The report consists of four chapters. Chapter 1 assesses the historical performance of forecasts for Rwanda. Historical forecasts since January 2010 are compared with the actual data as well as with projections of other institutions. Chapter 2 presents the structural macroeconomic model, its changes compared to the December 2009 version, and its properties captured by impulse-response functions and by variance decompositions of model’s variables in terms of the model shocks. Important is the part on the model-consistent interpretation of the recent economic Rwanda history. The section describing Bayesian vector autoregressions used for the near-term forecasting concludes. Chapter 3 evaluates how the models perform empirically. On the contrary to Chapter 1, the forecasting power is assessed both in the sample as well as by using an out-of-thesample comparison with the standard random-walk benchmark. We conclude that the FPAS performs satisfactorily in this comparison. The last chapter gives an overview of the considerable country database that has been compiled.

Human Capital and Investments in Health
Hrušková, Eva ; Chytil, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Katreniaková, Dagmara (referee)
The thesis deals with the influence of the human health as a part of the human capital on the economic growth. The term human capital and health is defined. The chosen economic models which involve them and illustrate their significance in context of the economic growth are presented. The central signification of the private investments in human health as a possible solution and support of the progressive economic growth is demonstrated on the example of current social and economic trend, the elongating lifespan, and the stagnant growth of the natality. The adverse demographic trend is specific not only for the Czech Republic but also for the other countries of the European Union. It begins to rise above like the significant limiting barrier for the further economic growth. Next, the health endowments are analysed as a natural component of the human capital and a prerequisite for an ensuring of the sustainable economic growth. From the above mentioned evolution the necessity of the health endowments is deduced. The quality of the population health becomes one of the preferences not only for the national governments of the European countries but also for the institutions of the European Union. The aim of this thesis is to quantify the influence of the private investments in human health on economic growth using the real data and the linear regression method.
Migration, crises and remittances
Vyhnalová, Kateřina ; Čermáková, Klára (advisor) ; Katreniaková, Dagmara (referee)
The aim of this thesis is found if there is a relationship between economic development of USA and the flow of remittance selected states. If remittance is influenced by economic development of USA, the flow of remittance will fall during financial. This hypothesis is supported by the fact that financial crisis influences more foreign workers than native workers. Rate of unemployment of immigrants is growing and because remittance probably will fall. The paper is underlaid by theories which explain origin and duration of imigration. Than I examine remittance and the impact of crisis on immigrants, the flow of immigrants and the flow of remittance. In the empirical part I choose states, on which I explore the relationship between the flow of remittance and economic development of USA.
The Fiscal Impact of changes in European Trading System with emission allowances in Czech Republic
Novotný, Jakub ; Bolcha, Peter (advisor) ; Katreniaková, Dagmara (referee)
In this paper the fiscal impact of changes in European trading system with emission in Czech Republic is estimated. The first part is focused on theoretical background. The changes are described from the perspective of different sectors and also from the general point of view. The biggest change is the allocation of emission allowances via auctions, that's why the first part of this paper is completed by the analysis of auctions that have already been on the market with emission allowances. Empirical key part of the paper is focused on the estimation of the future price of emission allowances. For the estimation of parameters of key price determinants I use the method of ordinary least squares. The parameters are refined by the ARCH model. With the estimated future price is the fiscal impact in Czech Republic estimated and interpreted in the last part of this paper.
