Development of overdetermination in Freud's theories
Zítko, Tomáš ; Fulka, Josef (advisor) ; Kuchař, Jakub (referee)
The thesis traces the development of the concept of overdetermination in Freud's thought. In his writings we can trace the shift from the implicitly formed idea of determinate memories, through the introduction of the concept of overdetermination, to the clear establishment of its place in relation to other concepts in his theory. The thesis thus attempts to capture the term in its full meaning in relation to the actual theories that were developing in the period and attempts to capture the term in its full, and if possible, exhaustive meaning.
Personality characteristics of men and their partner preferences
Mašková, Monika ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Kuchař, Jakub (referee)
Dating is becoming a dominant of the online world, but there is still the question of what determines mate preference and choice. This thesis examines the personality characteristics of men in the context of mate preferences. The aim of this thesis is to examine the relationship between men's personality characteristics and their preferences for an ideal partner. The thesis asks whether personality characteristics influence partner preference in ideal female partners or whether the personality level is negligible. The theoretical part presents the most important approaches to mate preference and mate choice. The theoretical part mostly supports the homogamy theory. The quantitative research examines men aged 20-35 using the NEO Personality Inventory and the Ideal Partner Scale. The research was done by an online questionnaire (N = 95) and five hypotheses were tested using statistical analysis. Statistical analysis of the data revealed that a man's personality characteristics has an influence on his mate preferences, but not as great as we would have thought. A statistically significant result was confirmed for hypothesis H1: Men with a higher Agreeableness factor in NEO will significantly more prefer partners with a higher Warmth factor. H2: Men with a lower factor of Openness to Experience in NEO,...
Nightmares in university students and their connection with creativity and quality of sleep
Matějková, Eliška ; Manková, Denisa (advisor) ; Kuchař, Jakub (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with nightmares and their connection to creativity and quality of sleep. Current findings about nightmares, quality of sleep in university students, creativity, and the connection between nightmares and sleep quality and between nightmares and creativity are summarized here. This pilot study yielded data on the prevalence of nightmares and quality of sleep in a population of university students. The prevalence of frequent nightmares (at least one nightmare a week) was 27,9 %, and the prevalence of poor sleep quality was 88,4 %. Furthermore, the relationships between nightmares and sleep quality and nightmares and creativity were examined. Nightmare frequency was positively correlated with sleep quality. No correlation was found between nightmare frequency and domain-specific creativity and nightmare distress and domain-specific creativity. Considering the high prevalence of frequent nightmares and poor sleep quality and the positive correlation found between nightmare frequency and sleep quality, I believe it would be appropriate to pursue this topic further. Although no correlation was found in this study between nightmare frequency and creativity, foreign research indicates some evidence for this relationship. Further research could work with a sample of participants...
Suicidal behavior as a result of failure of defence mechanisms in psychoanalytic therapy
Sákrová, Anna ; Jakubů, Jiří (advisor) ; Kuchař, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to map and examine the individual defense mechanisms of the ego, owing to the failure of which suicide occurred in clients in psychoanalytically focused therapy. The theoretical part of the work is focused on defense mechanisms which, in the psychoanalytical concept, are understood as unconsciously applied mechanisms that support a sense of self-worth and integrity, or are used in situations of failure, shame and failure. These defenses differ in their nature and strength, to which the literary overview section is devoted. The research part is qualitatively focused on analytically oriented therapists who met a suicidal client in their professional practice. Using semi-structured interviews, which allow the coverage of as many factors as possible, it is investigated which defense mechanisms failed and subsequently led to either suicidal attempts or to completed suicide in clients. In this part, the results of the phenomenological analysis of the views of individual psychoanalysts on the issue of suicidal behaviour will be interpreted. The results of the research will be helpful to psychoanalytically oriented therapist in better recognition of risky behaviour which could result in a client's suicide. Based on the experience of the therapists, their starting points...
Assessment of pressure conditions in the water supply network of the municipality of Ústí
Kuchař, Jakub ; Rajnochová, Markéta (referee) ; Ručka, Jan (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis is devoted to the hydraulic analysis of the water supply network of the municipalities of Ústí, Skalička and the settlement of Kamenec. The village is located in the Přerov district. The first chapter describes the theory of mathematical modeling and the basic relationships for calculation in pressure pipe systems. A quasi-dynamic hydraulic model of the entire area was created from the measured pressure values of the water supply network. The assessed values were displayed in the EPANET 2.2 simulation program. With regard to the character of the development in the municipalities, the pressure conditions in the area were assessed using the result. The last part of the work is dedicated to proposing measures to optimize pressure conditions and the resulting impact on the territory.
