Measurement errors in market and social research

The text being offered is methodological micro-tribute to the theory of market reserarch, sociological surveys and opinion polling. It analyses results of already evaluated empirical examinations about the nature of interviewing and measurement error streaming from this source. The results are discussed and completed by authors empirical experience gained in full service market research agency on both domestic and international projects. We are able to measure sampling error or, as some researchers say, errors of non-observation, but we have serious doubts about measurement and prevention of those arising in the datacollection phase. Those errors negatively affect the quality of survey results. Whether it is respondents reactions, interviewer tactics or non-respose phenomena, we are not able to foresay its volume and direction in advance. Partially, bacause those effects are interreacting. Results of sociological survey are uneasy to be generalised because of impossibility to compare data collected in diferent cultural, historical and political surroundings. The text aims to define survey quality rather in a way what it is not. Working Conditions of Ukrainians in the Czech Republic and the Situation in Ukraine

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou mezinárodní migrace, pracovními podmínkami Ukrajinců v ČR a situací na Ukrajině. Rozebrala jsem ekonomické, kulturní, populační i sociální důsledky, které tento společenský jev přináší. Zmiňuji hlavní tendence migračních pohybů z pohledu geografického, globalizace a transformace států. Dále též historii Ukrajiny a jejich neustálé problémy s migrací. S tím souvisejí ekonomické podmínky. V dnešní době jde nejčastěji o migraci pracovní. V každém státě - jak v ČR, tak na Ukrajině se snaží na tyto problémy reagovat a přizpůsobují legislativu. Ukrajinská krize od roku 2013 důsledku migrace příliš nepomohla. Občané strádají a snaží se najít optimální řešení pro svůj život. Práce se zabývá teoretickým i praktickým šetřením životních podmínek, které jsou Ukrajincům u nás poskytovány. Zjišťuje, zda byly ovlivněny tradice, zvyky či náboženství. The link between work conditions and subjective health in the Czech Republic

The relationship between health and working conditions represents an important topic of sociologic research. Still, in the Czech context this theme has not been sufficiently dealt with. This work's aim is to contribute to the research in the branch, to offer a detail study of the relationship between subjective health and working conditions. Firstly, the theoretical part of the text offers definitions of the concepts subjective health and working conditions. Secondly, there are defined three hypotheses about the relationship between the categories subjective health and working conditions. Then, the hypotheses are tested using contingency tables and regression analysis. Afterwards, there is offered a comparison between the study's conclusions and outputs of similar foreign works. The results of the analysis correspond with those reached in foreign context - in comparison with unemployed, economically active people feel them healthier. Using the regression model, significant influence of education on this relationship was proved. Other testing brought a conclusion that people working in difficult conditions evaluate their health worse than people who do not have to cope with hard working conditions. Work motivation

Práce l spolu s rodinou představuje pro člověka jednu ze základních životních hodnot. V práci tráví člověk velkou část svého času a kromě toho, že mu poskytuje hmotné prostředky nutné pro obživu, je i základem jeho sociální identity. Zatímco pro člověka je důležité, aby práce uspokojovala jeho aktuální potřeby, pro zaměstnavatele je naopak důležité, aby člověk odváděl co nejlepší výkon, protože výkon jednotlivců se pak promítá do celkového výkonu organizace. Z tohoto pohledu je třeba zaměstnance k lepšímu výkonu podněcovat, motivovat. Z hlediska organizace je tedy motivace pracovníků považována za důležitou součást práce s lidmi, neboť se odráží ve výsledcích činnosti. Motivace jednotlivce se projevuje například v jeho vztahu k práci, v pracovní ochotě. Nemotivovaní pracovníci nebudou efektivně využívat pracovní dobu, nebudou se na práci dostatečně soustředit a jejich výkon bude celkově nižší ve smyslu kvality i kvantity. Nedostatečná motivace jednotlivců může také narušit pozitivní sociální klima organizace a tím ovlivnit i motivaci ostatních zaměstnanců. The question of the effectiveness of public service

