The elementary art school education is one of the neglected fields of study and there is not so much works dealing with this issue. Therefore, the selected specific insight into this particular theme tries to show other possible ways of research. The bachelor's thesis "Education in art schools in the Czech Republic and its pedagogues" deals with the historical development of art school education and predicts the possible future development in the field. The analysis based on quantitative data was focused on the number of elementary art school institutions, its pedagogues, the comparison of analogous data in time and its evaluation. The quantitative data supported the qualitative research. The issue is also studied from the point of view of pedagogues in art schools, who are the most important participants of the art education. For the possibility of further comparison, the teachers in the supplementary study were selected from two spatially distant art schools. The research brings subjective points of views of pedagogues in art schools concerning the function of art schools, the contribution of art schools for art pedagogues themselves, the contribution for the society and for the pupils of art schools. On the contrary, the research also reveals various problems of individual institutions,...

Its main reference framework is represented by Peter deLeon's model of advice and consent (supply and demand model) (deLeon, 1988) and model devised for an analysis of Canadian political science development by John Trent and Michael Stein (Trent, 1987; Trent, Stein, 2002; Stein, 1998). Dražďáková, Lenka ; Veselý, Arnošt (advisor) ; Mouralová, Magdalena (referee)
The number of immigrants has been increasing in the Czech Republic. Along with adult immigrants come also their children and this causes an increase of foreigners in Czech schools. In this diploma thesis it is examined, in what way Prague primary schools cope with the increase of children foreigners in their classrooms. Through interviews and questionnaire survey it is observed what opinions and beliefs are taken by representatives of primary schools in Prague on the issue of foreigners in education, whether they have any specific conceptions that focus on helping foreigners with integration into the Czech school system and at the same time into the majority society. Considering the fact that the process of integration is complicated and during the process a number of obstacles usually occur, it depends not only on the activities of each particular school, but also on the degree of support from the state, and on a child-foreigner himself and on his family, whether the process of integration will eventually be successful or not. For these reasons in the diploma thesis there is also examined the legislative framework defining the issue of education and integration of children-foreigners, financial and methodological support for schools by the Ministry of Education, and the role of children-foreigners and...

Tůmová, Anna ; Veselý, Arnošt (advisor) ; Kalous, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with teachers' attitudes to changes in the education and the curriculum reform of regional education system in the Czech Republic. The curriculum reform is a significant change for the education policy and the teachers' attitudes are important for the reform implementation. The methodology is based on quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Theoretical basis are the theories about teachers' beliefs and attitudes and a belief system according to Paul A. Sabatier. The teachers' approach to the reform is defined as their acceptance of the reform and the extent of their activities in the reform. The teachers' acceptance of the reform is formulated in two dimensions. The first one is teachers' acceptance of the reform objectives. The other one is teachers' acceptance of the new teacher role as a co-creator of the curriculum. The teachers' attitudes appear to be mainly problematic in the second category which deals to formalism of the reform. As main reasons of teachers' disagreement on the reform were identified the problems in the reform implementation phase, teachers' ideological opposition to the reform, inadequate explanation of the reform meaning by central authorities, which leads to a misunderstanding of the reform objectives by teachers, and an implementation of the reform...

Novotná, Hana ; Veselý, Arnošt (advisor) ; Basl, Josef (referee)
9 RÉSUMÉ The Czech educational system came during the last years through many changes. Into force came the New School Act No. 561/2004 (School Act) that among others states schools' duty to conduct self-evaluation and develop their own educational programme. This thesis introduces school effectiveness research, meaningful from the end of the seventies and beginning of the eighties. In the Czech Republic the research is valid from the 1989. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to discussion on school effectiveness research in the Czech Republic, while the research is discussed from the view of school evaluation. At the same time this work offers a possibility to apply the theoretical research into Czech schools practise: their activity and evaluation. Further, one of the main statements of the school effectiveness research - that school has an impact on pupils not only on their academic knowledge but also on their future development - is investigated. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part explores theoretical data on the research and deals with its main parts: school added value, correlates of effective school, school improvement, school's quality and it also investigates the balance between external and self-evaluation. In the conclusion of the first part, there are expressed critical...
