Multifunctional agriculture in Czechia after accesion to the European Union: conceptualisation, development and regional differentiation

8 Abstract The dissertation deals with the concepts of multifunctional agriculture in the context of transformations of Czech agriculture in the post-communist era. In general, the study mainly wanted to discuss the concepts of multifunctional agriculture, known for over three decades, especially from the Anglo-Saxon environment, and to analyse the development of Czech agriculture as well as application of multifunctional agriculture especially in the period after Czechia's joining the European Union, including the perception of multifunctional activities by farmers. The initial part of the study discusses the concepts of multifunctional agriculture as non- commodity production (OECD 2001) and an integral part of rural development (Van der Ploeg, Roep 2003) on the one hand and of agricultural multifunctionality (Wilson 2007), on the other. The empirical part of the work was based on a quantitative assessment of regional differentiation of multifunctional agriculture in Czechia, the territorial concentration of multifunctional activities and dependence between the variables that influence its implementation. The Act on Educational Staff: an exploratory survey in the district of Zábřeh.

My thesis is divided into two parts where the notional part presents the targets and methodology, describes the locality of the research, the system of education and the legislation. The applied part is based on the qualitative research carried out with four randomly chosen headmasters of the educational institutions in Zábřeh, representing different types and stages of the educational system. Based on the results of my research, the target of my thesis is to describe the impact of the amendment of the Act No.563/2004 on Educational Staff and the impact of modification of some related acts on the teaching stuffs of all kinds of educational facilities in the town, and at the same time to present the process of dealing with these legislative changes by the headmasters as the managers of the schools. By interviewing the headmasters I should find the answer to the question if their analysed responses conform the idea of an ideal manager (according to Jan Hron) who needs to have not only knowledge an competence to be a successful manager, but also authority and will. The results of the research should also confirm or refute the idea that in connection with the legislative changes many insufficiently qualified teachers were dismissed to be replaced by new employees. Therefore, I am comparing the results of my survey with the accessible data from the local employment agency. Although it is hard to generalize the data from the qualitative survey and a relatively small number of respondents, this thesis should bring a new insight into the whole issue in the town of fourteen thousand inhabitants.

Company Communication Mix

This bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of communication mix in the company DS. Hrabal, s.r.o. which is engaged in the production and the sale of confectionery. The work includes the theoretical part where there are several terms concerning marketing analysed, the sekond part deals with the introduction of company and the execution of the analyses and the third part introduces some further suggestions for solutions which will lead to the improvement of the marketing communication of the company.

Salmonella infection in poultry and the national eradication programme

The topic of the thesis is the incidence of salmonella infections in poultry and National Recovery Programs that were established in the Czech Republic on the 1stofJanuary 2007 under the European legislation, specifically by Regulation (EC) No 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council from the 17th of November 2003 about the reduction of Salmonella bacteria and other agents of zoonosis in the food chain. Currently five recovery programs oriented on the reduction of Salmonella are taking place in the Czech Republic. The basis of the programs is monitoring of Salmonella incidence in breeding via taking of samples. These programs were established in order to reduce the amount of cases of human Salmonella deseases because the poultry products are the most common source of the human infections. The programs could be considered effective. For this effectiveness is important to respect the principles of correct hygiene practices.

The utilization of the Amalgerol product on the sheep thick bedding

Utilization of biotechnological agents for reduction ammonia emission in agriculture is one of the ways how to lower emissions of greenhouse gases and ammonia gas and simultaneously construct better living environment for stabled animals. Experiment acknowledged its positive influence to decrease of ammonia emissions. During the first three applications occurred significant decrease, in average by 40 % in comparison with the values from the previous week. The second week of application occured the decrease also significantly by 23 % and the third week is the difference smaller probably due to the already advanced micro-life supported by the regular spray irrigation. These lowered values are maintained during the following weeks with only low bidirectional deviations of 10 %. Average reduction of the ammonium emissions in the observed years was 50, 89 % on the sheep thick bedding. By the horses bedding was the reduction of ammonium emissions by 41,84 % in the first day and 28,74 % in the second day. The sheep bedding was the subject of decomposition during the observed period, while the horses bedding was replaced as a whole at longest in 5 days. The bedding had significantly better consistency and was evenly and better decomposed after the application of the product. There were noticed lower emissions of the odoriferous gases during the clearing of the bedding in the stable. The influence of the product on the improvement of the sheep toes health was also confirmed as well as its deodorant effects. The sheep toes diseases were eradicated to the level of 77, 5 % of healthy animals. Due to the lowered frequency of disease occurrence were lowered the costs for medication by 46 %. Regarding these results it is possible to state, that applications the Amalgerol product leads to the improvement of the living environment of the bred animals and herewith the positive influence on the breed economy.