The meaning of life in the context of internet addiciton
Blažková, Nikola ; Loneková, Katarína (advisor) ; Kuchař, Jakub (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to investigate the relationship between life meaningfulness and internet addiction. In the theoretical part the thesis deals with the psychological view of the meaning of life, presents important theories, selected correlates and methods of its measurement. The possibilities of facilitating posttraumatic growth in therapy
Zůnová, Anna ; Loneková, Katarína (advisor) ; Kuchař, Jakub (referee)
(in English): This thesis explores the possibilities of facilitating post-traumatic growth in the context of individual psychotherapy. The theoretical part summarizes the state of current knowledge on post-traumatic growth. In order to take a more comprehensive view, post-traumatic growth is situated within the broader framework of the trauma therapy process. The theoretical part is concluded with an introduction to the possibilities of facilitating post-traumatic growth. The empirical part deals with the experiences of practicing psychotherapists with post- traumatic growth within their individual practice. The qualitative research focuses on what therapists consider to be the goals of trauma therapy, how therapists conceptualize post- traumatic growth, in what areas and forms they encounter it in their clients, and how they believe they can influence it. Data are collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with nine psychotherapists and further analyzed using a thematic analysis method. Data analysis led to the discovery of sixteen major themes that relate to the therapist's way of thinking about and dealing with post-traumatic growth during psychotherapy sessions.
The influence of friends on mate choice and romantic relationship
Rasochová, Aneta ; Štěrbová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kuchař, Jakub (referee)
Mate choice is one of the most important choices in life, affecting satisfaction, health, and well- being of an individual. One of the specifics of human mate choice is the fact that aside from the individual, their relatives are frequently involved. But other close people can influence their relationship as well, for example friends. Our study's aim was to map the influence of friends on mate choice and subsequently on the quality and stability of the romantic relationship. We have conducted 20 semi-structured interviews with 10 men and 10 women in long-term romantic relationships. Using thematic analysis, we have found that while the individuals shared about their relationships more frequently with their friends rather than family, they assessed the importance of friends' and parents' opinion on average as comparable. The interviewees valued their family members' opinion more in matters of family, practical topics, and future plans. However, they preferred their friends' opinion in matters of relationship dynamics, problems in the relationship and emotional and sexual aspects of the relationship. Concerning differences between genders, we have found that men have shared about their romantic relationships significantly less with their family members but have shared about them more often with their...
Overdetermination in Psychoanalytic Case Studies
Kuchař, Jakub ; Fulka, Josef (advisor) ; Bžoch, Adam (referee) ; Jakubů, Jiří (referee)
In this work I deal with the question of whether the use of the concept of overdetermination is coherent across 1) psychoanalytic theoretical and case studies and 2) different psychoanalytic directions. Based on the analysis of the most cited case studies dealing with the topic of narcissism in the field of Kleinian and Relational psychoanalysis, I come to the conclusion that the use of the concept of overdetermination is not completely coherent in psychoanalysis. This incoherence may be due to the different attitudes of different authors to abstract metapsychological assumptions. Narcissism of small differences, which in my opinion is evident between representatives of different psychoanalytic directions, can also play a role. And last but not least, it is possible to look at this incoherence as the result of so-called implicit theories, i.e. not entirely official and conscious theories that psychoanalysts follow in the course of their practical clinical work. Keywords Psychoanalytic discourse, overdetermination, analysis of psychotherapeutic case reports, the relationship between theory and practice ;
Life meets Enemy: A conceptual inconsistency in understanding the political between Carl Schmitt and Giorgio Agamben
Kuchar, Jakub ; Franěk, Jakub (advisor) ; Salamon, Janusz (referee)
The thesis concerns itself with the discrepancy in the understanding of political and exception between Carl Schmitt and Giorgio Agamben. Interpretation of their selected works is accomplished through the employment of the hermeneutical method by Hans-Georg Gadamer, while the comparison is drawn along the lines of the comparative textual method by Kerry Walk. Thesis answers the question of posed conceptual discrepancy, as well as the question of validity of the use of the method of circular movement in the research of contemporary political science.
