The Rediscovery of Symbol in Louis-Marie Chauvet
Bauerová, Kateřina ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee) ; Hušek, Vít (referee)
The main aim of my dissertation is to introduce, analyse, and critically evaluate the notion of symbol of a contemporary French sacramental theologian Louis-Marie Chauvet. He has significantly influenced the Western, especially Roman Catholic scene, but he is almost unknown in the Czech milieu. Chauvet's rehabilitation of a symbolic view of reality brings a possibility to speak about God's presence in a non- ideological way. He also brings a positive evaluation of body and corporality back into theology. In the first part of my work I map out the resources from which Chauvet draws in his notion of symbol. In particular I deal with Heidegger's early philosophy but also with Chauvet's use of psychoanalysis and his critical evaluation of older Thomist sacramental theology. The second part of my work is devoted to Chauvet's own notion of symbol. On the basis of his central works I analyse three topics linked with his approach to symbol: being, language and corporality. In the last part I critically appraise Chauvet's notion especially with respect to his use of Lacan's psychoanalytical theory. For some open questions that come out of this I look for alternatives in three French contemporary female authors. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

The Ecclesiological Opinions of Roger Haight S.J.
Kratochvíl, Lukáš ; Jandejsek, Petr (referee) ; Noble, Ivana (advisor)
Americký jezuita Roger Haight dokončil v roce 2008 třetí svazek svého díla o eklesiologii pod názvem Christian Community in History. V prvních dvou svazcích věnovaných historické a komparativní eklesiologii se Haight snaží najít souvislosti a změny v dějinách společnosti a v dějinách církve. Haightův závěrečný díl Christian Community in History je konstruktivní eklesiologií. Spolu s jeho předchozímu publikacemi Jesus Symbol of God a Dynamics of Theology pak představují pokus zůstat věrný apoštolské víře v dialogu s dnešním světem. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Possibilities and limits of a human knowledge of God and of speech about God in Ludwig Wittgenstein
Kopačková, Lucie ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Kranát, Jan (referee)
This bachelor work analyses possibilities and limits of a human knowledge of God and of speech about God in Ludwig Wittgenstein. Wittgenstein as a key to teological language, is dealing with life and philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein. The theme of language is introduced in the perspective of Wittgenstein ́s early and later philosophy. It examines how he developed this theme in his first philosophical work Tractatus Logico Philosophicus and what kind of changes his later work published as Philosophical Investigations brought. The first biographical offers a reading of Wittgenstein ́s life in different periods, which had had the basic influence to his philosophical work. Subhead about his relationship to Christianity and the relogion as such concludes this part. The second part dealing with philosophical work about language is divided into two subheads. First introduces how Wittgenstein worked with the topic of language at the begining of his philosophical work. Then the second is about the move in his whole work and personal attitude which is characteristic for his later work. Short theological ecumenical eccursus concludes the second part and shows in which realms Wittgenstein transceds the limits of philosophy. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

"Is it Rational to Believe in God?". Epistemology, Metaphysics and Method in the Works of Bernard Lonergan
Nevrkla, Svatopluk ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Kranát, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate interrelatedness between various concepts of God and metaphysical assumptions from which they have been derived. This will be done with special attention paid to philosophical work of Bernard Lonergan. On Lonergan's case I will show his solution of problematic presuppositions of scholastic understanding of God. In introduction I will summarize reasons that made me to choose this topic, goals of the thesis and methods I will use. First chapter will be dedicated to brief introduction of selected proofs of God's existence and their metaphysical premises on which they rest. Enlightenment critique of metaphysics will be described and its consequences for metaphysical proofs demonstrated. Second chapter will introduce context and goals of works of modern Canadian Jesuit theologian Bernard Joseph Francis Lonergan and his concepts of judgement and selfXaffirmation. Third chapter will be concerned with description of Lonergan's metaphysics and finally with some criticism of Lonergan's approach from perspective of postXmodern, hermeneutic, and linguistic philosophies. In conclusion I will confront Lonergan's results with older philosophies mentioned. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Bártová, Darina ; Filipi, Pavel (advisor) ; Noble, Ivana (referee)
The work deals with spiritual guidance.Concept of spiritual gudiance and related concepts is defined first. Next the spiritual accompaniment is defined against the sacrament of reconciliation on the one hand and to psychological counseling on the other. The paper tries to show that the concept of spiritual accompaniment is rooted in the tradition of Christian spirituality. It is possible to interpret some biblical stories from this perspective. But some personalities of the history of spirituality also contributed to the current conception of spiritual accompainment. Own capter is dedicated to them. The following is a more detailed analysis of the content and typical forms of spiritual guidance, requirements for accompanying and specifics of various categories of accompanied. Some pathological phenomena in the context of spiritual accompaniment appear are mentioned also. The results of field research in selected communities of different denominations are a separate part of the work. They have demonstrated wheather the concept of spiritual accompaniment is known and wheather it is used and by whom. An important question is also characteristic of the typical accompanying. The research results are summarized in the conclusion and in the annexes. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The World as "The First Sacrament". Concept of the World in the Liturgical Theology of Alexander Schmemann
Macháčková, Ivana ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
Alexander Schmemann, one of the greatest orthodox theologians of the twentieth century, understands world in his liturgical theology as a gift of God ́s love to man. Man was created as a priest of creation and he should accept creation as a gift and bring it in thanksgiving back to God. But man diverted from God, he lives in a self-centred way and he separated divine and profane. Salvation is seen by Schmemann in Jesus Christ, who renewed relation of man to God, renewed the continuity between the world and himself. The central place in Schmemann ́s liturgical theology has liturgy. The eucharist is described by Schmemann as the entrance of the Church into the joy of her Lord. It has cosmic, all- embracing character and it transforms everything. This liturgy takes place in separation from the world, but for the world. In the offering we bring to God the whole world and it becomes in the liturgy what it always should have been, but was not. The Church is the gift of reconciliation and forgiveness. She represents the whole creation before God. Schmemann strongly emphasises the role of community. He criticises attempts of unity from "below" and he also does not accept the activities of the Church in the social and political sphere. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Active and Passive Freedom in the Works of Pelagius and Augustine
Outrata, Filip ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Karfíková, Lenka (referee)
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
