THE USE OF ELETRONIC MEASURING SYSTEMS FOR MONITORING STRUCTURES
Kovács, Pavel ; Zich, Miloš (referee) ; Doc.Ing. Karel Kubečka, Ph.D (referee) ; Daněk, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with the use of the electronic measuring systems for monitoring structures. The first part of this work is focused on mapping the available measuring systems for monitoring deformations and strains, from the point of their measurement accuracy, the real advantages and disadvantages, including examples of monitoring of constructions. In the second part were selected measuring systems for monitoring strains and deflection interest structure. Subsequently, the measuring system with online recording into the tested roof structure was installed and the loading test was performed. Obtained data were compared with other two independent measurements. In the last part of the thesis, the measured values of each independent measurements were compared together, and with the values calculated from the mathematical model. The achieved results show that the installed monitoring system is capable to reliably measure deformation of the structure in real time and thus to warn the building administrator against the potential danger in advance.
Identification and characterisation of novel mechanisms regulating steady state and emergency granulopoiesis

ABSTRACT Neutrophils are essential cells of the immune system. They engage in pathogen clearance, inflammatory response, and wound healing. Proper production and activation of neutrophils is critical for the health of an individual, since several disorders are related to neutrophilic alterations. In this thesis, we explore three previously uncharacterized mechanisms that might be involved in the regulation of neutrophilic differentiation. First, we addressed the role of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway. This signaling is executed by interaction of -catenin with TCF/LEF transcription factors. We employed a murine model that specifically inactivates -catenin-TCF/LEF-mediated transcription by expressing a dominant negative form of TCF4 (dnTCF4). Using this model in combination with several in vitro and in vivo assays we demonstrated that -catenin-TCF/LEF signaling directly upregulates expression of G-CSF receptor in hematopoietic progenitors, imposing myeloid commitment and favoring neutrophilic differentiation. This appeared to be especially important during the response to systemic infection, termed emergency granulopoiesis, as dnTCF4-expressing mice showed high susceptibility to Candida albicans infection. Remarkably, the critical role of -catenin-TCF/LEF signaling for neutrophil differentiation...
The Friends and Neighbours Effect and Its Relevance to Voting Behaviour in Czech Parliamentary Elections
Pileček, Radek ; Kostelecký, Tomáš (advisor) ; Daněk, Petr (referee)
Voter decision-making about which political party to support in the elections is a very complex process. One of the key factors influencing our voting behaviour is the effect of particular candidates in terms of their local activities. Many Czech and also foreign studies show that candidates gain significantly higher preferences in the municipality of their residence and its surroundings. Within the analyzed parliamentary elections, this is reflected not only by the territorial concentration of preferential votes, but also by higher local electoral support of the political parties or movements represented by these candidates. This diploma thesis examines, among other things, differences in the strength of the described effect (technically called the friends and neighbours effect) between candidates from different political parties and in different regions of Czechia. Quantitative research has shown greater local strength and spatial extent of friends and neighbours effect for leading candidates from non-metropolitan areas who have experiences from local or regional politics, such as mayors or regional councilors. In the 2017 parliamentary elections, the friends and neighbours effect mostly influenced the spatial patterns of electoral support of the KDU-ČSL and the STAN movement and on the other...
Jesuits and musical culture in Prague 1556-1623
Kroupa, Jiří ; Daněk, Petr (advisor) ; Čornejová, Ivana (referee) ; Jeż, Tomasz (referee)
This thesis contributes to our knowledge of the early (modern) Bohemian musical culture by tracing the musical production and activities at the Jesuit Clementinum college in Prague from its foundation in 1556 to the establishment of the autonomous Bohemian Province in 1623. This analysis draws on original Jesuit archival documents (diaria / diaries, memorial books, catalogi personarum / personnel catalogues, litterae annuae / annual letters, historiographical works of the period) and wider primary sources, which the author interprets within broader socio-cultural and historical realms. Authentic testimonies written in Latin that document musical activities in the Clementinum and the relationship of Prague Jesuits with music are included in the footnotes or in appendices. Individual chapters seek to illustrate (illustrare) and assess (recensere) the materials investigated from the following points of view: 1) institutional (Order, College, associated sodalities); 2) environmental acoustics (broader sound production within the spaces of the College and the rest of the city); 3) prosopographical (music prefects of the College and of the Marian Congregation); 4) surviving musical sources; 5) ceremonies with musical components (liturgical and paraliturgical ceremonies, graduations, congregational...
