Determination of mercury in selected fish species and in fish products
Kroupová, Kateřina ; Ing.Tomáš Gregor, Ph.D. (referee) ; Diviš, Pavel (advisor)
Theoretical part of the master thesis deals with the occurrence of different mercury species in the environment and describes analytical methods used for determination of mercury in biological samples. In practical part of the master thesis mercury concentration in 14 samples of selected fish and fish product was determined using single purpose absorption spectrometer AMA 254. Measured results were statistically processed and consulted with EU legislative norm.
Selected inorganic pollutants in foodstuffs
Kroupová, Kateřina ; Vítová, Eva (referee) ; Vitoulová, Eva (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focus on occurrence of inorganic pollutants in foodstuffs. The introduction is dedicated to apperance of individual selected elements in foodstuffs. Concentration of these elements is very important factor for examination of toxic effects for the human organism. If we want to avoid the harmful effects to the human organism, we have to define border limits. Work is based on the legislative of Czech republic. Second part of this study is focused on the biological monitoring. The biological monitoring is important for precautionary measures. In the third part of this study are described toxical effects of these elements to the human organism. Before qualitative and quantitative analysis by instrumental techniques is important to properly take the sample. In the fourth and fifth part of this work are mentioned methods used for determination of these elements and metods of taking samples. This bachelor thesis provide complex view on the problems of pollutants in foodstuffs and it should be used as a base for following diploma thesis.
Experience course for improvement in communication of youth with mentally handicapped
Kroupová, Kateřina ; Zemková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Šumníková, Pavlína (referee)
This bachelor thesis addresses the opportunities for social communication development for mental handicapped youths who use the personal assistance social service. The means used for communication development are practical experience courses. A questionnaire was sued for research purposes which proves that personal assistance is used by clients mainly in a school environment and for escorts. Despite this fact, demand for practical experience courses from assistants is considerable. Almost all of them consider them to be an opportunity for their client to get to know their client better, thereby improving the quality of the social service provided. Other research focused on comparison of individual plans for the users of the personal assistance social service. This research confirmed the importance of the work of personal assistants who have a demonstrable influence on the development of communication and socialisation of people with a mental handicap. Controlled interviews with clients demonstrated that the common intense experiences enjoyed during the practical experience course, converted into life experience, can have a positive influence on the relationship between the assistant and client. They then find it easier to achieve goals aimed at development of communication which make orientation in...
The Impact of Student Employment on Educational Outcomes: A Meta-Analysis
Kroupová, Kateřina ; Havránek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Schwarz, Jiří (referee)
Despite the extensive body of empirical research, the discussion on whether student employment impedes or improves educational outcomes has not been resolved. Using meta-analytic methods, we conduct a quantitative review of 861 effect estimates collected from 69 studies describing the relationship between student work experience and academic performance. After outlining the theo- retical mechanisms and methodological challenges of estimating the effect, we test whether publication bias permeates the literature concerning educational implications of student employment. We find that researchers report negative estimates more often than they should. However, this negative publication bias is not present in a subset of studies controlling for the endogeneity of student decision to take up employment. Furthermore, after correcting for the negative publication bias, we find that the student employment-education relationship is close to zero. Additionally, we examine heterogeneity of the estimates using Bayesian Model Averaging. Our analysis suggests that employment intensity and controlling for student permanent characteristics are the most important factors in explaining the heterogeneity. In particular, working long hours re- sults in systematically more negative effect estimates than not working at...