V předkládané diplomové práci se budeme zabývat problematikou efektivnosti veřejné služby. Fenomén veřejné služby a její výkon patří k aktuálním tématům společenských věd a společnosti jako celku. Zájem o veřejnou službu je spojen s úlohou moderního státu v dnešní společnosti. Současné hodnocení státu vychází z jeho převažující tendence k nedostatečné reflexi dané společenské situace a požadavků dnešních občanů. Je proto patrná snaha přizpůsobit státní správu a samosprávu aktuálním společenským podmínkám a najít nové nástroje zvyšování efektivnosti veřejné služby. Sociologický pohled a teorie řízení řeší tuto otázku z hlediska svých teorií a přístupů k byrokratickým organizacím. Jednotlivé práce se liší v teoretickém přístupu i ve volbě jednotlivých zkoumaných znaků. Zhruba od počátku dvacátého století je patrný zájem o zdokonalení byrokratických organizací, ten je však také spojen s úsilím mnoha společenských vědců demonstrovat jejich nedokonalost. V dnešním společenském diskursu se objevuje debata o tom, zda silné ekonomické, sociální a technologické změny zapříčinily, že tradiční výkon veřejné služby je nedostačující. Sociologie organizace a řízení přispěla svými teoriemi ke zkoumání efektivnosti veřejné služby.

Activation Programs for Children and Youth as Prevention of Social Exclusion

This bachelor's thesis focuses on work with children and youth who come from a socially disadvantaged and culturally diverse environment within the scope of their leisure time with regards to their future employment within a society. Primarily, the thesis discusses a positive influence on socialization of children and youth by activation programs in the context of low-threshold-organized streetwork and social work. I am interested in this kind of problematics and I have been working as a volunteer in this social field. I draw on my personal experience, which is connected to a concrete locality. I build my bachelor's thesis on my personal conviction that activation programs aiming on target group of children and youth in the context of low-threshold-organized street work and social work might play a crucial role in prevention of social exclusion. Economic analysis of methamphetamine market in the CR

This diploma thesis brings theory, current knowledge and empirical analysis. It focuses on the methamphetamine market in the Czech Republic. In its theoretical part it follows individual schools of Economics with focus on the differences in expected behavior of the participants in the illegal market. The research is primarily oriented on finding the effects of the enforced prohibition on users, producers and sellers of pervitin. The main benefit of the diploma is the definition of as yet not published specifics about not only the whole segment, but also the comparison of characteristics of both an open and closed pervitin scene, where surprisingly there exists not only a difference in the quality of the product but also in the approach of sellers to customers. From a comparison with the heroin market one can see a trend of mutual exchanges of pervetin for heroin and also differences in competitive environments. The result of the economic analysis is the filling of gaps in the current understanding and elicitation of conclusions, which are compared to the economical studies and official overviews of the Czech drugs market.

Czechoslovak political and economic transformation in view of institutional economics theories

The diploma thesis looks into the matter of political and economic transformation of Czechoslovakia and Czech Republic through lenses of institutional economics theories. It claims that the transformation measures did not consider the social embeddedness within cultural and historical limitations. The first part of the paper defines the methodology of institutional economics based mainly on Ronald Coase's and Oliver Williamson's work. The following part aims to draw an image of historical and political context of Czechoslovak transformation. The compatibility of conditions, goals and means of the transformation is being considered in the third part. Finally, the work structures and evaluates World Bank's data set that forms an important part of endogenous influences of institutionalisation. The conclusion judges the outcome of political and economical transformation rather critically.

Bakalářská práce vymezuje obsah pojmu outsourcing, popisuje příčiny jeho vzniku, stejně jako jeho společenské a ekonomické dopady. Práce vychází z teorií strategického managementu a ekonomické analýzy nových druhů mezinárodního obchodu a zabývá se zkoumáním outsourcingu jako metody, která na jednu stranu pomáhá vytvářet konkurenční výhodu využitím akumulace kapitálu a specializace a z druhé strany jako fenoménu, který propojuje světové trhy snahou o co nejefektivnější alokaci výrobních faktorů.
