their rapid internationalization process and key factors of success. In order to arrive there we use the classic internationalization theories, which were established during the second half of 20th century, meaning that the majority of internationalizing companies were from developed markets. The first chapter contemplates the general characteristics of multinational companies and the way they expand according to classic theories of internationalization. The second chapter is focused on developing countries and their enforcing role on the global investment markets. It also includes the modified theories of internationalization, which were established as a consequence of empowering role of companies from developing markets. The third chapter is an analysis of rapid internationalization process of Chinese multinationals, it uncovers the conditions under whom the companies were expanding to foreign markets and the main motives of their actions. The chapter also includes a case study of Chinese home appliance company Haier and is terminated by drawing possible future development of Chinese multinationals.
Strengths of Vietnamese economy

Political and economic reforms (Doi Moi) launched in 1986 have transformed Vietnam from one of the poorest countries in the world to a lower middle income country within a quarter of a century. Country has achieved such success thanks to its geographic, strategic, and demographic advantages. The work will examine the effectiveness of advantageus economic sectors of the country to respond how much effective these streghts are for the country in today's global economy during which the work will focus its attention to the main drive motor of the economy, the Vietnamese human resources. The shortcomings of the Vietnamese labour force and the need for reforms in education and training systems to achieve greater economic efficency will be analyzed afterwards. In conclusion, it should noted that foreign direct investment flows to all major sectors of the economy and play a key role in the development of technological level of the country. Vietnamese workforce lacks technical expertise in the health service, counstruction industry, transport and logistics and the chemical industry. Therefore it is neccessary that the local firms and educational institutions work closely together and define curricula and training programs for employees to achieve a better quality of Vietnamese workforce.
Humanitarian and development aid of the EU in Africa

This bachelor thesis deals with progress of development and humanitarian aid of the European Union, particularly in Africa, and with its current condition. The aim of this thesis is to describe what motivates EU to provide the aid, how it is funded, what the results are and where improvement is necessary. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes the aid from a general point of view. The second chapter deals with the development aid of the EU, its evolution and tells us how it works. The third chapter focuses on the motives of aid, and on specific study cases of development and humanitarian aid in Africa.
The Importance and Impacts of Trade in Palm Oil and Its Derivatives on the Indonesian Economy

This thesis examines the impacts of oil palm cultivation and palm oil trade on the economy of Indonesia, the largest producer and exporter of palm oil in the world. The reader will be familiar with the current economic situation in Indonesia, trade with palm oil and its economic, social and environmental impacts on Indonesia. In conclusion, the author offers an overview of possible solutions to the negative impacts through certification of palm oil e.g. by organization Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.
