"Soviet Union - our example!": The influence of Soviet construction novels on the shaping of the basic motives in the Czech construction novels.

Master thesis Soviet union, our model deals with comparison of Soviet and Czech construct novels and focuses on basic motifs in selected novels. For analysis we choose couples of novels to focuse on sphere of ideologically significant aspects in each novels. Its a factory in novels Cement and Cesta otevřená, formation of "new world" in wasteland in novels Dravá řeka and Modré údolí and motivic structure positive hero in novels Daleko od Moskvy a Luisiana se probouzí. Based on text analysis and interpretation this work specifies existing knowledges about influence of Soviet construct novels on formation and development of this genre in Czechoslovakia. 1 SUMMARY The present thesis deals with cultural and cultural-political journals published between May 1945 and February 1948, as well as polemics that went on during that period. The thesis consists of two interconnected parts - the journals' profiles and the literary-historical introduction that analyzes certain important issues and problems in regard to the journals and selected personalities, placing them in the contemporary social context.
Literar-critical work of Jan Lopatka in the context of his personal library

The thesis highlights the literary-critical work of Jan Lopatka in the context of his personal library. It is a literary-historical and critical description of his work by characterizing and defining thematic blocks, which Lopatka systematically pursued in his personal library. It centers on a comparison of the significance of his work and pinpoints defined blocks in Lopatka's library fund and their significance in his literary criticism. Based on a complete inventory of his personal library (prepared by the author of this thesis) and its knowledge, research characterizes his work mainly from this perspective. Attention will also be paid to manuscripts, typescripts and notes in his books.
Michael Kácha and Czech Literature

This thesis presents the personality of Michael Kácha, anarchist editor and publisher. Biographical sketch shows not only his editorial activity and journalism (for instance in journals Práce, Zádruha, Mladý průkopník, Klíčení) and his work as a publisher (Družstvo Kniha, Kacha Verlag), but pays attention also to his activities within workers' and anarchist, respectively anarcho-communist organizations, which is inextricably connected with his literary activity. A bibliography of texts of Michael Kácha and a list of books published with his participation is the part of this thesis.
Feminism and Literary Criticism in Pavla Moudrá's Journalism

The thesis concentrates on the literary and feminist articles of Pavla Moudrá, which she published in the journals Ženská revue, Ženské listy, Ženský obzor and Ženský svět. An important part of the diploma is a complete bibliography of her texts issued in these periodicals. The analysis concentrates then mainly on articles connected to literature and "the woman question". It describes the author's opinions in their relationship with the peace movement, animal welfare, the anti-alcoholic movement and spiritualism. In all of these areas, she was involved as a promoter of spiritual values, leading to the spiritual revival of mankind, and for this purpose she also subordinated her journalism. She tried to thematise particular social problems, indicative of the decline of human morality, as well as writing more general texts, more metaphorical and strongly inspired by the theosophical movement. It influenced the way she perceived literature: she valued mainly the author's intention, which should be able to offer a positive example for the reader. She considered a poet, meaning a writer and an artist in general, to be a creature standing close to God and having the ability to see more than the average person. The reception of Jan Pelc's novel ... a bude hůř during various political regimes

In the content of this bachelor thesis is ecamining the reception of Jan Pelc's novel …a bude hůř by Czech readers during various political regimes. In case of pre-revolutionary acceptance, there are evaluated reactions of readers in exile and in the independent domestic structures. The analysis of arguments for such acceptance are mentioned. Folkloristic studies by František Bartoš and children's literature

The main focus of this bachelor thesis are folkloristic studies by František Bartoš and his significant contribution especially to the field of pedagogy, ethnography and gathering and publishing of folk songs. Bartoš's collections of children's folk texts Naše děti and Kytice will be analysed in greater detail. The thesis will examine these books with regard to the author's approach to juvenile literature and his requirements on the form of the texts designed for children.

Thesis is focused on research into cultural institution. It is not only theoretical; it takes an interest in concrete institution, the former SNKLHU publishing company, in certain historical period of the years 1953-1960. It is based on research into the rules established by the policy of the Communist Party to control economy and society. It points out how one of the most important cultural institutions of the second half of the last century in Czechoslovakia under these rules implemented the job of publishing books. How this institution fulfilled tasks resulting form the cultural politics motivated by the communist ideology and subordinated its management and editorial policy to it.
The fea tures of dandysm in work of Jiří Karásek

This dissertation, whose title is The features of dandyism in work of Jiří Karásek, focuses on the concept of dandyism in the literary work of Jiri Karasek ze Lvovic. The term dandyism is connected throughout this study to several main points, which are outlined in the first part of the dissertation with respect to the specific character of Karasek's dandyism. The aim of this study is to refer to the circumstances surrounding the arrival of this worldwide phenomenon to the Czech cultural environment and the origins of Karasek's inspiration. The central part of this dissertation consists of the analysis of specific aspects of Karasek's work from the point of view of dandyism with special attention being paid to the influence of decadence. Heroines and Gabriela Preissová. Female characters in Czech realistic drama.

Abstraction The aim of this thesis is to collect materials which are related to the plays of Gabriela Preissová. That is to gather in particular contemporary reviews dealing with the way that female characters were treated in the writer's tragedies. Due to these resources the circumstances of the composition of these plays and the historical responses are then outlined in the individual parts of the thesis. Further, various female characters and the main issues contained in the plays, are being analyzed. The main purpose of this work is to describe and define the female character in the plays of Gabriela Preissová. Key words: drama, realism, Gabriela Preissová, heroine.
