Hána, Petr ; Jirásková, Věra (referee) ; Havlůjová, Hana (referee)
1950s may be classified as one of the worst periods in Czechoslovakia's history. The totalitarian communist regime in the period between 1948 and 1953 is called the Stalinism. The primary objective hereof was to evaluate teaching about the Stalinism period in Czechoslovakia in secondary schools, in particular, to assess the scope of correctness and completeness of the related curriculum and teaching methods. The secondary objective hereof was to introduce and describe the Stalinism as a typical example of totalitarianism and to define crucial elements of this non-democratic form of government using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The thesis proceeds from the theoretical part via a case study to the practical part. The first part classifies totalitarianism, defines its historical outset and determines its main features. The second chapter describes and explains the Stalinism, which is a typical example of totalitarianism having functioned in practice in the Soviet Union from where it spread to the majority of the Communist countries, including Czechoslovakia. The third chapter explains the practical application of the Stalinism elements and methods used to control a society according to the Soviet model using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The practical part hereof focuses...

Fuchs, Jan ; Pavlíček, Václav (advisor) ; Jirásková, Věra (referee)
RIGOROUS THESIS - SUMMARY President of the Republic and his Relationship to the Executive Branch The thesis analyses the current constitutional legislation concerning the position of the President of the Republic pursuant to Constitutional Act No. 1/1993 Coll., the Constitution of the Czech Republic; special emphasis is placed on the aspects of the relationship of the President to the executive branch of power, particularly the Government as a whole and its Prime Minister. For better clarity and also to provide a theoretical basis, the author gives a brief overview of the constitutional development of parliamentary democracy in the United Kingdom, France and the U.S.A. insofar as this is, in the author's opinion, necessary for better understanding of the current regulation of the position of the President within the Czech Constitution. Since the author is well aware of the substantial effect of historical regulations on the wording of the current Constitution (not only in terms of the office of President of the Republic), he also deals in his thesis with the developments of constitutional law since 1918, when the Czechoslovak Republic was founded as an independent state. The thesis aims to analyse the office of President of the Republic, along with his position and relationship to other constitutional...

Fajfr, Marek ; Jirásková, Věra (advisor) ; Hogenová, Anna (referee) ; Demjančuk, Nikolaj (referee)
The thesis "Searching for today's education" deals with a dynamic relationship between contemporary postmodern society and school institution, which is the heritage of modern period. This relationship is conceived in two different ways: theoretically by the approach of postmodern philosophy (represented here by the interpretation of works by Jean-Francois Lyotard, Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida and Roland Barthes) and practically by the evaluation of high-school seminar Understanding contemporary situation that has been held for last year students of a grammar school in Prague. After the introduction and overview of past discussion on this topic the analysis of three basic values of modern school on the concept of indoctrination and neutrality were offered. Those values are education for the truth, education for the freedom and civic education. At the same time a certain tension between the truth and freedom on one hand and the civic education on the other hand occurs. In the next chapter I try to characterize contemporary society by plurality (de/legitimisation, fragmentarisation), relativising relationship to the reality (virtualisation, technologisation, medialisation), and problematising of the subject (problem of identity and marginalisation). In the main part of the thesis I interpret the...

Way of thinking by philosopher - dissident Bohumir Janat
Zemanová, Kristýna ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Jirásková, Věra (referee)
Dissertation "A thought journey of a philosopher-disident Bohumír Janát" deals with the life and work of a Christian philosopher and spokesman of Charter 77. The work is not divided into two parts, but each chapter includes both his personal and professional life as well as analysis of Janáts texts. The work begins with Janáts childhood and his studies at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague and continues with the period from graduation until the year 1989 when his texts already contain motifs he was developing for the rest of his life. Year 1988 was particularly important as at this time he was the spokesman for Charter 77. The third section is the period from 1989 to Janáts death in November 1998 when he produced most of his work. The work is especially pointing out that Bohumir Janát was always a critic of present, he ran against the spirit of the time - during and even after a totalitarian regime end in November 1989. He saw the coup as a revelation of God's power, not as a revolution. He hoped for a change in the mindset of the nation, for a turnover to the sphere of ethics and spiritual deepening. Post- revolutionary development, however, was a deep disappointment for him. His inspiring thinkers were S. Dunne, H. D. Thoreau, T. G. Masaryk and F. Nietzsche, whose philosophy...

State citizenship in adjudication
Vasilieva, Yanina ; Hřebejk, Jiří (advisor) ; Jirásková, Věra (referee)
The aim of this work is to describe and analyze the concept of the state citizenship in general and in the Czech Republic from a theoretical and practical point of view. At the theoretical level, this work explores the concept of state citizenship and the related terms such as nationality analyzed in the first chapter that has a broader conceptual content. Nationality is used as a benchmark concept to distinguish vertical and horizontal levels of state citizenship. At the vertical level, often referred to as functional citizenship, the focus is on the relationship between the state and its citizens. By contrast, the horizontal level concentrates on ties between citizens within a state that are based on solidarity and collective sense of belonging. This leads to the particular role of state citizenship that provides an individual with a set of privileges such as legally enshrined special treatment by the state. The second chapter of this work studies dual or multiple citizenship that are of particular interest especially given the current integrative and global trends that have gradually been changing our thinking about them. Conflict of faith commitments and indivisible state sovereignty have been sidelined in favour of the individual. The concept of dual citizenship is also relevant for homeless,...
