The Analysis of the state and prospects of interlibrary loan services in the Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno.

(in English) This thesis deals with the topic of interlibrary loan services (ILS) at general level. In addition, the trends of further development of this type of service are outlined. In specific technical part of this thesis, the development of ILS in the Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno is analyzed, mainly on the basis of existing records since 2004. The thesis describes the function and organization of ILS in this library at present and taking into account The Concept of Development of Libraries in the Czech Republic for the years 2011 - 2015, including the implementation of internet in libraries, the thesis also lists the possible prospects of development and ensuring ILS in Kladno for the oncoming period.

The Archives of the National Theatre in the past and digital presence

The aim of the thesis is to create the documentation basis for the grant project, whose object is to revitalize the archives extensively, all based on the in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the Archives of the National Theatre. It presents the archives as an information system in the digital age above all, but in a broader historical context. It focuses on theater archives and their specifics, including the methodology for archiving. It characterizes the aspects of digital archives affiliated to significant theaters both at home and abroad. It describes the resulting draft of the grant project leading to the solution that should provide benefits for the theater community and the wider public and to transform the archives in a genuinely effective information system. The thesis also tries to search for the meaning and role of theater archives in the background of technological developments. Cooperation public children libraries with kindergarten in Prague

(in English): The purpose of this Bachelor thesis is to define the structure of cooperation between children library and the kindergarten. This proces was examined from different kind of views, but primarily the proces is shown on one concrete cooperation between Munincipal library in Prague - Prosek and its children branch and kindergarten Novoborská.This final paper includes a case study focused on the kindergarten requirements concerning the librarian services provided by the library. The study is being made by using the method of quality research. The outcome of the thesis is to provide a design of marketing campaign for the Prosek's Munincipal library in Prague. The campaign is being made out using the information based on the case study combinated with the key literature focused on methods and recommendations how to work with preschool children, which can be found in the state educational program paper and IFLA guide for Children's library services. Other data used for creating the campaign are based on detailed analysis of the children library at the Munincipal library in Prague - Prosek.

(česky) Cílem bakalářské práce je popis oborové brány Musica (MUS), která je zajišťována Národní Knihovnou České republiky. V teoretické části je definován termín oborová brána, popsána historie vzniku oborových bran v České republice a jejich navázání na Jednotnou informační bránu. Dále je popsán vznik samotné brány Musica. Zmíněny jsou též nejvýznamnější domácí i zahraniční informační prameny, ke kterým brána poskytuje jednotný přístup. V práci jsou popsány i poskytované služby související s portálem - oborové zpravodajství a česká redakce Mezinárodního soupisu hudebních pramenů RISM. Důraz je věnován i na použité technologie, na kterých MUS stojí. Těmi jsou federativní vyhledávač MetaLib a link server SFX, který zajišťuje doplňkové služby. V praktické části je popsáno samotné vyhledávání informací v oborové bráně Musica. Detailně jsou rozepsány možnosti dohledání informací, zdrojů a jejich členění do kategorií. Následuje případová studie, ve které se dvě respondentky (absolventka konzervatoře, učitelka hry na klavír), snaží vyhledat v oborové bráně informace. Jejich snažení je popsáno, analyzováno a na jeho základě jsou sepsána doporučení, jež by učinila vyhledávání v bráně přívětivějším pro nezkušené uživatele.

A complaints book in the library - examples of the use and effectiveness

Bachelor's thesis describes the analysis of the entries in the Books of wishes and complaints about the practice of free different types of libraries. Entries are analyzed of view form and content, and then dividend according to the formal processing of the types of records that are subsequently dividend according dates and according to content, broken down into categories and subcategories that describe the subjekt entries. Further on, response libraries thus obtained suggestions and feedback to the scene chosen by comparing the best practices and recommended its improvement. The work is made up of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part of the tendency is the definition of the term Suggestions and complaints and are described embodiment, a complaints book with which a user might encounter in the Czech libraries. In the practical part is a description of the analysis, which took place in the National Library, Regional Library in Pardubice and Prague MunicipalLibrary.

