Options of Approach to Teaching of Morphology of Leaf at Lower Secondary School
Němečková, Linda ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
1 ABSTRACT The thesis deals with the options of approach to teaching leaf morphology at lower secondary schools from both theoretical and emprical point of view. The empirical part is then verified on-site within the teaching process. The theoretical part is dedicated to the topic of leaf and particular aspects of the teaching process. The empirical part at first attempts to conduct a survey of the methods and organization forms of teaching applied at particular lower secondary schools within the teaching of leaf morfology. Afterwards, it analyses selected textbooks used for teaching biology. Next part describes suggested methods and organization forms of teaching applied less frequently during the education. The second goal of the thesis is to put in practice the methods and organization forms of teaching within an educational experiment. Afterwards, a didactic test is used at representative schools to verify the efficiency. At the end of the thesis, the results of the following are presented: the observation of teaching leaf morphology, the analysis of the biology textbooks content, and the didactic test. The results of the didactic test demonstrate the extent to which the skills and knowledge of the students are effected by the methods and organization forms of teaching applied within the educational...

Teaching Biology at Grammar School using CLIL Method
Junášek, Milan ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
The subject of this thesis is using CLIL in practice at upper secondary school. The introductory part introduces CLIL generally, it speculates over the meaning, opportunities and difficulties of using it at Czech schools. The practical part contains four units: Taxonomy, Geology, Animals and Genetics, which help teachers link biology with English language using CLIL. The materials benefit from the author's experience with teaching both English language and biology at upper secondary school as well as previous experience with creating teaching materials. The main aim of this thesis is to verify these materials are usable in real educational process and to let students evaluate how well the lessons went through a questionnaire. The verification has proven the materials are usable and students find them beneficial.

Deciduous Trees in the Teaching of Botany at Primary School
Turynová, Kateřina ; Skýbová, Jana (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on deciduous trees in the teaching of botany at primary school. In the introduction, deciduous trees and their position in curricular documents are characterized. Theoretical-research work further describes selected forms and methods of teaching used in the teaching of deciduous trees, which were found by own observations during practice or by qualitative research by survey conducted in this work. On this basis, a semi-structured interview with three selected science teachers was created. The aim of the survey was to map and compare the teaching of deciduous trees and the collected data, but especially the opinions and attitudes of individual teachers. Of course, each teacher is an individual and the data obtained cannot be perceived as globally valid for all teachers. Only a more in-depth and wider examination would make demonstrating survey results more accurately possible. The aim of the work also was to analyse selected textbooks of science at the 2nd stage of elementary school in terms of the representation of deciduous trees, which are also used by the interviewed teachers. In the practical part, based on the data obtained from the interview, practical activities for teaching of deciduous trees were proposed. The last part of the work consisted of creating a...
The Teacher through Eyes of the Public
Koutníková, Šárka ; Hlaváčová, Lucie (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
The diploma thesis "The Teacher through the eyes of the public" is focused on analyzing public opinions and attitudes towards the teacher personality. In further detail, it is focused on a teacher of the sciences, specifically science lessons and biology, and its educated subject. The diploma thesis is divided to two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the relation between the school and society, defines the term Teacher, and maps the teacher career with problems they can meet with during their career. Teachers of natural science/biology are described in their dedicated chapter, where the teachers themselves and their achieved educational background and selected teaching elements are analyzed. The practical part provides a questionnaire survey by method of quantitative research with a total of 144 responders. The collected data is presented in columnar graphs together with its word characterization. A Z-Score test was used in an attempt to prove the hypothesis. The first part of the survey is focused on teacher personalities. The results show that the responders perceive teacher personality as very positive and that professional experience is definitely preferred within the subject. In the second part, the results introduce that the addressed public recognize teaching...
Analysis of biology lessons focused on the professional vision a reflection of future teachers
Němečková, Linda ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Škoda, Jiří (referee) ; Čížková, Věra (referee)
Pedagogical practice is a substantial component in the education of future teachers, because during it, the specific knowledge that is important for the performance of the teaching profession are developed. This dissertation thesis is dedicated to professional vision and the ability to reflect by future biology teachers during their pedagogical practice. The thesis specifically deals with the analysis of individual reflections of students and observation interviews. The research is conducted using several studies. The first study was performed with the analysis of 130 written reflections taken before and also after individual watching video recordings of 65 students' own lessons. For the analysis of written reflections, the categorical system submitted by Sherin and van Es (2008) was used. For students doing their first practice at lower secondary school, a statistically significant shift across a wide range of professional vision categories was detected after watching a recording of their own lessons. This was unlike the students doing their second practice at upper secondary schools. Further analysis was carried out, and was aimed at deeper research into the nature of the evaluative statements. The analysis was conducted by 10 future teachers of biology and 40 written reflections were reviewed....
Methods and Concepts of Teaching Geology at the Selected Primary Schools at the Ústí nad Labem Region

The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the pedagogical terminology, concepts of the teaching, discusses special aspects of the teacher personality and specifics of geology as a scientific field of the subject in the education system. The research part is dealt with the description of the questionnaire and its evaluation, further it summarizes and discusses the results of the questionnaire survey among 202 students and 21 teachers from 10 elementary schools in the Ústí nad Labem Region. The questionnaire survey shows that teachers and students consider geology an important subject in terms of general education and possible use in practical life. It has also found that students do not take in geology as an interesting subject, but thanks to the creative teaching approach and using of variable methods by their teachers the geology has become acceptable for them. The teacher's personality and his/her creative teaching approach and methods are...
