The History, Present and Prospects of Development of the Šmidinger's Library of Strakonice

In presented work, the authoress tries to find an answer the question what is the role ad status of regional libraries in today's society. As the object of their study chose the library at South Bohemian town of Strakonice. This decision had the chance to examine a sufficiently representative body from selected point of view. Surveyed library has all needed attributes which this point of view calls. Long and interesting history. Attractive locating. Deep cohesion to region and to its development. The library has also built enough support, both from the perspective of the library, so in terms of organization. Very wide and varied range of services. Optimal size and composition of staffing. The library also has a set of clients that are geographically, educationally, and in terms of age stratification of normally structured. Besides the main Library Locations offering its services in several locations and operates an advanced network of local libraries in the region. The authoress describes in detail the organizational chart of the library and activities of each department. Organization and Management Changes of Collection Development Department of the State Technical Library from 2001 to 2009

The thesis deals with the organization and management of the Department of Acquisition in the State Technical Library (STL). The aim of the thesis is to analyse, describe and evaluate changes in acquisition carried out in the years 2001-2009. It is based on the theoretical assumptions of work organization which is described in the opening chapter. The text on the theoretical level introduced the job responsibilities of acquisitioners in libraries. The practical part of the thesis follows the first two chapters. In this part of the thesis, a decomposition of static and dynamic elements in the STK is made, which is related to the acquisitioner's work. Next, transformations in library organizational structure which were formed during reorganization changes are described. Acquisition is not only the entry process of the intricate information system, but also stands at the beginning of the processing line, which is described in the text. A separate chapter is devoted to variations of the Department of Acquisition in the STL, where acquisition structure and acquisitioner's responsibilities are analyzed in detail. Acquisition effects are illustrated with the statistical statements. Organizational changes carried out in the Department of Acquisition are evaluated in the final chapter.

Principles of Library 2.0 in Collection Development of Libraries

The thesis describes interactions between principles of Library 2.0 and collection development of libraries. There are described real examples of utilization of elements of Library 2.0 in electronic bookshops and also web sites of Czech libraries. First chapter describes collection development, types and process of acquisition and book market in general. In second chapter, there are explained terms Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and Librarian 2.0. Third chapter describes electronic bookshops generally and also some examples of Czech and foreign ones. Furthermore there are presented elements of Library 2.0 which are used on web sites of American electronic bookshop Amazon.com (www.amazon.com) and Czech electronic bookshop Neoluxor.cz (www.neoluxor.cz). Fourth chapter presents elements of Library 2.0 which are used on web sites of chosen Czech libraries. The thesis suggests some options how to improve providing acquisition services.

Academic libraries of the private universities in the Czech Republic

Diploma thesis on the topic "Academic libraries of the private universities in the Czech Republic" deals with libraries of the private universities. An introduction into the issue containing history, present, good and bad points of the private universities is mentioned at the beginning. Another part of the work contains information about associations and corporations where the universities are involved in. Foreign private universities and their libraries are also mentioned for better overview. The work describes particular law documents relating to library activities (libraries in general as well as academical libraries). The main part of the thesis is the review of schools and their libraries. The end of the thesis there is a comparison with one public university and one private university and their libraries. Keywords of the thesis: academical libraries, libraries of the universities, private universities, private colleges, history of the private schools or universities, problems of the private school or universities, financing of the private schools.

Collection rearrangement of Technical University of Liberec

Práce se zabývá analýzou současného stavu uspořádání dokumentů v knihovně Technické univerzity v Liberci. V první části je stručně zmíněna historie Technické univerzity i její knihovny. V roce 2013 by mělo dojít k otevření nové budovy univerzitní knihovny. Díky rozvíjejícím se vědám a plánům využití nových prostor je středem zájmu práce navrhnout nové třídění. Velká část knihovního fondu bude zpřístupněna volně a měla by být uspořádána podle třídění Kongresové knihovny. Závěr práce obsahuje zdůvodnění změny současného třídění.