Digital repositories at universities in the Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis is to present, analyse, compare and evaluate the current state of digital repositories at universities in the Czech Republic that use a software application for their digital repository. A theoretical part, which introduces the reader into the issue of compilation and operating of digital repositories in the Czech academic context, precedes the practical reserach. The crucial chapter of the practical part are the results of the actual analysis. The results of a supplementary survey of universities that do not run a digital repository with usage of software application and choose a different way of storage and access to their grey literature draw on the results of this analysis. The conclusion of the entire thesis is the outline of future development of the investigated issue and the perspective of further progress of the Czech academic milieu.

Political and educational role of public libraries in the 50 and 60 years in Ostrava region

Political and educational role of public libraries in the 50 and 60 years in Ostrava region The thesis is focused on cultural politics of the communist regime in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century in relation to public libraries. Based on archival materials the main attention is paid to the situation in the Ostrava region Cultural policy was aimed in two directions. First through repression, when citizens were banned from access to ideas and works that the regime considered as harmful or objectionable. This activity was implemented by censorship of printed materials, sorting of collections and persecution of opponents. Second way to filling the gaps after undesirable denied authors by pro-regime publications, written in the style of socialist realism. Public libraries were using different sorts of methods how to bring readers to this new literature and how to bring them up to be loyal and conscious builders of socialism - e.g. discussions and reader's conferences, literature contests and polls, Fucik's badge, Month of books and so on. The focus is also on libraries promotion of actions and activities supporting the policy of the Party and the government, such as celebrations of party anniversary, recruitment in mining, atheistic education of readers etc.

Content management system with a focus on utilization in the library environment

Systémy pro správu obsahu s důrazem na využitelnost v knihovnickém prostředí Michaela Pappová Abstract (in English): The work is focused on open source web content management systems (WCMS), the conception and contextualisation. The advantages and negative factors associated with the use of these systems are discussed based on SWOT analysis. The next section presents selected WCMS - Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla! and Plone. These systems are compared in terms of potential utilization / deployment on the web, especially for small and medium-sized libraries by analyzing a sample of library web sites and specialized extensions, functions and other options offered by the system.

The analysis of digital archive Ask the Library

This bachelor's thesis seeks to analyze records of answered queries, saved in their online digital archive of the Czech national digital reference service called Ask your library. Two first chapters are based on studying sources, found within a bibliographical exploration of the subject. The first chapter briefly presents the service (development, current state, function, organization and administration, receiving and answering processes, etc.). The second chapter describes in detail the creation of online archive with answered queries and researching information from it. In the third chapter is detailed analysis of answered queries. The presentation of the results forms a major part of the work. The analysis includes the presentation and interpretation of basic statistics published on the Web site (eg. the proportion of questions within years, the share of stakeholders on answering queries, etc..), and analysis of the content of the answered queries within selected thematic categories (content and nature of the response, used and others recommended resources). Finally, the author evaluates the results of the analysis of the online archive of the answered queries and perspectives of next development of this service. Methods for monitoring inter-library loans at selected libraries in Czech Republic

Metody sledování prezenčních výpůjček ve vybraných knihovnách v České republice Michaela Chržová Abstrakt (anglicky) The thesis is focused on the issue of monitoring inter-library loans with examples of particular libraries. This thesis commences with a definition of the in-house use and other basic terms and places them in the context of providing library loan services, the organization of library collections and the accessibility of documents in libraries. A separate chapter discusses the issue of feedback in libraries. This section describes the principle of feedback and describes the methods used and suitable for monitoring inter-library loans. Part is also devoted to the research that had been held in the past in the Czech Republic and abroad. The practical part deals with the survey of monitoring inter-library loans at libraries in the Czech Republic that was conducted via a questionnaire. Results are evaluated and described in this thesis. Examples of specific libraries show ways how to use data collected by monitoring in-house use in the acquisition of documents, development and organization of library collections. The result of this thesis is a description of methods for monitoring inter- library loans at selected libraries in the Czech Republic.
