The Director as a Shifting Role
Burianová, Zuzana ; ŠIKTANCOVÁ, Jaroslava (advisor) ; BURIAN, Jan (referee)
The present master's thesis focuses on relationships between the director and the other creators of a theatre production and on the ways in which these relationships develop during the creative process. The author describes and reassesses specific practical examples from her directorial and dramaturgical experience in years 2012-2015. The first part is devoted to those productions in which the author collaborated also on the playtext. It seeks to identify specific primary impulses which had inspired individual projects and to track any subsequent evolution of these impulses, a process which the author defines as assignment formulation. The second part concentrates in more detail on collaboration with actors and explores the circumstances in which a free creative process can be established, the border between the actor's creation and the director's direction of the actor. The third part addresses the interaction between three theatre professions, namely the director, the dramaturgist and the set designer.
Model of relationship between poverty and decision-making
Svatoš, Filip ; Burian, Jan (advisor) ; Berka, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with a design of a model of financial decision making in humans with limited cognitive resources under conditions of poverty, subsequent creation of a computer simulation based on this model, finding parameters in which this model generates a behavior close to real data and testing the behavior of the model under different conditions. The created model is based on current findings in fields of psychology and economics regarding decision making, limited cognitive resources and impact of poverty on cognitive resources and decision making. The model is created using the system dynamics methodology and subsequently, with the use of UML language, implemented into a computer simulation in programmable environment NetLogo. Testing the model showed its ability to generate a behavior close to real data and thus its potential to be used as a model for studying and understanding of the dealt problem and experimenting in order to finding new ways of dealing with the problem of poverty.
Economic Transition in Czechoslovakia and Poland
Burián, Jan ; Chalupecký, Petr (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
Work describes economic transition of two countries in Central Europe, Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic) and Poland after their communist governments were deposed in 1989 and states left centrally planned economy. Work analyses initial transition plans and execution of privatisations. Further it analyses and compares development of monetary policies, gross domestic product and unemployment in both countries. Based on information contained in this work it concludes that it is not possible to state that Poland have undertaken transition more succesfully than Czech Republic. Last part of work is dedicated to the processes of application to the European Union, that both countries have gone through between 1991 and 2004.
FROM INTERPRETATIVE TO AUTHOR'S THEATER:Erik got lost
Prokhasko, Eduard ; DEÁK, Juraj (advisor) ; BURIAN, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis reflects the rehearsals process of the Erik got lost staging as experienced by the co-author and director. Author of the thesis, based on his experience, tries to name and analyze the most important issues and obstacles, which the team was facing and coming through during the staging process, and tries to link these issues to theatrical theory. The Author also decided not to detract practical and theoretical parts of the text but tried to harmonically interconnect them, to make one part coming out of another. This work contains a lot of phrases from Eliška Vavříkova?s poetry, book Memesis ana poiesis as well as Voice and movement by Maji Jawor. And this is not a coincidence. Ideas and reasoning of the Farm in the cave members have become an important source of inspiration for the author in terms of theatrical theory and future practice.
Agent-based models of cooperative games
Sedláček, Adam ; Burian, Jan (advisor) ; Dlouhý, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis describes design and creation of agent-based model of cooperative games and its subsequent analysis. The created model combines assumptions of game the-ory with other findings; it examines the dynamics of coalition formation and the influence of external and internal factors on this formation. The first theoretical part introduces the game theory and clarifies basic principles and con-cepts of N - player cooperative games. It evaluates the benefits and disadvantages of solu-tions introduced by this theory. The thesis further deals with multi-agent systems focused on agent-based models as an analytical and computational method for analyzing complex systems. There are also explained basic principles of agent-based modeling, including ap-proaches of their creation. Furthermore, there are presented distinctions between different types of agents, environments and models. The second practical part specifies assumptions and principles that are essential for the created multi-agent model. The diploma thesis describes the development of agent-based model of cooperative games by itself, including its characteristics and behavior. Final analysis of the created model clarifies impact of individual variables on the coalition for-mation process and confirms its ability to investigate given area.
Modelling of decision-making networks
Šilar, Pavel ; Burian, Jan (advisor) ; Šalamon, Tomáš (referee)
Delegative democracy is a new concept of democratic governance. It is meant as a new system of trust among people. It is derived from principles of direct democracy and presents only minimal form of representation. The voter is not forced to cast his vote directly, but it can be transferred to a delegate. Delegative democracy is based on openness, awareness and trust. It is still only a concept and for real application it has to face rising critics. Main issues are high costs, threat of populism and corruption and overall complexity. Agent-based modelling is chosen to test the validity of delelagative democracy principles. It is suitable for studying social phenomena such as democratic governance. Agent-based models apply a "new kind" of artificial intelligence -- a dynamic system composed of individual and autonomous units -- agents -- which interact within the environment. Universal methodology called Agentology is used to propose a new agent-based model. This methodology is composed of subsequent steps. These steps cover initial analysis, conceptual and technological proposal and development of the model itself. Assessment of delegative democracy principles is achieved with data acquired from the agent-based model. Delegative democracy is less effective for small and cooperative system than direct democracy. If more voters are delegating, this effectiveness decreases even more. This conclusion is based on initial parameters of the model. Delegating voters count is indeed a relevant parameter whereas total voters count is not. The model has its basic predicative value and is open to further elaboration.
Meaning of cognitive processes for creating artificial intelligence
Pangrác, Vojtěch ; Pstružina, Karel (advisor) ; Burian, Jan (referee)
This work is aimed at creating a single view in the field of cognitive processes. Namely it is analysis of providing importance of cognitive processes for the entire field of artificial intelligence. The whole area of cognitive processes is described through the analysis of biological cognitive processes and their subsequent comparison with the processes of artificial intelligence and also the overall analysis of their limitations and their use. The work also contains a brief overview of the architecture of artificial intelligence and philosophical essay focused on the relationship of mind and body. In the end we present a project from IBM workshop, which is very important for their ability to work with natural language and understanding the content of questions asked.
