The Concept of Temporality in The Work of Ladislav Hejdánek
Starý, Ondřej ; Pelcová, Naděžda (advisor) ; Hejduk, Tomáš (referee) ; Rybák, David (referee)
This thesis is focused on the explanation and critical analysis of the concept of temporality in the work of Ladislav Hejdánek. The theme of temporality is a key motive for Hejdánek's thinking. The whole concept is characterized by a combination of philosophical and theological ideas that create a provocative attempt at a unique philosophical system. The meaning of the concept lies in the processual understanding of the subject as an event. Each subject has its own unique form of time, which is expressed by the connection of the object and "the non-objectivness" (in terms of time). According to Hejdánek, the emphasis on processuality and the temporal nature of the subject really captures the true essence of life and the world. Unlike purely objective thinking, which hypostasizes everything alive into timeless thought constructs. The first chapter of the dissertation is focused on summarizing and introducing the concept of the subject. A summary of the important features of the process understanding of the subject allows an explanation of the main topic. The second chapter focuses on the interpretation of temporality. The different perceptions of time are first explained by the dichotomy of myth and faith. This dichotomy then reveals the reasons for the need to replace the principle of causality....
The effect of latent toxoplasmosis on memory performance in infected persons
Hejduk, Tomáš ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Levčík, David (referee)
The relationship between latent toxoplasmosis and the memory processes has not been studied in detail. There is an assumption of a possible link between latent toxoplasmosis and memory, due to the generally weaker cognitive performance and worse prognosis of Toxoplasma-positive patients with schizophrenia. The aim of this study was to verify whether the latent toxoplasmosis along with Rh phenotype affects the memory of Toxoplasma-infected individuals. Visual-spatial working memory was tested by the Spatial Span test, Meili test and Virtual Four Goals Navigation task. These tests were performed on a group of 307 students of the Faculty of Science, Charles University. The results of these tests demonstrated the negative impact of latent toxoplasmosis on visual-spatial working memory. It was detected that Toxoplasma-positive men remember more subjects with aggressive themes, while Toxoplasma-positive women remember less subjects with aggressive themes. The findings could be related to the previously observed changes in the concentration of testosterone in infected men and women. The protective effect of Rh positivity was not confirmed, as in many sub-tests the worse memory performance was by Rh positive individuals with latent toxoplasmosis. Keywords: Latent toxoplasmosis, Rh factor, visual-spatial...
Enthusiasmos in thinking of ancient Greece
Fleischerová, Andrea ; Hauser, Michael (advisor) ; Semrádová, Ilona (referee) ; Hejduk, Tomáš (referee)
Enthusiasmos in thinking of ancient Greece. - This disertation thesis analyzes the issue of enthusiasm in the context of thinking of the Ancient and Classical Greece. In a theoretical manner also tries to gain an insight into the semantical structure of enthusiasm basing on historical excursus (the Ancient Age, the Classial Age) to support its historical transformation. It was enthusiasmos and the way o mantical explanation, which enabled the poets to create pieces of art and gave rise to performing and poetry art. This thesis aims to explore the philosophical reflection of enthusiasm, because the gift of divine presence itself, such as the inspired poetic speech, was in the Archaic period certainly guarantee of the truthfulness, but in the Classical period, was all the more reason for doubt and questions. Selected works by prominent authors of ancient mindset are systematically analyzed in the context of enthusiasm.

From Eros to Philosophy

Summar7@issertation,,FromEros to Philosophy..,TomášHejduk) The studytries to answerthe following question:what is themeaningof thewordy'/ra in its specificusagein theconceptoffilo-sofia atthebeginningof theEuropeanculturď tradition? We answerthis questionby exploringSocrates'elaborationof the conceptof eros andhis relationto the godEros. We try to identi$ theconceptoffilia in Socrates'philosophymore precisely by displaying the conceptof eros in the sameway as it is elaboratedby this Athenianphilosopher. One of themain assetsof our work shouldlie in thecomparisonof theconventionalandnon- conventional(philosophicď)conceptionsof eros andfilia, in thesearchingfor anddescribing the differencesbetween taditional models of behaviour in ancient Greek society and Socratic-Platonicmodelsof eroticrelationshipsandits innovations. We intendto reveď how eros andthusfilia is understood1)by SocratesandPlato,i.e.by philosophers,2)by thinkers living beforeSocrates,i.e. on thefield of religion,3) by Socrates'contemporaries, regardless of them being intellectuals (Lysias, Aristophanes) or not (Xenophon). We therefore contemplatethe philosophical conceptof eros from tfueedifferentpoints of view: from the meaningof filia in the notionoffilo-sofia; from the differenceof thetraditional(religious) conception;from the differenceof the...

Mathematical modelling in basin of Litavka in the framework integrated system water
Hejduk, Tomáš ; Pech, Pavel (advisor) ; Máca, Petr (referee)
These thesis brings new findings in flood issues, which importance has been sharply increasing in the light of last years experience. Hypotheses about the usefulness of hydrological measurements in the creation of computational geometry watercourses, as well as using the data from aerial laser scanning in the preparation of computer tracks water flows have been confirmed. Presented papers introduce the use of new technologies, knowledge and other results of applied research in the field of preparation of input data for hydrodynamic models, geographic information systems, personal identification and early warning and information sharing to support the elimination of consequences of natural disasters or traffic accidents. The above presented findings about the use of airborne laser scanning data and synthesis these data with hydrological measurements are of great importance for the improvement of flood prevention. Another practical use of these findings lies in urbanism planning and flood forecasts. The effort is to increase the security of citizens in the case of threats to their security through early warning - ie. Preventative protection by results of conducted research in the field of mathematical modelling rainfall-runoff and passage of flood flows in the river system providing new knowledge for the identification and registration of persons. During the research conducted, the attention was paid to define tools supporting integrated activities of the state security and rescue forces, including increased education and communication between state administration, local governments and the public. However the main goal of this work is to prevent the effects of natural and anthropogenic risks to human health and property of citizens. The attention is paid especially on the most common natural hazard represented by the floods.
