Kudry, Jan ; Šotolová, Eva (advisor) ; Škoda, Jiří (referee) ; Bajcura, Lubomír (referee)
Dissertational thesis is about children from socially excluded areas particularly their aspirations regarding their education and their preferred choice of subjects. We use the traits of their environment to address and specify terms, which we chose to describe the peculiarities in education and the principles of socialization of these children. Further, we define the relationship of the family to school. The empirical part of this thesis analyzes in detail the methods we used during our research. The research is based on both quantitative analysis using questioners and qualitative in- depth interviewing methods. The goal of our research is to find out whether students from socially excluded areas have the same attitude toward their future as children from prevalent areas. Whether these students have the same subject preferences and ideas about their future employment. We discuss the findings of this research further in order to apply them in a real educational environment. This research found out that children from excluded areas have very similar ideas about their future employment. They also prefer similar subjects compared to students from prevalent areas. KEYWORDS: Socially excluded area, Roma child, socialization, family, education, vocational aspiration

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed childhood psychiatric disorders, with prevalence 5 - 10 % in general population. This developmental disordes is manifested in every part of children's behavior and it is characterized by inadequate level of attention, excessive activity and impulsivity. ADHD is a complex disorder influenced by genetic and environmental factors, characterized by variol symptomatology, etiology and heterogeneous development. It is a model disorder for combination of interaction of genetic, neurobiological and environmental factors. The aim of the presented study was to describe the variability of somatic development of ADHD children. The main aim wass to analyze the growth of medicated and non-medicated ADHD children compared with population norms. Partial question is to identify factors which may be conneted with these changes, e. g. specific life style of this group. In order to ansewer these question two independent studies were provided- the first focused on anthropometric examination, the second focused on eating habits and lifestyle in ADHD children. According to the results of the first study there are differences in anthropometric parameters between the group of ADHD children compared to control children and also between the...
Integrated Science Education and History of Science in Chemistry Education
Šíba, Michal ; Klímová, Helena (advisor) ; Škoda, Jiří (referee) ; Karpenko, Vladimír (referee)
The present dissertation Integrated Science Education and History of Science in Chemistry Education is aimed at the problem of integrating scientific subjects by means of natural history. The thesis contains research concerned with integrating science education in its various forms and its analysis from the point of valid curricular documents. Results of a questionnaire on intersubject integration distributed among grammar school chemistry teachers are presented in the thesis. Further on, an approach to the integration by means of natural history is presented. Didactic materials were created on this topic: worksheets and didactic tests in Adobe Flash. Worksheets were attested in grammar school teaching and results of this attestation are included. The thesis also includes results of two projects aimed at the topic of natural history. These projects are: History of Natural Sciences in High School Teacher Education (Fund for the development of higher education in the Czech Republic, 2011) and a course called Alchymistic Prague (Developmental project of the Ministry of Education, 2011: Chemistry year - Chemistry for all).

1 Abstract: The main parameters describing content and the accessibility of information from textbooks are many aspects such as text difficulty and others. Individual characteristics of pupils - that are represented by chosen student preconceptions and misconceptions - also belong to key factors. The providing of the comprehensive view of the issues regarding analysis and the linking of acquired pieces of knowledge with the practical textbook creation have been the main aims of this dissertation. The creation of an instructional text follows the analysis results of the topic carbohydrates and their metabolism in chosen textbooks and the preconception analysis of biochemical terms. The instructional text respects the results of the analysis. The theoretical background of textbook creation (the functions of textbooks, their structure, content, characteristics and investigated parameters) has been described in detail in the theoretical part of this doctoral thesis. It is followed by the survey of the information concerning student preconceptions and the possibilities for their analysis and use in teaching. The aspects of textbooks use from the perspective of pupils, teachers and publishers, as well as the relation of the topic carbohydrates and their metabolism to curriculum documents have been described in...

After the curricular reform, impact put on general education, including chemistry, brings considerable changes in this area. The questionnaire used was focused on three spheres: students' attitudes towards chemistry, didactical facilities used in chemistry education and students' attitudes towards particular chemical topics. The questionnaire was submitted to students (N = 959) at the beginning of the school year after they entered secondary school. That way the results reflect students' attitudes constructed at primary schools. The results show negative students' attitudes. They are mostly affected by the difficulty of the subject and also by students' low interest in the topics. It was also proved that topics close to students' lives play a vital role. Based on the results of the research, proposals may be word in order to solve the situation: emphasizing activating methods such as: experimental work and active observation, also...
