Music Communication, Projection and Analogy of Handicapped Children in Music Therapy
Lipský, Matěj ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Mastnak, Wolfgang (referee) ; Weber, Jana (referee)
/Abstract Music Communication, Projection and Analogy of Handicapped Children in Music Therapy Presented work takes an interest in music contents produced by handicapped children attending music therapy sessions. The contents of music were gained from the children by the method of improvisation, particularly by "concert technique". In the theoretical part we present philosophical background for the music therapy in a field of special education and research. This background thought we have found in a gnoseology of a critical realism and a radical constructivism. Afterwards the definition and description of used music therapy terminology follows. We present three music therapy models that put great emphasis on the contents of music produced by clients. These models are: the German Morphological music therapy, the Dutch Analogical Music Therapy and the Geneape music therapy model from the Czech Republic. We also discuss general possibilities of using music therapy while working with mentally handicapped clients, autistic clients and clients suffering from sight defects, because these kinds of handicaps are included in our research group. At the end of the theoretical part we explain the terms of music communication, projection and music analogy. They are always connected to the contents of music, as...

Gerlichová, Markéta ; Hájková, Vanda (advisor) ; Šiška, Jan (referee) ; Mastnak, Wolfgang (referee)
The thesis focuses on examining the effect of music therapy on the perception of quality of life in patients after acquired brain damage and strokes within the complex neurorehabilitation process. The results of combined research are presented. The quantitative part of the study is based on a group of 100 people who attended a day care centre at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of the 1st Faculty of Medicine at Charles University and the General Teaching Hospital in Prague from 2006 to 2012. Input and output measu- rements according to the FIM methodology were carried out with these persons and the data were statistically analyzed in relation to other evaluated parameters. The qualitative part of the study processes the results of semitemplated interviews with 15 people (who also participated in the quantitative study) while the perception of music therapy is evaluated by a procedure inspired by grounded theory. The results of the combined research show that music therapy plays an important role in the rehabilitation process for persons with acquired brain injury (ABI). The results of the quantitative part prove the positive effects of music therapy in im- proving movement, communication and self-sufficiency - especially depending on the number of the music therapy sessions attended. A major...

Weber, Jana ; Herden, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Slavík, Jan (referee) ; Mastnak, Wolfgang (referee)
Music plays an important role in our lives. Especially during puberty, music is an important part of an adolescent's influence which supports the development of identity. In today's world, music is disappearing from interpersonal relationships. School is often the last place where young people can learn about themselves and the world around them through music. Looking at music education from this perspective, teaching music could be instrumental in developping soft skills. Unfortunately music education is often given only marginal consideration on the education plan in Czech secondary schools. As a consequence neither school management nor pupils understand its significance and music classes become a gathering of people with no interest. In many schools music education loses its meaning and its potential is wasted. Based on ideas of music therapy and artefiletic, the aim of this work is to find possible ways to encourage the interest of adolescents in this field again. One option is to motivate students to link school life with their life outside of school. They can learn through their own experiences in creative activities and discussions. This work is heuristically oriented, i.e. we do not seek answers, but rather consider the issues and come up with new ideas for future work. Our goal is to offer music...
