Cílem bakalářské práce je upozornit na problematiku chudoby v subsaharské Africe. První část je zaměřena na definici chudoby a ukazatele sloužící k jejímu měření. Zároveň jsou nastíněny příčiny, které vedou k chudobě. V druhé části jsou vymezeny hlavní problémy související s existencí zaostalosti v afrických zemích. Zahrnují především nedostatečný přístup k základním potřebám, nepromyšlené plánování hospodaření s vodními zdroji a problém plýtvání potravinami. Poslední kapitola se zaměřuje na některé nástroje, které by mohly vést k vymýcení chudoby. Pozornost je věnována Rozvojovým cílům tisíciletí, humanitárním a mezinárodním organizacím a konceptu Fair trade. Bakalářská práce čerpá z českých, převážně zahraničních knižních a internetových zdrojů, zejména pak z výročních zpráv, statistik a databází mezinárodních institucí. The aim of this thesis is to draw attention to the issue of poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. The first part focuses on the definition of poverty and indicators for its measurement. It also outlines the causes which lead to poverty. The second part defines the main problems related to the existence of underdevelopment in African countries. It includes mainly a lack of access to basic needs, incorrect way of managing water resources and the problem of food waste. Last part concentrates on some of the tools which could lead to eradication of poverty. The attention is devoted to the Millennium Development Goals, humanitarian and international organizations and the concept of Fair trade. The bachelor's thesis draws upon Czech, mostly foreign books and Internet resources, particularly the annual reports, statistics and databases of international institutions.