Services of public libraries in the Czech Republic for visually disabbled

Bakalářská práce je věnována tématu zrakově postižených uživatelů knihoven v České republice. První kapitola uvádí čtenáře do problematiky zrakově postižených obecně. Zabývá se klasifikací zrakového postižení, vývojem slepeckého písma, vzděláváním nevidomých a způsoby zprostředkovávání informací zrakově postiženým. Dále je zde uveden nástin problematiky specializovaných knihoven pro nevidomé a slabozraké, včetně jejich vývoje v České republice i vě světě. Podrobněji je popsána Knihovna a tiskárna K.E. Macana a knihovna spolu s digitálním archivem Braillnet Plus. V souvislosti s tématem jsou v práci představena některá univerzitní centra pomoci handicapovaným studentům, která se stala moderními a perspektivními institucemi, umožňujícími zrakově postiženým novodobý přístup k informacím. Součástí práce jsou dva rozhovory s osobami uživatelsky či profesně zainteresovanými v problematice zrakově postižených a srovnání služeb veřejných knihoven, které spolupracují s Knihovnou a tiskárnou K.E. Macana.

Library management system Olib 7: implementation process and administration

Diplomová práce se zabývá oblastí meziknihovních služeb na základe praktických zkušeností. Cílem je analyzovat a popsat soucasný stav techto služeb poskytovaných a využívaných v Knihovne AV CR a seznámit s jejich dalším možným vývojem s využitím nových technických a technologických prvku a vytvorit tak celkový obraz popisované cásti. Oblast meziknihovních služeb má i legislativní rámce v knihovním zákone a jeho provádecím predpisu a autorském zákone, s navazující národní metodikou pro meziknihovní služby, založenou také na mezinárodních smernicích a doporuceních. Mimo jiné, legislativa také povoluje zpoplatnení jen urcité cásti techto služeb, a proto tu nastala otázka zpoplatnit nebo ponechat bez poplatku i zbylou cást meziknihovních služeb. S automatizací meziknihovních služeb souvisí komunikacní protokoly vytvorené na základe mezinárodních norem a také možnosti využití nových technologií, vytvorení nových postupu pri zpracovávání agendy, poskytování a využívání meziknihovních služeb. K temto novým rešením muže sloužit analýza praxe konkrétního Oddelení meziknihovních služeb v Knihovne AV CR uskutecnované v reálném case, praktické zkušenosti knihovnic tohoto oddelení spolu s odborníky na nove zavádené technologické nástroje, kterým je napr. elektronické dodávání dokumentu.

The development of "Resource Description and Access" cataloguing rules

Cílem této diplomové práce je zmapovat vývoj vznikajících katalogizačních pravidel "Ressource Description and Access". První část je věnována současným mezinárodním standardům a úmluvám, které výrazně ovlivnily podobu i obsah RDA. Je zde představena historie a vývoj katalogizačních pravidel AACR2 a stručně popsána česká katalogizační politika. Dále jsou zmíněny studie FRBR a FRAD a vysvětleny jejich modely, popsány jsou také Ustanovení mezinárodních zásad katalogizace. Jádrem práce je představení způsobu tvorby pravidel RDA, stručný popis jednotlivých kapitol návrhu pravidel a porovnání s pravidly AACR2, přičemž jsou zmíněny především výrazné změny v konkrétních instrukcích. V praktické části jsou uvedeny příklady zpracování různých typů informačních zdrojů a různých bibliografických entit podle pravidel RDA. Závěrem je nastíněn přínos RDA pro mezinárodní i českou katalogizační praxi.

The role of book fairs in readers's education

Tématem diplomové práce je Role knižních veletrhů ve čtenářské výchově. Práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních kapitol. V úvodu práce je nastíněna obecná historie veletrhů a rozdělení dle přístupnosti. První část se zabývá zahraničními veletrhy. Popisuje vznik a vývoj mezinárodních veletrhů a jejich současnost. Jako stěžejní mezinárodní veletrh je představen Frankfurter Buchmesse. Dále je věnován prostor českým veletrhům, opět, kdy vznikaly, popř. proč. Jaký je jejich doprovodný program a zaměření. Více je rozebrán jediný mezinárodní veletrh v České republice Svět knihy Praha. V poslední kapitole je nabídnut výběr kampaní, akcí a projektů, jež jsou v České republice uskutečňovány na podporu a propagaci četby. Práce rozebírá kampaně zaměřené nejen pro děti, ale také pro dospělé, způsob jejich prezentace a jejich oblíbenost.