The Concept of Place in the Context of Transatlantic Transformations: Socio-Cultural Aspects of Changes in Selected Cities during the 20th Century
Mozr, Tomáš ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Daněk, Petr (referee) ; Gibas, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with the concept of place and its transformation in the context of transatlantic transformations that still till nowadays stood aside the interests of the professional community. Representative place in the thesis is an example of the american bar, where the institution symbolized the newly established cultural elements gradually penetrated into the whole society and to this extent it could be viewed as a passenger concept venue. The main pillar of the thesis is to take into account sociocultural, economic, demographic and political aspects of bar environment as a peculiar manifestation of transatlantic communication. The key question to the concept of place is therefore whether the European continent was in the interwar period under a wave of Americanization, which in various locations showed a totally unique way that reflected the rising standard of living, while within the United States shaped this culture again by different way. On the other side, we meet with the complicated situation in the form of "dry" America and "thirsty" of Europe, or whether it was just an extraordinary manifestation of transatlantic relations and interaction, which would have thus secondarily been demonstrated modifications to the original concept in a European environment. The thesis is designed on...

The bachelor thesis deals with the basics of diagnostics of structures and states the most frequently used methods. In the context of non-destructive diagnostics, there is described the ultrasonic pulse velocity test in detail, along with it’s principle and possible ways of application. The main content of the thesis is description and application of several approaches that are offered by the ultrasonic pulse testing instrument Pundit PL-200 by Proceq SA. The results of several measurements, performed both in laboratory and in situ, are processed here, focusing mainly on the assessment of the comparability of values acquired with different measuring settings on the same element. Another conclusion is the determination of concrete homogeneity in the structures according to the standard ČSN 73 2011.
Friends and Neighbours Effect on Voting in the Královéhoradecký Region
Frič, David ; Kostelecký, Tomáš (advisor) ; Daněk, Petr (referee)
David Frič FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS EFFECT ON VOTING IN THE KRÁLOVÉHRADECKÝ REGION Abstract This work deals with one of spatially contextual impacts on electoral behavior, namely the so- called friends and neighbours effect. It consists of influencing a voter's favor by the residence of a candidate around which the candidate usually gains more votes than an average for the whole constituency or more votes than would be expected by other criteria. The work verifies attendance and strength of this effect on the example of three kinds of elections in Královéhradecký Region. It analyzes friends and neighbours effect on voting in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies, the Regional Council and the Senate. The results of potency of the effect are examined separately in each of these elections and then compares results of the analyzes of these elections to each other, thereby provides a unique comparative perspective of this phenomenon in the Czech electoral systems. The significance of the friends and neighbours effect is also compared among selected political actors. The main part of the analysis focuses on their electoral results in individual municipalities as well as in the whole region, with regard to differences in results of candidates' hometowns. To illustrate the significance of the friends and...
The geographies of religion from a feminist perspective
Klingorová, Kamila ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Daněk, Petr (referee) ; Rochovská, Alena (referee)
This dissertation is based on the postsecularisation thesis which highlights the increasing role of religion nowadays. In the postmodern society, religion is understood not only as an objective truth, but also as the individual experience of a person. In relation to societal changes, a new paradigm has appeared - the new geographies of religion - which incorporates the individuality of a person into the discussion about religion in space. The study of religion as an individual experience could be significantly enhanced by feminist approaches which enable the inclusion of personal experiences. Therefore, the thesis contributes to the current direction of the geographies of religion connecting these with feminist approaches. The contribution of feminist approaches is assessed from the theoretical and empirical point of view. Feminist approaches develop themes of hierarchy, everydayness, emotionality, and embodiment, and thus contribute to the research on religion in a postsecular context. The empirical goal of the thesis is to consider the creation of sacred place and how religion frames the everyday experience of women. The thesis seeks to enrich Czech cultural geography with religious experience as another element forming space. The methodological framework uses the potential of a combination of...
