How a drogue ex-user see a period of his addiction
Hronková, Veronika ; Kubišová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
Subject: How a drogue ex-user see a period of his addiction. Abstract: The work focus on the actual situation of ex-users. These people were fighting with an addiction and now they are a part of the majority society. The qualitative research, inspired by a grounded theory, try to approach their point of view. What they think about their past and how do they see their relations with a family, friends and a vicinage. Not just in that period but nowadays as well. Relationships with home-folks are stigmatized by a degree of drug addiction. The smaller addiction the smaller losses. Once a drug user is falling down into the drug trap, the losses depend on how deep he will fall. On the bottom there are no friends, no family, just nothing. Some of the drug users do not fall to the bottom, they do their decision earlier. We call that decision a break point ( a moment when they decide to abstain). A break point comes individually and it is connected to an "interior border" of each person. Anyway, it is a moment, when an individual concerned decide to live a different way. It is a very intense moment and very fundamental for a abstinence success. We have used an interview to study not just this phenomenon. During the interview we tried to find out how a life looks with and without an addiction. Key words: addiction,...

Kavanová, Blanka ; Blažková, Miloslava (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
Bachelor's Thesis: Difference in Plato's, Aristotle's and Aurelius Augustinus' Understanding to Virtue Name: Blanka Kavanová Faculty: Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy Year: 2011 ABSTRACT The bachelor's thesis is concerned with the development and differences in Plato's, Aristotle's and Aurelius Augustinus' concept of virtue. The first part is focused on Plato's concept of four basic virtues, i.e. moderation/reasonableness, justice, courage and wisdom. In connection with these virtues, also his concepts of the good, soul, soul care and the duality of the worlds are outlined. From Plato's viewpoint, the virtue is seen as areté, i.e. excellence or the unity of soul goodness. In the second part of the work, the concept of Plato is compared with ideas of his disciple, friend and critic Aristotle. His concept of virtue is based on human experience in the sensual world. The crucial terms of his ethics are activity, pleasure, eudaimonia (bliss) and the golden mean. Aristotle distinguishes two classes of virtues; consuetudinary moral virtues, e.g. courage, justice, moderation and generosity, and learnable intellectual virtues, i.e. art, knowledge, reasonableness, wisdom and understanding. The third part of the word deals with comparison of ancient,...
Aesthetics and Politics: Jacques Rancière's approach
Krochmalný, Ondřej ; Hauser, Michael (advisor) ; Hogenová, Anna (referee) ; Kalábová, Helena (referee)
v anglickém jazyce Proposed thesis focuses on the writings of french theoretician Jacques Rancière. Particular emphasis is put on a manner, in which the spheres of aesthetics and politics appear and intervine in Rancière's works. The consequence of forementioned delimitation of the subject of my interest is that the thesis doesn't fully embody Rancière's thought. Mainly because of the restricted space, i omitted Rancière's historiographical works and also texts that deal with the narrowly defined questions of literature and film. Despite of those limitations, my goal is to provide a monographical introduction to Rancière's thought. This monograph, on the one hand, doesn't claim the complete coverage of Rancière's works, but it aims, on the other hand, to provide the overall insight into the essential questions that shaped (and still shape) Rancière's thought.
The Comparison of Athenian democracy with the political views of Plato and Aristotle.
Mirvald, Lukáš ; Stracený, Josef (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
In my thesis I analyse the issue of democracy in antiquity. Research includes practice and theory. At the beginning I will focus on the analysis of the real functioning of democracy in the Athenian polis (how the idea of democracy arose, what were the political institutions, who had or did not have a share in the controlling of the polis etc.). Emphasis is placed on the history of Athens in the 6th to 4th centuries BC. The core of this chapter is the time of Pericles when Athenian democracy reached its peak. The second part of the thesis describes how democracy was viewed by leading ancient thinkers - Plato and his disciple Aristotle. One of the aims of this thesis is to understand their criticism of the democratic establishment and what alternatives governments offer as better. The third part of the thesis is a comparison between political reality in ancient Athens and political theory in the works of Plato and Aristotle.

Kučerová, Kateřina ; Stracený, Josef (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
The master thesis "Comparison of the development of party systems in the Czech Republic and in the Slovak Republic in 2010-2020" is focused on the analysis of the development of the Czech and Slovak party system in the years 2010-2020 and their mutual comparison. So the milestone for the analysis was the years 2010-2020. During this period there were fundamental changes in the Czech and Slovak party systems, which was the main reason for choosing this topic. The individual periods of development of both party systems will be defined by parliamentary elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and to the National Council of the Slovak Republic. The analysis is based on the methods mentioned in the theoretical part of the work and on the classical typologies of party systems of M. Duverger, J. Blondel and G. Sartori. In the analysis itself, electoral statistics, surveys of electoral preferences and media sources are largely used. Among the main criteria for the analysis, the number and size of political parties and their relevance were determined. The relevance means the determination of coalition or blackmail potential. Furthermore, the degree of fragmentation of the party system and the main cleavages will be determined. The comparison will be based on an analysis...
Introduction to the conceptual basis of Vratislav Effenberger's thought (Dialectics of the genesis of the concept of idea models)
Svěrák, Šimon ; Hauser, Michael (advisor) ; Novák, Aleš (referee) ; Borecký, Felix (referee)
Dissertation Abstract Introduction to the conceptual basis of Vratislav Effenberger's thought (Dialectics of the genesis of the concept of idea models) Mgr. Šimon Svěrák The thesis introduces a reader to the basic aspects of the theoretical system of Vratislav Effenberger, the main theoretician of post-war Czech surrealism. It does so through the construction of a developmental dialectic of the main concepts of Effenberger's work of the 1960s, which culminates in the concept of so-called idea models. In this period, Effenberger primarily addresses the question of the nature of the existential forms of the concept of total meaning in the post-war social and psychological situation. He formulates his reflections as a critical reassessment of the theoretical legacy of Karl Teige and a question of the possibility of further continuity of the Surrealist worldview. The thesis demonstrates that Effenberger first rejects the notion of ultimate meaning, through which psychosocial reality can be grasped as a meaningful whole, and replaces it with a notion of conflict. However, the internal logic of his theoretical system gradually leads him to the conclusion that human consciousness cannot exist without the idea of ultimate meaning and that such meaning exists only in the form of the idea model. The idea model is...
Slavoj Žižek and the critique of ideology
Takač, Peter ; Hauser, Michael (advisor) ; Benyovszky, Ladislav (referee) ; Pelcová, Naděžda (referee)
The goal of the thesis is to analyze the contemporary form of ideology through the work of Slavoj Žižek. It aims to answer the question - resulting from the widespread notion of the end of ideology - what do people believe in nowadays. In other words, what do we follow or what do we respect if it is said that we do not believe in anything? The collapse of the communist project in the Eastern bloc brought a period of distrust towards grand narratives and utopian projects. In addition, the widespread form of ideology, which currently has been liberal democracy, allows each individual to choose their own way of life and among a wide range of parties with different political orientations. The answers to the critical analysis of this assumption and the current form of ideology are found in the work of Slavoj Žižek, who has been dealing with these questions since the end of the Cold War. The first part of the thesis presents the Marxist tradition of critique of ideology - its forms and observations it brought into this area. The second part deals with Žižek's contribution to the topics while clarifying the concepts of the Symbolic and the Big Other, representing the current forms of the unconscious and practiced collective activity. The influence of the dominant form of ideology on the population and...
