Prism adaptation treatment of spatial neglect
Vilimovský, Tomáš ; Harsa, Pavel (advisor) ; Dostálová, Veronika (referee) ; Habermannová, Markéta (referee)
Spatial neglect (SN) is a common cognitive disorder after brain injury. Spatial neglect impedes functional recovery, leading to reduced rehabilitation gains and slowed recovery. Prism adaptation treatment (PAT) is one of the promising interventions for SN albeit inconsistent results from previous studies. The main goal of this thesis was to implement PAT in into a highly intensive rehabilitation program and evaluate its effectiveness on reduction of SN symptoms and adverse effects of SN on rehabilitation outcomes. In our first study we carried out a comparison intervention (PAT vs. Sham) and aimed to evaluate the efficacy of PAT on visuospatial symptoms of SN in an inpatient rehabilitation setting that offered a highly intensive comprehensive brain injury rehabilitation program. The objective of the second study was to investigate whether integrating PAT into this rehabilitation program eliminates the negative impact of spatial neglect on functional and motor recovery. Although SN symptoms were reduced in both groups, we found no difference between the two groups in the degree of improvement. In addition, the average SN recovery rates were higher in the PAT group compared to Sham group, but this discrepancy did not reach statistical significance. Thus, the first study suggests that PAT may...
The impact of influencers on Generation Z news awareness on Social media (on the example of Covid-19 pandemic)
Dostálová, Veronika ; Háša, Marek (advisor) ; Odstrčilová, Klára (referee)
This bachelor's thesis examines the role of influencers on generation Z's news awareness of current events and the covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the thesis aims to understand the attitude generation Z has towards influencers spreading information on social media, especially in connection with the relevance and authenticity of this information. The main topics include social media, influencers and generation Z, which are presented in greater detail in the theoretical part. Research was carried out in a form of six semi-structured in-depth interviews with generation Z. Implementation of the interviews and data analysis followed by the grounded theory method. Results indicate that the participants still prefer traditional media sources, not only when seeking verified information. The participants are aware of the existing impact which influencers can have on information. Nonetheless, they approach influencers rather negatively, despite the fact that they drew information from at least one influencer during the covid-19 pandemic. Main limitation of the research was primarily small number and gender imbalanced selection of interviewed participants and partial decline of interest in the topic of covid-19.

Mesenchymal stem cells and the possibility of their transdifferentiation into insulin producing cells.
Dostálová, Veronika ; Holáň, Vladimír (advisor) ; Čečrdlová, Eva (referee)
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been demonstrated in almost all tissues of the body. Their main source is bone marrow and adipose tissue. These cells are multipotent, e.g. they are capable of differentiating into a variety of cell types. They are able to migrate into damaged tissues. Their other relevant property is a specific suppression of imunity. In the body they serve as precursors for specialized cell types and they also participate in formation of specific tissue microenvironment. Their properties represent a great potential in a wide range of clinical therapies. Besides other possible applications they could be used in the therapy of diabetes mellitus type one. During this disease insulin producing -cells are destroyed. MSCs have been used in experimental in vitro and in vivo studies to differentiate into insulin producing cells. However these cells are not able to produce sufficient amounts of insulin to exclude the supportive administration of exogenous insulin. Therefore there is a need for further research in this field of possible therapy.
The creation of a methodical series of exercises for the specialization of the libero in volleyball.
Dostálová, Veronika ; Vorálek, Rostislav (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
In this Master's thesis I am focusing on the creation of a series of exercices for the libero player in volleyball. Exercises focus on the training of specific activities that are mandatory while participating in the game: passing, digging, setting and covering. In the description of individual game activities, always emphasize the key moments of training. The first part focuses on introducing readers to the theoretical basics of volleyball. The main focus is on the detailed description and analysis of the key gaming activities of libero such as mentioned before. The second part of the Master's thesis consists of the exercises I have created for libero player specialization. Exercises are divided into four parts, according to individual game activities. Exercises shown in kinograms (phased footage from the video that is verbally described). Attached to the Master's thesis is a video with a complete series of skill developing exercises with comments. Key words: libero, methodical series, pass, set, dig, cover
Cognitive and psychosocial sequelae following hypoxic brain injury.
Dostálová, Veronika ; Bezdíček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Šonka, Karel (referee) ; Feketeová, Eva (referee)
Cognitive and psychosocial sequelae following hypoxic brain injury Abstract in English Hypoxic brain injury leads to neuronal necrosis and to other cerebral changes which may affect psychosocial functioning. Although the pathophysiology of cerebral hypoxia is multifactorial, and it is not possible to reliably describe the unified clinical picture of hypoxia patients, the most commonly described psychosocial consequences of cerebral hypoxia are cognitive impairment, increased anxiety and depressive symptoms. The aim of the present study is to characterize cognitive functioning and psychosocial changes of the patients exposing mild intermittent cerebral hypoxia (=chronic form of hypoxia, model of obstructive sleep apnea diagnosed by neurologist) and patients after severe one-time cerebral hypoxia (=acute form of hypoxia, model of cardiac arrest diagnosed by cardiologist). Regardless of the different etiology of particular hypoxia forms described in the theoretical part of the thesis, both forms may lead to neuronal death. In the experimental part we test a hypothesis comparing healthy individuals to patients with acute or chronic form of hypoxia in cognitive performance or anxiety and depressive symptoms. We document a decreased cognitive performance and higher level of state anxiety in a group of patients...
The analysis of certain moves by the libero in volleyball when not in possession of the ball
Dostálová, Veronika ; Buchtel, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vorálek, Rostislav (referee)
This thesis focuses on the analysis of certain moves by the libero in volleyball when not in possession of the ball. I analyse individual sequences with the help of the DartFish software program, which I apply to situations following serve of my team and that of my opponent. Movement is analysed up to the moment the libero makes contact with the ball, as well as after contact. The theoretical section introduces the reader to volleyball as a sport. Here I address individual moves in play with emphasis on the actions of passing and digging, the libero's main functions. The conclusion of the theoretical section also provides basic information on the diagnostic programs Datavolley and DartFish, which are used for breaking down volleyball moves. In the research section, movement of the libero during a match while not in possession of the ball is analysed. I examine the distance of moves during individual rallies, the time of moves, starting positions, and positions while passing and digging. Conclusions are drawn based on the results, which are then evaluated and compared. Key words: libero, defence, starting position, movement in the court, analysis, DartFish. Showing Chosen Strong Female Characters in TV Series and Their Reflection in the Real World
Dostálová, Veronika ; Kruml, Milan (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
This thesis deals with the influence of TV series and their strong heroines on female audience. The aim of this work is to find out whether selected female characters influence the general view of the femine beauty ideal, whether the viewers were in any way inspired by strong female characters and whether these series have opened up some social issues. These goals were formulated into three research questions, which will be answered in the conclusion. The work is divided into three main parts - theoretical, methodological and practical. The theoretical part aims to acquaint the reader with the theoretic basis needed to understand the researched issues. The methodological part presents research methods with all its advantages and disadvantages. The last practical part is focused on research and interpretation of the obtained data. A qualitative method is used to achieve the results, specifically the grounded theory, which is used for the analysis and subsequent interpretation of data obtained from interviews.
